Thank you so much for listening and for the comment! I'm glad it came across as fun - that was part of my interpretation for this Pokemon. I appreciate it!

This made me smile. :) Thank you for listening and for the compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, this submission blew me away. I think that there are far more things that I love about this track than I can fit in this comment. To keep it brief, the melody writing is smooth, catchy, and singable; the counterpoint and voice leading of all voices throughout the simplified orchestra interweaves so seamlessly with each other - making this feel like such a cohesive piece; the harmony is unique and intriguing; the loop as a whole is engaging and pulls me in for several repeat listens; the imagery that this evokes is one of confidence and agility in the air, which perfectly captures the vibe of Staravia; and the overall feel and style you used fits very well with the style of music in particular that accompanies the DS-era Pokemon games (gen 4 came to mind first, especially since this is when Staravia was introduced). Bravo, you have earned my selection for the top submission. Excellent work and thank you so much for sharing.

This track is a vibe. You matched the kaleidoscope-like design of this character with this theme. The drum loop sample contrasted with the spacey distorted alternating notes feels like it should be very high energy, but it has a strange serenity to it that feels almost like floating in space in peace. I suppose this makes a lot of sense since it is a star! Nice work with this and thank you for sharing!

Very strong choice of Pokemon! I’m glad that #0001 is represented in this jam! This is both a very creative interpretation of Bulbasaur as well as a very accurate representation. Your selection to have a light-hearted and happy-sounding bouncy track would fit the well-mannered and overall happy character. I think the upbeat and fun nature of this track also supports how many people think about and remember Bulbasaur as one of the original starters and gives quite a nostalgic feeling to it as well. Great work on this and thank you for sharing!

The electronic data-like sounds are a good representation of Porygon. The build-up of this song is catchy and would work really well in-game I think. I am a fan of the key change - it is reminiscent of older Kirby games I think (though I can’t think of a specific example). Nice work on this and thank you for sharing!

You did a really good job matching the musical style to Pokemon battle music. The intro tells me we are in a Pokemon battle instantly, even if I didn’t have the context. The bass and percussion in particular are such a wonderful representation of the style and tells me this is more than simply a common battle. The I really like the melody writing and interplay of the different instruments you used. Very nice work and thank you for sharing!

This is quite gorgeous. The texture of the string swells, rhythmic piano swells, and plucky melody absolutely give the sense of arches in the sky with rain, and the harmony is so colorful, making this a beautiful representation of a rainbow. I appreciate the subtle use of snare, triangle, and other subtle percussion instruments to add some sparkle. If this is your first orchestral piece, then cannot wait to hear music you come up with in the future! Great work on this and thank you for sharing!

I really like how much detail and emotion you conveyed with so few musical voices, just like the constraints of the original Nintendo systems. I really like those ominous chords at the beginning which felt honestly quite nostalgic and made me think of boss fights from my childhood. The melodic writing is a highlight in this track for me. Great work with that and even though there is lots of variation, I think you provide familiar sounds often enough that I followed easily throughout and it feels quite cohesive. Nicely done - thank you for sharing!

The intro is a really nice touch that tells me this is a battle theme and this is definitely a legendary pokemon! Nice work with the percussion and bass in particular that sell battle vibe. The flutey sound of the lead instrument gives the sense of wind and air which matches the Rayquaza theme. I really like the inclusion of the battle win theme at the end (which also seems like a stylized version of the evolution complete jingle - I don’t know if I ever realized how similar they were before now). Nice work with this one, thank you for sharing!

This track certainly captures the immense and epic nature of what it would feel like to be facing such a formidable creature. I really like the zooming sweep effect and the glitchy sound design on it. I think this would work particularly well as a theme for Kyurem in a movie - it would be really fun to hear this in a movie theater with my chest vibrating from the big speakers. Nicely done, thank you for sharing!

As I commented on discord, I think you do a really great job correlating musical elements with aspects of Lampent as a character. The ascending and bell-like lead instrument gives a sense of levity and even just sounds like a chandelier. Parts of the melody sound quite despairing which also helps match the gloomy nature. The organ sound evokes images of a Dracula-esque castle where I would absolutely imagine these Pokemon wanting to hang out. Nice work and thank you for sharing!

Of course! I re-read my comment and it maybe reads a little more critical than I was intending. This is some quality music and ratio of things that I liked versus things that did not sit really well is not accurately represented in my comment. Seriously great work on this.

The initial bells remind me of the deep-sea sound that the game New Pokemon Snap uses. So you sold me on the geographical location right off the bat. The thick kick is what helps give this theme good correlation to the character since Wailord is known for being the largest Pokemon. I like how the theme grows and fades like the gentle giant is slowly drifting past in the murky depths of the ocean. I particularly enjoyed the nylon string sound and the shakers that enter soon after. Great work and thank you for sharing!

The quality of your composition and orchestration are quite impressive and match the haunted, melancholic, and dreamy nature of this misunderstood Pokemon. I like the inclusion of the wood block knocking sound which to me maybe seems like an acoustic reference to the character design where the tail seems to be made from a stick. I think that when the hi-hat comes in, possibly having the volume turned down or panned to one side might have allowed me to focus more on the really beautiful oboe melody at that part on the first couple listens through. Outside of this, I think this is an excellent loop that is tailor-made for Mimikyu. Excellent work on this and thank you for sharing!

This track is one of my favorite interpretations for the direction you selected. I probably would not have thought that this track was describing Clefairy if I didn’t have the context, but I really love imagining that this is what they are all dancing to under the moonlight. The melody and the beat are really catchy in this track and I also think your pacing and structure is exceptional to provide great variation and keeps me engaged throughout. I could imagine this being from the Pokemon Colosseum soundtrack! Great work on this. Thank you for sharing!

I really like your choice of using phrygian colors. The use of the original game boy sounds have a theremin-like quality which really sells the ghostly nature of Haunter. The vamp you use between I and bII reminds of some early Pokemon battle themes so I think you were able to correlate this theme really well. I like the upbeat percussion and it did feel like I was in a battle throughout. Nice work and thank you for sharing!

This collection of sounds is so ethereal and magical. I particularly love the voice that emerges toward the climax. I think this works really well as a Cresselia theme as I imagine it majestically floating in the sky, not necessarily going anywhere fast, but just being beautiful in its stillness and ambience. Great work and thank you for sharing!

The ear candy of this piece is quite nice. Within the first 5 seconds, you intrigued me and captured my attention with a unique blend of sounds. I think the strength of this piece comes in the ability to capture the vibe of Deoxys, like you were painting a picture with sound. I think that the randomness of the chords and and lead voice made it a little hard to follow, but I suppose this could be a reference to Deoxys being the “DNA Pokemon” which I suppose is something that feels random at the granular level, but makes more sense and creates something beautiful on a macro scale. Nicely done here. Thank you for sharing!

The dark synth sound and trailing echo is quite reminiscent of the original Pokemon Red and Blue track “Team Rocket’s Hideout” which is thematically quite fitting for a Mewtwo track. I really love the intervals in the first measure. It is unique and catchy and works really well as a “Mewtwo motif”. The contrast with the brassy sound introduces a heaviness that almost adds a comical nature that I imagine as representing the clumsiness of a lab scientist, perhaps. The overall feeling of this piece feels mysterious and toward the end, more bombastic. This leads to an interesting and unique vengeance feeling. Nice work and thank you for sharing!

I think this is one of the best examples of using the theme to write for the very specific character you had in mind. The Jigglypuff in the anime certainly has two polar personalities which is conveyed remarkably strongly with these very contrasting styles. I like that you used elements of the original “Jigglypuff” song in your theme, but it genuinely sounds like an adaptation of that song that would exist in the original gameboy games if it were included. I liked imagining the angry Jigglypuff face when hearing the metal portions. Nice work and thank you for sharing!

Okay that's good that my interpretation matches this. I gave 5 stars for uniqueness! I think that would be a good change for clarification and to encompass all of what you are trying to capture.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment and for your attentive listening! I really appreciate hearing that our individual voices and creativities are apparent, but the synergy of our styles was effective. We certainly felt so! Thank you again and it was a pleasure jamming with you again!

Thank you so much for listening and sharing your thoughts! It's really nice to be able to share another jam with you - you have been such a consistent presence in many of the jams I've participated in. Maybe it's silly to say, but I feel like we have "grown up" together in our music making and its fun to see how far we've both come!

Thank you so much! We learned a lot from each other and I'm glad the project benefitted from our collaboration!

This is such a kind comment. Thank you for your attentive listening and for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate you commenting on liking the transitions between various styles - we wanted a variety that all still resonated with the theme and our game idea and we are proud of what we made! Thank you again for such kind words!

Thank you so much for listening and giving this kind comment! We definitely had Mario Galaxy in mind as a prominent reference, and some of the game play I imagined stems from some of the levels from SMG so I'm glad that came to mind while you were listening! I'm glad the linear approach sat well with you - that was a fun experiment!

Thank you for listening!

Thank you so much - you have hit on very specific adjectives we were aiming for!

Main Theme (Lost): The upward arpeggios and suspended chords create such a floaty and thought-provoking environment. Contrary to the deep sadness you describe, I think that there is a gentle and somewhat blue mood that is also infused with a dose of awe that turns the overall mood into a content loneliness very fitting for being up in space. I love the piano - the reverb is so spacious and beautiful. Somehow you managed to make it so there is no clashing despite the long reverb tail. This is a very beautiful track overall - well done!

Moon Rock Waltz: Those shimmery plucks create a starburst sound we really wanted to make in our submission - but you executed it perfectly. The harmony in this piece is moving closer to the sadness that you describe, but the lively dance-like feel contrasts this and injects almost a sense of love into the track.

Ode to Stardust: Instant nostalgia for Cosmic Cove Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy 2! I love the piano arpeggio style that has such a weightless cosmic feel. The melody is quite beautiful and the heart-wrenching harmony drives the longing sadness (contrary to despair) in deep.

Overall you have captured a very magical space sound that has a paradoxical distant intimacy. Bravo with your space palette which is very beautiful and well-balanced. This is an exceptional OST. Thank you so much for sharing!

Sheni: The initial gated glitchiness seemed to place us directly in the biology research lab. The beat (very well-produced by the way) then seemed to shift the focus to the determination and drive of the main character in the story. The piano seems to represent the humanness of the situation and does a nice job working with the more technological electronic instruments and percussion. My favorite part of the track was 1:47 until the end with the really creative sound design!

REM: Equally impressive production on this track! There is more of an urgency to this track and I love the sound design at the break point about half way through where there are instrumental elements that seem like a heart beat and sirens. The organ at 1:30 was an unexpected choice, but I love the dire and climactic tone it delivers to finish out the track.

These tracks are impressively cohesive which I think was one of the biggest hurdles we faced in the collaboration on our submission. Thank you for the story you wrote - it was engaging and provided great context that helped me really appreciate your tracks to the fullest potential! I’m very curious about the white dwarf star and it would be fun to hear more tracks that describe the remainder of the story. Great job with the collaboration and thank you both for sharing!

The initial ambience sets the mood perfectly, but then the highlights of the piece - the dual guitars - enter and steal the show! They are written and performed so well. I think the uplifting first half shifting into the more mysterious second part so smooth and natural sounding that I almost didn’t realize that what I was listening to was a new space the first listen through. The part at 4:15 was the highlight of the entire song for me. The tremolo backing the gorgeous otherworldly melody was just so well-done. Great work on this and thank you for sharing!

Before I read your description, I was wondering if the sounds at the beginning were made from an ambient crowd noise recording because I couldn’t think of another way to create such a dynamic ambience. That’s really creative and the results are spectacular. The randomness of the electronic tones gives a strong sense of sci-fi technology, but I like that you kept the tones diatonic (as far as I can tell) and then they slowly come into focus toward the end of the track. This was a really interesting track and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it! Great work and thank you for sharing!

I think there is something to be said about monotony in a space theme. I’ve never been to space, but I imagine that a majority of the time it’s not as glamorous as movies often make it seem. It takes a long time to get anywhere up there and there is probably a lot of waiting. That being said, I think that this track as an ambient track does a nice job of identifying a specific setting and the production allows us to feel like we, as the main character, are there. Expanding on this idea and adding a second section for an ABA pattern is the next step that will elevate this to the next level! Thank you for sharing!

This is such a nice feel-good track! Excellent quality on this. It has very nice pacing with several new elements that energize the repeated chord progression. I felt very safe with your production skills throughout and just vibed the first two listens through. This track would work really well as the background track for a small fun game that people reach for when they want to pass the time and get a little dopamine rush. Great job on this and thank you for sharing!

The initial ambience is very smooth and feels like liquid - moving but very fluid. The violin melody that emerges is haunting and beautiful. I think that your orchestration overall is very well-written (I especially love the blasty brass parts). I do think that with the first part of the piece and the more ambient parts having such a fluid sound, that the rest of the instruments would benefit from a little more spacious reverb to match. I really like the doubling of the brass hits with the crunchy bass to get a really thick and splattery sound. Nice work on this and thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the introduction to the genre of space western that I didn’t know I was missing! You do a great job making all the individual instruments feel natural together and have a live performance quality. The section at 2:15 was really fun with the bluesy organ and then of course the 2:50 blast off trumpet was spectacular. I had to look up what Soundpaint was because that trumpet is really an incredible VST. This was a really fun track and I loved the story that you wrote. Excellent work and thank you for sharing!

I think that initially the string orchestration feels very bottom heavy and a little like moving chords, but at 0:47, you can hear the strings each take their own line and the voice leading sounds more organic. I really like the spiccato section in the middle as it changes the mood and the pacing and functions to help keep the momentum of the song moving forward. The final section of the song is layered quite nicely and I really love the violin melody at this point at 2:30. I felt both pensive and longing in this track which I think fits with the description you provide. Well done! This was a pleasant listen, thank you so much for sharing!

Enter A World of Wonders: I listened to this track once through before reading your description and I was imagining a sort of dark academic library setting and feeling the wonder and awe of all of the ideas and possibilities around you. In a way, your description feels similar and I still imagine a similar type of building. I love the mixture of long and short, legato and plucky, droning and energetic instrumentation and writing that I think does a great job of conveying both wonder as well as magnitude for the number of choices and different colors there are in this hub.

A Space Between Worlds: I really like the music box-like glockenspiel/vibraphone combo that initially gives a fresh and natural flavor and ends with more of a nighttime lullaby feel. The flute melody is quite beautiful, and I think maybe it could have a more natural breathing pattern if there was some motion in the expression to make it feel a little more reactive and alive. The drums add a natural wooden quality that amplifies the forest environment, but also conveys an almost foreboding tone that seems to represent caution in this new environment.

Your New Home: This track conveys a sense of warmth and almost regal feeling that makes me think the main character feels very at home and has a personal sense of pride in their new land. I think this track was a little different than I was expecting, though the composition and orchestration remains well-made!

Overall I like the more intimate (versus spacious and expansive) approach you took on the theme supported by each of these tracks. The story feels much more personal because of this. I think my favorite track was the first one for the orchestration, but also it seemed to fit the theme images the best. Great work on this and thank you for sharing!

I wish there was a creativity category in this jam because you would certainly have the highest score of anyone in this jam in my opinion. I love how you stepped out of the box and applied the theme from several different approaches. I will be using the uniqueness category to convey these thoughts and you have full points from me there. Your production is really strong and the composition also is a really nice blend of several widely varied types of instruments that you make sound quite natural together. I think my one thought giving me pause on this track is the melody instrument that emerges at 2:18. It sounds quite thin, and while you help remedy this somewhat by having a swaying panning automation, as the orchestra builds really big around it it feels like it should be growing as well. Maybe that can be accomplished with slowly stopping the swaying and keeping it centered with a crescendo, or maybe it can be doubled by a wider instrument? In any case, I don’t think that it detracts from the beauty of this piece. I enjoyed it and would be quite at ease hearing this in a game. Great work and thank you for sharing!
