nice game- i rate your game
I hope you play our game as I played your game

I enjoyed it but I couldn’t see a way forward once I got the first upgrade (which was a ladder). Also, something about this game caused my cpu to spike tremendously… My fan was booming the whole time

Developer

Thanks for playing, there was a ladder at the very beginning of the map ;D It might be the lava, as some have said it causes some lag

The graphics and animations are really pretty and the boomerang mechanic is very nice 😄 I like the atmosphere and the feel of the game!

I got stuck though and while writing this comment I read that there are boxes that can be pushed! 😄 I'll definitely go back and try to finish the level now that I know that!

Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, should have made the pushable boxes more clear :P

Honestly really enjoyed that game, a small metroid-vania with trick shot and platforming puzzles.

But here come the complaints. lol. (not many)
-Your jump sound effect start after you've left the ground.
-The lava caused the game to chug. Slowed it WAY down.
-Your push-able boxes look the same as your non-push-able boxes.

Otherwise, I think it's a pretty solid game.
Good job.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, honestly complains are important, can't improve my game without them (i.e. had no idea that the lava slows the game that much) ;D

I'll add one complain to the list : not enough trick shots :D

Submitted

Ya, it ran fine most of the time, but the moment the lava came on screen it slowed right down.

Good to know, ty

This was a fun game! I actually stuck it out all the way through and got all 42 life gems. I thought it was really cool that at every altar where you got a new ability there were multiple ways to go depending on which upgrades you had gotten at that point. I thought I might get lost in the big map but navigating around it really wasn't too bad at all. There were just a few little things I'd like to see tightened up. I think right now the character is holding the boomerang a little far away from his body. It made throwing it a little wonky sometimes because you would be holding it in a wall even though you weren't that close to it. There was also a part where I almost softlocked myself out of getting a gem, at the part where it's in a little narrow tunnel where you can't quite reach and there's a purple switch above it. I think I maybe hit the switch to early or something and it spawned a box so I couldn't hit the gem with my boomerang. from the ledge on the other side. It took several minutes of me jumping into the wall and throwing it at different angles before I finally got lucky and hit it. Other than those two things though, I thought it was really fun and atmospheric! The character controller felt really great to move and throw the boomerang, especially after you got the running boots. Good job!

Developer

Wow! Didn't think anyone would actually collect all the gems but you did, just wow. I did that soft lock in purpose but thinking about it again, it was a mistake as you don't know where the box appears... If I ever return to this game, I'll be sure to bring the boomerang closer to the player.

Thanks for the nice feedback, made my morning :)

Great game and impressive amount of content for a jam. I liked how polished it is.  I just wished the player was a bit faster. Well done

Developer

Thanks !

So much fun and well-made! Had a great time playing it, loved how the graphics and music contributed to the atmosphere, knowing the time and resources you had, this is a really solid game, keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Thanks you! I left some feedback on your game as well, it was really good and I hope others will be trying it too :)

This was a nice game. I liked the graphics and music. It wasn't all that clear to know what you were supposed to do. The player also is a little too slow. Overall solid game.

Check out my game here:

Developer

Yeah I agree with you. It's hard to make a bigger levels with clear goals. I left the player slow so when you get the speed upgrade it actually is an upgrade, also some of my non gamer friends liked the slow tempo of the game. Anyway thanks for your comment.

I already played your game and left some feedback ;)

I'm sorry, i rated this game low because It was tremendously laggy and i diden't have fun playing it

great use of the theme though five out of five

i'm glad u guys enjoyed it but i diden't

Developer(+1)

Thank you! If you have trouble running some games, it might be because of your pc (I could have left an exe file) and you probably shouldn't leave negative feedback on other games if they run poorly on your system, expect if others have encountered the same issue, then it might be the games fault :D But I admit the game isn't by anyway optimized but it's a game jam game so whatever. I'll be sure to try your game :)

Super cool concept, fits the theme well and loved the games atmosphere! really enjoyed playing! great work man!

Developer

Thanks! Had a blast doing it as usually I focus on the coding but now most of my time was used on the level

Submitted

Nice game, I like the idea and the narrative as well as the spooky atmosphere.

I would appreciate if you could provide feedback for my game submission.

Developer

Thank you ! I'll be sure to check your game before the rating period ends !

That's a nice game
I think the only problem i had was the fact that i got stuck and had no where to go
Also the jump is real wonky because if I don't keep the space bar pressed its like i did nothing

That was a nice game
Would you like to test mine?

I'd love some feedback on it

Developer

Thanks for playing! I did a lot of work on the map as some testers got stuck as well but sadly couldn't make it perfect in time, so it is what is it :D I'll try your game and leave some feedback at some point for sure !

Good execution on the more technical side of the concept. Lots of cool progression and "puzzles". There is however quite a lot of clashing art due to not having a more consistent style and the rather dimly lit level in hell makes it rather hard to traverse it.  Pretty much 16 bit art right next to 8 bit that is the same size is really off-putting. Gameplay is also a bit to slow for my taste.  Honestly if you pair up with a good artist for your next jam, I'm pretty sure anything you make will be much better.

Also it would be nice to better explain who attributed what so its much easier to tell what is wholly original. Thanks for reviewing our game we have done the same!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm quite useless when it comes to art/music etc... But it's nice to hear my coding is good, means a lot to me.

Tbh I kind of messed up with the credits as I couldn't find some assets I used, well you learn from your mistakes: Next time I'll be sure to list every asset as soon as I get use them.

Great idea with the boomerang for the theme! You did a great job at setting a tone with the art and audio. The character controller could use a bit of work with the jumping and the readability of what blocks you can move and which you cant could be improved. Other than that it was a very clever idea executed well! Great work!  It would mean a lot if you could check out my Jam submission if you get the chance. Thanks!

Developer

Thanks a lot, if I don't know if I'll put more time on this game, but if I will, I'll be sure to tackle these problems. I'll check your game and leave feedback !
