Description
Hello! This soundtrack is an amalgamation of different styles and inspirations from other platformers I've played over the years.
The genres I would give it are Synth. Hip-hop, Chiptune, and some R&B thrown in there.
Each track is a love letter to tropes and styles from older and newer games.
Track 0 is just your standard file select screen
Track 1 is the first level overworld theme that most games. It's super light and easy to get into
Track 2 is the obligatory desert level that follows, except it blends the Egyptian trope with a Western twist
Track 3 is so Christmas coded, it's not even funny.
Track 4 is that Jungle level that has the huge tree in the middle.
Track 5 is the training stage really.
Track 6 is the shop theme. (fun fact: This was inspired by the options menu from Mario Party)
Track 7 is a message of triumphant noise that fills hearts with content and fascination. Please listen to it when you have accomplished a daring task!
This project was all done in Logic Pro! The compositions for each of these have a healthy mix of default instruments, and some sampled instruments from my Casio keyboard. Each track is not looped for style purposes and length, but I plan to post looped ones later because I personally like looped tracks. Each track is roughly 2-3mins
Thank you for reading all of this!
Message from the artist
I love that this Jam gives me and so many others to part-take in a dream that so many others have. Video game music is something a lot of people grow up with, and it can make a huge impact on a person.
Personally, video game music affected me and my style so much, that I want to give back that affection someday. My hope during this Jam (or in the future) is that someone listens to one of my tracks and goes, "That was really cool, where's the 30 min version!" And I hope that people in this Jam get that feeling too!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
The MC gets caught in a trap that looks to be these levels that are based off of Video games in general. The trapper is this illusion-maker ghost. The Idea is that each track is supposed to be made up of tropes in a world that isn't real, conjured by the specter.

Just came back to let you know after rating near 200 entries, this one was my favorite. It’s so catchy and original as well. I even listen to it while driving, it's amazing. Thanks a lot for sharing this! PD: my new favorite is “A Training Song To Train To”… that melody!!
This is kinda like MF Doom beats but with video game sounds haha! I can't stop SHMOOVING.
YOUTUBE VERSION HERE!
This was insanely good! I love the jazz undertones you got there! Amazing job!!
So much fun and so videogamey! I really dig the different tracks presenting such different biomes, while still being part of a cohesive whole.
What a vibe, I really enjoyed it.
My favorite one is Help! My Song Is Stuck In A Tree
It reminded me a lot of playing Wonderland Adventures Game :]
PS - would ya interested in my new pyramid ? :]
First of all, cover art 10/10
Second: this soundtrack is amazing!!! I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Jazz harmony here and there, I absolutely love it!
Excellent work!!
This is really well-done. Each track sounds cohesive with the rest, which elevates the whole concept. Great job.
Loved it!
I really liked the titles for each track as well!
I am reminded of N64 3D platformers of course like Banjo-Kazooie and whatnot.
I don't want to seem like I am self-endorsing but assuming you like the Banjo Kazooie style soundtrack, I think you would like this OST I made not at all related to this Jam where I made my own original Banjo Kazooie game OST.
I'll link it on the actual Itch page as to not clutter this comment section.
This could easily by the soundtrack to some long-lost N64 or PS1 game, you have a really great authentic style! Each song feels perfectly suited to their described uses, and your composition is great throughout. I love Help! My Song Is Stuck In A Tree, it's such a unique take on a jungle theme that doesn't rely on the usual clichéd instruments.
Fantastic work!
fun entry! I'm a sucker for an obligatory desert level music hehe.
A long and high-quality soundtrack? I LOVE IT!
Select Your Illusion Please - Heh... It sounds like a selection menu
What A Wonderful (Over)world is such a light composition... Well suited for the first world
Please Invest In My Pyramid Scheme - Ahem... i hear... Hip hop desert? Creatively...
This Song Is So Cold, You'll Need A Blanket - AHHH CHRISTMAS! GIFTS! SANTA!
Help! My Song Is Stuck In A Tree - Going to the Jungle? It's cool (Often when games have levels in the jungle - there is a very difficult platforming. Or I'm just not playing well...)
A Training Song To Train To Is Very nice... SYNTHESIZERS!!!1! (Lol, is the training stage in the middle of the game? I want such a joke in a real game!)
How About This One (Question Mark) - O.... Ok... O... *SQSQSQ* OK....
(7) You Did It! - Definitely the best track in this soundtrack)))
You have turned out a very beautiful and diverse music that you want to dance to! Definitely suitable as an OST in the game! Each track is unique and has its own spirit. Cool!
Thanks!
P.S. I listened to your soundtrack twice. Heh)
Great work making a soundtrack with this many tracks that are this varied. "Help! My Song Is Stuck In A Tree!" was a personal favorite. While it doesn't fit the theme, this was a great listen!
Amazing. The whole vibe is so cool. And I loved "What a Wonderful World."
O man I love the story and game you came up with for this! So fun and creative! This is also quite a big project so great job getting it done in the time limit. The songs are really fun and do a great job of matching their purpose in the game. The desert theme goes so hard I would absolutely waist time just running around there. I think there is a little too much open high hat in song 5 and the ice level is a bit sleepy for my personal tastes but there is not denying that you went crazy mode this jam! Great job!!!
Thank you so much! You're absolutely right about song 5 (I believe you mean the training one). I'll be super honest, not my favorite one. I was getting no sleep by the time I started composing this one, and when deadlines came up, I decided to focus on the ones I liked a lot. This one deserves some more love and adjusting, but in the future. For right now, I'm content. I'm glad you enjoyed my stuff!
Oo i love these tracks! Totally sound like songs that I would just listen to just for fun and most likely gonna add these songs to one of my playlists to jam to lol. I also love how each track has a different unique feel and personality yet they all still sound like they would definitely come from the same game. Really nice!
This is really awesome to hear/see! I should let you know that I'll have looped ones later if you're looking for some extra minutes on a song! I think all musicians look forward to people replaying their songs, but with videogames, it is an absolute goal to make them replayable. So thank you for this comment, it really means a lot!
This soundtrack is teeming with charm! You’ve got a wonderful knack for engaging melodies, I was all ears during my full listen! I had a giggle at the names too! Amazing work!
Very groovy! I enjoyed every track and they all had a lot of personality. I think some of these could sound great on a cover with more acoustic instruments.
Really digging the retro feel of these! Nice work!
Excellent job! Great chord progressions, catchy melodies, groove and overall sound. I really enjoyed every song, this OST is so diverse but it is still very coherent. It's so hard for me to choose a favorite, maybe What a Wondeful (Over)world... its wonderful indeed! Are you a fellow pianist right? :D
I am! I will say that I'm not the best at it though. It took me a while to find the chords and progressions that I liked for this Jam. of course, everything is subjective when it comes to jazz, it's just a matter of making the chords make sense! Thank you for the kind words, i'm glad you enjoyed it!
