Man this was really well thought out and super enjoyable.  Super cool.  Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

I noticed a lot of cool animation details, like how character animates when moving across the ledges, and graceful character animation as he floats to the ground. Also the moving background buildings are a nice touch, it makes for an awesome parallax effect (I tried something like that in my game but not as successfully as you did). Well done!

It's so great to hear you've enjoyed the game and the sprite work. Thank you for playing!

I liked the art and seems like you guys stuck to the NES palette. However the character movement was a bit too fast I think. As others have mentioned it makes it hard to react and grab the ledges. Also the instant respawning can cause you to die twice in the same pit, because you are still running forward when you respawn. So I think making everything a bit slower would help a lot.

Apart from that good job, I liked it :)

All fair points, we'll be sure to try to improve our next project to stamp out these issues. Thank you for playing!

Very nice game. Controls good but it's very hard to press E when you pressing W+D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! That's a fair point we'll definitely try to space the keys a bit better for the next game.

Looks like an actual NES-game, well done to capture that! Found the game a bit difficult though. :)

Developer

Thank you for playing. It's a fair assessment. We'll make sure to have a playtester next time around to balance out the game with a fresh perspective.

Like the look of the game - well done - pitty about the ledges

I think you nailed the art... very simple but effective!! Nice NES feeling... only small thing.. It is a bit difficult to grab those ledges! But keep it up :)

Developer

We definitely drop the ball on the ledges, glad you like the art! Thank you for playing!

Nice pixelart. I see that you are aware of the bugs, so I'm not going to repeat. But I encourage you to improve the game. The NES feeling is good!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Appreciate the words of encouragement!

Sorry man. I don't think I can rate it. I had a huge trouble grabbing ledges. There just wasn't enough enough dwell time and I did not get far at all. On the bright side the spritework looks nice

Developer

That fair, we'll work on fixing that post-jam. Thank you for playing!

Bugged, can't jump right. The game look good however.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Could you elaborate on what bug you encountered so we can fix it for future patches?

Submitted(+1)

i press up(tapping or holding) and the character just switch animation and barely jumping 1 pixel or two. Sometimes it jump right, but mostly doesn't.

While playing I found that using the arrow key to jump resulted in this bug but using W seemed fine. Hope that helps and good job on the game!

Developer

Thank you, will definitely get it fixed!

I was thinking of using the same parallax bg set! Looks perfect for a NES era game. The movement feels great and jumping is easy to get a hang of. I couldn't for the life of me grab on to that 1st ledge tho. He did it once, but all the other times I just see the E popup and pressing E doesnt grab:( Linux Firefox is where I tried it.

Developer

The ledge grabbing didn't come out quite right, we'll be sure to tweak it post-jam. If you are willing to give it another shot you can skip to the next lvl with level select.  If not it's cool. Thanks for playing!
