An incredible and absolutely magical work of art... I don't even have the words to describe it, lol
Oh, right... I love the drums in Daydream, heh
Thanks!

Description
I had a sort of adventure game in mind while writing these tracks, the kind where each level is a different dream of sorts that you need to clear. I only made 2 tracks since i wasn't confident enough that i could finish more than 2 in time.
I started by sketching a main theme on piano that i based the first intro track "Daydream" on and then made the action track "Twisted Dream" following the same vibe that i had in the first one.
Daydream i was intending as a sort of introductory track to the game or a level, while Twisted Dream was for a combat parts of a level
I initially didn't intend a pirate/nautical vibe for these, but that's what the water vibes in the picture theme seemed to veer me towards, so i guess the first "dream" level would be pirate/sailing themed.
Software/Plugins used:
Cubase as the DAW
EastWest Hollywood Orchestra, for the Orchestral Sounds
Cinesamples Musio for the cellos, organ and drumkit, on "Twisted
Dream" + some foot stomps, nylon guitars on "Daydream"
Native Instruments Kontakt with the Session Guitarist Strummed Acoustic library for rhythm guitar parts on "Daydream" and "Twisted Dream" + Massive for the synth bass layer on "Twisted Dream"
I also tested recording some backing vocal stuff, which albeit a bit crappy hopefully helps with the vibe a bit.
Effects for reverb, mixing and mastering are all Cubase stock plugins.
Message from the artist
Thanks for listening/rating! As usual, all feedback and critique is very much welcomed.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I interpreted the text theme as going inside someone's "dream world" and the picture theme also game strong imagination and dream vibes + the whole water elements in it really influenced my tracks on the feel side of things.
I intentionally went in a different direction than the Asia vibes in the image theme, since i already did something in that vein during the last jam.

Daydream: The quality of the orchestration is spectacular. I love the strings are crisp, the bass drum is wonderfully heavy without taking away from the trudging bass pulses, love the vocals you recorded which certainly add to the pirate-y feeling, and the oboe doubled by the violins works really well. Love the key change too! The best key changes are those that are subtle and feel more like an emotional shift rather than a big event in my opinion and you nailed that here.
Twisted Dream: The mallets and bass grooving in 12/8 certainly give this track some momentum. I really love the driving section with the violin melody. That part reminds me of music from Paper Mario: The Origami King. Nicely done!
Overall: Both of these tracks work together to show me the dream world from your game very nicely. The nautical vibes are clear, but also each is packed with emotional nuances that give personality to your game in a fun and impactful way. Would love to hear more of this OST if you decide to return to it! Well done and thank you for sharing!
Great submission dude, you should be proud. I don't know of you're open to feedback, and it isn't really feedback, at least not on the compositional side of your work, because I have nothing but love for it. But I wonder how this would sound without reverb. I get that you're going for an orchestral feel, but I love those dry midi sounding soundtracks you hear in games like Sea of Stars for example. I'd love to hear less reverb heavy versions! But again excellent work!
So sorry for the late reply but this is exactly what I meant!!! So cool, and thanks so much for taking the time to do something with my feedback! I really really love this!! Using the old sounds (and ditching the heavy use of reverb) immediately transfers you back to when you were a kid playing the SNES, whereas your initial production doesn't really grab that nostalgia, I don't mean any offense. In my opinion you nailed it with this second production.
Hey again!
Love the 6/8 time signatures; it already makes it stand out to me over classical 4/4. Your songs are well-composed and have a good quality to them. I especially like the part at 0:27 of Daydream - that is an oboe isn't it? I love oboes! The vocals are not as "crappy" as you think they are; I actually like them quite a bit.
The first time, that song didn't sound too pirate-y to me, but the second time I definitely heard it!
Really cool entries :D
And I don't mind that it was only two songs. I prefer two fleshed-out songs over 10+ rushed ones any day :)
Thank you for your kind words! I tried to get the vocals a bit clearer sounding, but in the end they still ended up a bit mushy for a lack of a better word. I was also intending to do the same kind of vocal doubling the lead melody near the end of Twisted Dream, as I had on Daydream, but seemed to have totally forgotten about it the next day :D.
I'll share your submission with others, super interesting melodies and harmonies, arrangement is really good, nothing really to say, super solid! Really impressed!
Really nice sounds, love the orchestration and the differents parts of your submission!
Liked the percussion in Twisted Dream. This is a very solid body of work. Keep at it!
In Daydream I liked the presence and strong character of it. You nailed it.
Twisted Dream was very cool, those strings give it a lot of strength to the composition.
I want to listen to more music about this imaginary game!
Awesome work!
I really liked the pirate feel! It was unique and fun. The vocals especially sold me!
Really cool tracks, I'm a fan of your hybrid orchestral style music, it's a lot of fun to listen to! I especially liked 'Twisted Dream', it's textures and rhythms were extremely engaging. Great work!
Good job creating some good contrast with only two tracks, they both feel different but connected. The backing vocals did help with the pirate vibe you were going for. Even if you don't sing well you can make it quite convincing with some if you do many takes and spread them across the stereo field (plus some EQ + reverb to position it nicely in the mix). Might be a little too time consuming for a game jam so I imagine you did enough to meet the time constraints. Anyway, I found the soundtrack to be well composed, there's a lot of development and it never settles into a predictable pattern.
First track is great, nice build up at the end, I absolutely love that you modulate for a moment nice arrangement keep it up good job !
Nice job! I really liked both tracks! Twisted Dream is a great combat song!
Omg I love that theme in Daydream, especially when the choir comes in, put a smile on my face. Twisted Dream is somewhat more menacing, Fits the narrative well! Also great work with those strings, reminds me of Metallica. Very unique entry!
Glad you liked it! The inspiration for Twisted Dream came from the Finnish metal band Apocalyptica (they funnily enough started up as a Metallica tribute band), since i found a sample library in Musio where they recorded their cello sounds. Highly recommend listening to them If you haven't heard them before! They're a bit of an unique band, in that they do metal music, but with cellos ran through amps and other effects.
