I think this was about the best gameplay of the stuff I've played haha

Developer

Wow! That's nice to hear, thank you!

Man this was tough! It definitely managed to be scary despite being about spoiled food, so kudos on that. The graphics looked good, particularly the lighting effects. I enjoyed the Zero-G/jump mechanic, it was a unique change of pace.

Watching your stream was very fun, thank you for playing my game!

This is really cool but makes me pretty woozy after a few minutes, unfortunately. I really like the concept of risking your life for a celebratory arbitrary dinner. The graphics work nicely (space windows!) and the character looks good.

Developer

Thank you! This is the first time I do all the graphics by myself, so I'm glad it turned out alright.

This was great.  Loved the mechanics used for jumping.  And really got the feeling that I was in zero gravity.  The implementation of the flashlight  was done well too.  Once the lobster starts attacking it gets real frantic and hitting a crate then as you try to get away was hilarious.   Will def recommend this.  I had no bugs or issues with this little gem.

Thanks for making this!!!

This is a really neat horror game that pairs humour with horror very well. The flavor of the game - pun intended - about retrieving an alien meal that turns out to be more dangerous than intended - is a great twist on the space horror genre. It also makes for a more unique premise as well!

The best thing about this game is the disorienting zero-grav mechanics. They made me dizzy, but that is kind of the point and it captured the out-of-control feeling of trying to navigate in space well. I think that the ending to dispose of the alien played with these mechanics in a fun way as well.

For feedback, as has already been mentioned, some more direction with guiding players would have been useful, as the ship itself was fairly large. I had no problems with this as you did add signs on floors, but players may struggle with it. Also, a checkpoint may have been helpful for players as well.

I do like the additional way to kill the alien as well. Games with multiple ways to solve problems are very appealing, and also make players feel like they can be creative with how they approach things. Really encourage you to keep on creating games - I think a version of this that was more fleshed-out could really nail the space horror experience. Can't wait to see what you come up with in future!

Thanks for submitting The Second Fridge to the SCREAM MACHINE game jam!

Really impressive engine, I had alot of fun messing around in zero G, couldn't find the gun though.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had fun!

very fun, great looking game. I didn't find the gun though - that lobster wins this round.

Thank you for playing!

I liked this. The game was fun, it took a bit of time to get used to the movement but when I did, I liked it. I think that having the monster kill you straight away was less scary and more annoying as I had to start the entire game again (Maybe start from the fridge when you die?) but I still enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you ! I appreciate the feedback, it's very helpful. I'm glad that you enjoyed the game despite that flaw.

I was really impressed that you managed to make a game this spinny and disorienting—a cool ludic tension-builder!—without making it...nauseating. At least for me, anyway. That's a hard needle to thread. There are some little things you could adjust in camera and controls (without sacrificing the scrambling nature of the player's actions) to add some QoL and make the setup work for something bigger, but I think it works great for this game.

Also, maybe I missed something, but gryyvat gur cynlre nobhg n abarkvfgrag tha vf irel zrna. V ybir vg. Znqr gur npghny fbyhgvba srry yvxr phggvat gur Tbeqvna xabg.

Cool, concise, classic "neat mechanic" jam game.

Thank you kindly for your comment! I'm relieved that you didn't find it nauseating to play. That was one of my worries since a low framerate can compound the experience, so I agree that there could be some quality of life improvements on this game.

The rest of your comment was kind of funny to me (besides the clever ceasar encryption), because there actually is a gun somewhere in the ship (it spawns inside one of the three decks), though it can be hard to find due to how disorienting the game can be. The gun is not necessary to complete the game, but it can be helpful. I would not dare lie to the player and tell them about a non existent gun xD  even if that could be a good idea, if executed properly.

This just shows that I did not a good job at properly guiding the player toward a clear goal, although it does not seem like a problem for seasoned players like yourself.

Anyway, I'm very happy that you could finish the game and had fun playing it!

Loved the whole jumping around in 0 gravity mechanic ! and the game was pleasantly comedic once I ran into the enemy :) 9/10 !
