Great game! I really liked the visuals. Those effects you used fit the game really well!
Well done!

Great game mate! Full marks on simplicity, creativity and capturing the theme. The CRT effect, retro music is completely nostalgic. The last level was fun! I just wish there was one or two more levels lol

You can improve the experience of maybe the sound aspect? It needs more variations. I had to squint to understand the writing down below, it's not very legible.  Maybe a cool voiceover of the AI would've made the experience amazing. These are just nitpicks! I really enjoyed the game 👾

Developer

Thank you so much. That is really encouraging.

Yeah, I did poorly on the sound. Especially the walking sound was originally matched for a bipedal character, which I later swapped out for the blob. Now it really doesn't match. And for the font I agree as well. I even switched it out basically last minute, because the one I used before that was even worse.

I did actually consider voice over, and my partner even offered to do it. Retrospectively I know that we could have done it, but at the time I was just worried that that would cost too much time. But I am considering working on the game again after the jam, and voiceover is definitely something I will do then.

Nice visuals, that old tv effect was really cool.

Developer

Thank you. Yeah, I used Hiulit's shader code. That made it easy to make the game look better.

Submitted

Great art design. Excellent use of the shader effect.  And the level design kept being interesting, dying then the game trying to protect you.

Side rant. This was Godot right? had to play it on Firefox was not playing on chrome was stuck on purple screen(not affecting my vote). Don't know why but Godot games play better in Firefox for me ,even my own.

Developer

Thank you for your nice words. Yes, this is Godot. I primarily use Firefox, so I was not aware of these issues. But I also have no idea how to change that.

Submitted

Neither do I. Googled it multiple times but no luck.. Think it might just be a chrome thing and the games play better in Firefox.

Submitted

Sweet game! The CRT effect and the screen change effect were both really cool. I liked how it was a sorta story/puzzle game where you were trying to figure out how you could die! I feel like you could go a bit farther with that idea, like add all sorts of ways of dying or like multi-step processes like get wet > electricute your self for example. Only issue is that the CRT effect makes the text kinda hard to read

Developer

Thank you for the feedback.

Every game set in a simulation just needs some sort of CRT effect ; ) And yes I agree, and I even changed the font last minute, as the one I used before had even worse readability.
Thanks for noticing the puzzle elements. I tried to code it in a way that would make finding different approaches necessary.

Yeah, I even had more elements planned (for example lasers), but decided to limit the scope. But I am considering if I want to expand on the game after the jam, and if I do, I would certainly do that.

Submitted

Yeah definitely a really smart idea to limit the scope, I feel like the game as a jam entry is complete as is. But yeah if you want to come back to the game, adding more approaches would be cool!

Great game! I really like the visuals!

Developer

Thank you. It's really funny what you can do with basic pixel art and a few effects.

I love this game! Really polished Good job :D

Thank you for your kind words.

I really liked the retro feel of this game. Great job!

Developer

Thank you. It's nice to hear that I achieved what I set out to.

definitely messes with winning and losing more than most games. Confusing, but in a good wya

Developer

Thank you for that feedback. I'm on the fence about that, actually. As others have already pointed out, this can also be interpreted as just a reskin of win and lose conditions, disguised as each other. But emphasizing the conventionally expected elements helped, apparently.

I really love it! I love how you took the concept of will you snail and flipped that on its head! Amazing Work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you.
Funny enough I only realized the similarity after a bit of iterating on the basic idea (which are these compensating robots that for example allow you to get every shot in basket ball). But after that it provided me with a nice base for the story.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wow this game has some incredible style! The gameplay is that of a classic platformer, but the setting and the art style really send it to the next level! Great work!

Please consider playing and rating my game if you can :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you. These words are really encouraging to me.

Thank you for making such a cool game :)

Well presented, controls well, polished, fun! Good job.

The most interesting thing about this one is the interpretation of the theme. "Try to get the objective but the objective keeps disappearing because the antagonist is taking it away from you", could easily mechanically be the same if it was spikes or "win flags" you were trying to hit. So mechanically I don't think your game supports the theme...

But! You won me over with the "overbearingly kind ai". I did feel like I was trying to fail! Credit to the writing :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I noticed a bit into the jam that it is more or less just a reskin of the objective. Once I did notice I tried to reinforce the feeling a bit, like adding a victory sound for the goal, and emphasizing the story of the player being trapped a bit more. Glad to see that that helped.

Submitted

Nice little platformer. Fun to play and the controls felt responsive. Good job

Developer

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Is this reverse will you snail ? :)

The idea was a bit basic but I think theme with the AI made it much more interesting.

well done

Developer(+1)

Thank you! And yes, it basically is.
I first though of these youtube videos like "100 $ if you can miss the shot", where they have robots that move the basket to the position you're shooting. Then I remembered that this whole prediction thing is basically what Will You Snail? does, so I decided why not just flavor it like that?

Submitted

Good game, I really like the humor in it !

Good work !

Developer

Thank you. I wanted to try your game as well, but I had trouble unpacking it on Linux. Will try it once I get to a Windows PC

I would like to have an AI like this with me in real life...

Developer

I mean real life is probably a lot more pleasant than a boring blob simulation :)

Good game, the walking sound can get annoying sometimes, and I would be nice if there was a bit more variety, but overall, good job!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Yes I am not happy with the walking sound as well. I matched it to a bipedal character I used in the beginning, and only switched to the blob late in development, and didn't manage to adapt the sound properly.
