nice game dude! i love the game mechanics and the idea of a 3d flappy bird, good job!

Hey Eternal. The game played great. I liked the controls you had. I like how you had a lot of different songs when we reset the game.

What was your favorite part about making this project?

Developer(+1)

Thanks, Lingster! By far my favorite part was making all the custom shaders. The neon grids and the fire effects are all shaders on 2D sprites. Lest favorite was setting up collision in Godot, almost killed my desire to push toward completing this game.

I tried to run it few times but each time Google Chrome was freezed

Developer

Hi Robotex, try the binary instead. It runs for me in Chrome, but it's many times slower than the desktop version. I guess there are still some bugs in the Godot web export process.

Flappy Bird 3D is a very creative idea! I was able to escape the tutorial but it appears my laptop browser couldn't handle the graphics after escaping the tutorial, from the youtube video it looks really awesome. I saw someone mention the game is smoother in Windows version, I'll give that a try.

This is a cool idea. I like the visuals and how trippy everything is but I couldn't really tell if my flapping was actually doing anything outside of the tutorial. Maybe it was just me, but good job anyway!

Very good job - Well done

Very creative approach on Flappy Bird! While the browser version's kinda choppy, playing on the Windows version was super smooth. The intro scene was a little confusing because I thought the level wouldn't progress but it looks like I just had to spam the space bar.  Great work!

I'm loving pretty much everything about this!! However I'm having a small problem (which could very well be my own foolishness, tbh hahaha) : it seems that no matter how much I flap in the tutorial area, the room won't self-destruct? What am I missing/screwing up lol? Thanks ahead of time!

Submitted(+1)

Silly me: I'm playing on the Windows build, btw! Not browser :)

Developer(+1)

Hi obliviist, thank you for such positive feedback! About the room, it will just disappear and the main game will start. The self-destruct is like cake, in that it's also a lie. I basically wanted to give the player some reason to repeatedly press spacebar. I am incredibly happy that so many people were able to play the whole game and that I did not make everything too cryptic!

Very polished look! Nice touch with the little intro introducing the "flapping" mechanic also 👍

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, John! My goal with the starting room was to make it as streamlined as possible. Most ppl dont want to read a manual before playing a game. Not like we did in the olden days.

i gave the theme 4

Great  idea and combination of gaming!

Once you get over the initial learning curve, the game is quite fun to play.  Visuals made it a little hard to gauge the player's height.  Wish there was a scoring system so I can tell how well I did compared to previous runs.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback. I need to add a height indicator, or make it more obvious somehow. The scoring system is also a good idea, just needs a little bit of extra work to make it happen.

Neat game! It was a bit tough for me to play on browser, as it really lagged hard there. Went better with the download-version then!

Developer

Glad you liked it. Yea the web build is super slow compared to the binaries. Thanks for trying it!

A very nice twist on Flappy Bird. I really like the art the background scrolling towards you gives it a very nice trippy feel to it. The only gripe with visuals I'd have to say is that it's pretty hard to tell how high you are/how likely you are to die. Music is great. I like the recharge on the flapping mechanic. Keep it up great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, Orczuk! I appreciate the feedback and agree about the height. I need to think of a way to communitate that easily. Probably rethink the UI and have a vertical gauge for height and a horizontal for how close to the end you are. Glad you enjoyed the visuals btw:)

really nice and creative , I've made all my assets in pixel studio I recognize some of their  crazy good dungeon set monsters . you did a nice work. remind me Space Harrier somewhere. If Ihad to critique I just think you should throw the player in action ,I had a hard first minute(until I look arround with my mouse :) ) to understand controls principle and go to the actual game.

Developer

Thanks for the input! I was thinking about Space Harrier when making this btw. Do you mean add a player model so there is a body?

Submitted(+1)

maybe , why not , but that's not my point , it was just a memory , I loved space harrier when it was released in arcade, but I think I was 8 yearss old, do your game remind me my young years, and it's cool :)

Submitted(+1)

excellent game even if I didn't play much, respect the theme

Developer

Everything is as retro as possible:)
