Description
I thought of this as something along the lines of Mirror's Edge—a race through a vast city, with momentary breaks in the momentum.

The sound I wanted was a mix of extremely clean, unmodified instruments (French horn, bass guitar, piano) with very crunchy and distorted ones (synths, lead guitar, drums). I also set myself the challenge of writing something fast, since I have a tendency to focus too much on slow music.

The first track wound up accidentally drawing on a lot of NES influences, though I'm happier with the second track, Solitude. In both cases, it was a good opportunity to get out of my orchestral comfort zone.

Solitude is a great track! Love the textures you create, and the melody is cool ^^

Thanks!

Really enjoying the mellow piano chords and slow ebb and flow of Solitude.

Thank you.

"Solitude" is super relaxing.  I really dig that english/french horns (?) in background. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks :)

French horn, yep, though now you mention it a cor anglais could be very nice there either.

These synths are so cool! Love the bitcrushed drums. Altogether a really cool hybrid retro sound! And the second track really fits the name. Very calm!

Ooh I love the juicy echo on the high note of the arp. And like others have said, the distant lead slides around beautifully in the background. Great job! I can picture a big countdown to the bass note of the arp in the very beginning and almost wish there was a big crash like START!!!

Race through the City - Love the melody and glide on that breathy lead man! It has *so* much energy!

Solitude - This one sounds nice. I could imagine working on the car before/after the race to this. Very tranquil. :D

Favorite is definitely Race through the City, but I'm a sucker for high energy tracks! Especially ones with kickass leads :D

One more time! Race through the City!

I love Solitude, almost gives me Gran Turismo main menu vibes with the piano and synth in the beginning.

Developer(+1)

Oh wow, Gran Turismo. There’s a blast from the past.

Haven’t listened all the way through yours yet, but I loved the twitchy unpredictable beat in the first track.

Thank you!

In race through the city, the bass lines are really nice! The bitcrushed drums go great too, and the arpeggiated synth pattern, really liking all of those!

The piano and french horn in Solidude are really pleasant and mellow to listen to!

The french horn is also a really nice fit. I wonder how that would sound double-tracked, so you’d have a full blown acoustic pad!

I really like the bass solo sounding section around 51 seconds of the first track, I'm a sucker for good bass! Also the mix of clean and distorted sounds works so well in Solitude, it sounds so good!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I was pretty happy with that bass break alright.

I really like the first track! Very techy or cyber-ry (idk). Just like what many people said, very creative and good for using "non-electric" or "pure" instruments!

Submitted

As ACpants said before, the instrument blend sounds great!

Submitted

Nice blend between "pure" instruments and the distorted synth sounds. Great upbeat vibe in the first track. keeps me on my toes!

Developer

cheers :)

Might want to fix the soundcloud link. It's currently pointing to the upload page.
