Thanks so much for the kind comment! It really means a lot coming from an amazing composer like you, Selkione. My dream is to someday compose for JRPGs, but I still have a long way to go. I'm really thankful for these jams for giving me the chance to listen to and learn from composers like you.

Yeah, this piece has a lot of great stuff going for it. I for sure heard the improvements, your bass and percussion had a lot of life to them, and paired with your usual catchy melody, made this super fun to listen to! I could tell you put in a lot of effort, and it definitely paid off.
I wasn't able to join the OST Crunchtime Jam (it's been a crazy few months for me, and I didn't have the time to do this jam and the OST jam), but I'll head on over and check out your tracks!
Oh yeah, I totally get that, I'll be working on a piece and think it's perfect, then the next morning I notice so many things my ear had gotten used to and missed. And for the whistling, I really admire the fact you actually recorded it, that's super cool, and you definitely did it way better than I ever could've. You've kinda inspired me to try something like that in the future, and maybe incorporate my own piano playing into a piece.
Thanks so much! Really glad you liked it. For the middle section, I get what you mean. I actually used to have a more fuller arrangement there, but opted to pull out a lot of the layers so you could better hear the duet between the two voice lines. I'll see if I can get a happy medium so it's neither too sparse or too full. Thanks for the feedback!
Very nice piece! As a piano player, it reminded me of the music I played back when I accompanied other instrumentalists and vocalists for credit, fun times. I think the balance between the two instruments is really well done, it's so beautifully written I wish the piece went on a bit longer to showcase more interplay between the clarinet and piano. Great job!
I like the overall vibe you're going for! The uplifting rhythm and the melody are really nice, and the whistling is a great idea for the theme you're going for, though it is a tad bit off key. If you haven't yet, I think you could try using some quantization to clean up some of the rhythms in there to improve cohesion between your various instrument parts.
I like this a lot! I especially like how the harmonies never let you quite 'land' anywhere, it's always a mystery where we're headed, which makes it a lot of fun to listen to. Great job!
On a side note, thanks so much for hosting these challenges, I learned a ton from composing with the monthly challenges and listening to everyone's submissions. It was a great experience, and also the most fun I've had composing in a while. I really appreciate it.
Really atmospheric and nice! I wonder if you could create a sense of distance with the percussion as well, most of the music felt very grand and distant like I was overlooking a landscape, but the claps and shaker felt extremely close to me. Maybe applying a touch of reverb or delay, along with tweaking the mix, might help with that?
Such a great boss BGM! It's very evocative, and I can imagine the boss area this would play in. In the beginning, are the bagpipes slightly off-time by design? At first it sounded a bit odd to me, but after listening for a bit, it felt chaotic in a good way. Really enjoyed listening to this, nice job!
Awesome atmospheric tracks! I like how all of the instruments mesh together to create a strong, cohesive vibe to the whole music, and the woven in details are really nice. You already do this a bit, but I wish you scaled back the guitar and drums even more at times, to create contrasting sections that not only have a different texture, but also lets us listeners rest our ears a bit. Although I enjoyed the music, the constant full sound sometimes made my ears a bit tired. Overall, great job though!
Great catchy tune! Also, awesome job with the animation! I liked it a lot, the only thing I noticed was the VSTs playing the melodies all had a rather similar sharp texture. Maybe you could try replacing one of them with a more noticeably different texture from the others to vary the sound a bit more?
Wow, thanks so much for sharing this! I really appreciate it, I'll check it out! Yeah, Japanese instrument VSTs are pretty limited, but I have found one free one that I love using, it's this Taiko (Japanese drum) VST: https://schristiancollins.com/vi-percussion.php. I highly recommend it. The sound is pretty high quality, and with some reverb, it sounds very cinematic as well.
