There's a really nice base for an expanded and juicy game. As it is, it needs a bit of checking-up (especially with the walls' collision and maybe making the minimum speed for a hitbox slightly lower, for example), but there's already some really cool stuff that you managed here! The particles, speed effects, and overall setting of the room worked nicely, as well as the classic back-and-forth of offense and defense. I will say that it's relatively trivial to continue surviving, though. What if the player can curve around objects as well, grappling them and then turning around them? This would make movement more dynamic (if you added, say, nodes which could be turned around, or just making any surface like that), make it a bit harder to master, and it would throw a wrench into the movement in such a way that could fix the problem of a player just optimally escaping right as they've done damage. This way, they'd need to build up angular speed, too, and be more considerate of which enemies they'll accidentally be running into while trying to flank them!

TL;DR: I enjoyed the game! Good stuff. If you want to expand this, consider adding some curves to the player's toolkit by allowing them to swing around things, and add some tunes.

Cheers!

Good core, my gripe was with the collisions with the walls. The walls and pillars aren't transparent, and things, me included, would "hide" behind them which felt glitchy. Sometimes I'd get stuck around looking for a pick-up. It often felt like the momentum of play was often interrupted. Perhaps let the player keep some of their momentum after bouncing off, or redirecting it in some way, or maybe even increasing the damage and accelerating if the player deals a killing blow, to line up an awesome shot.

A lot to do with this concept, and the effects were really good!

Neat concept, and it feels great when everything falls into place. The mages spent most of the time hiding under walls so I had to kind of guess where they were - that was more tedious than challenging imo.

I wouldn't have minded some popcorn opponents with relatively low health pools. Bouncing off a chicken after you get a full map grapple off kinda kills some of the momentum of play. I'd either increase the movespeed of the player (and have a separate lower movespeed for when they're grappling and trying to swing to either side) or get rid of non-grapple movement entirely.

As it is right now it's unclear from the get-go how the game wants you to move around and if you buy into the grapple-to-get-around instead of just attack, the current movement doesn't serve much purpose.

I hope some of that was helpful. I enjoyed my time with it and wouldn't mind seeing a more realized version of the game in the future.

Really fun jam entry! The grappling mechanic is actually really satisfying and the sound is great. It would be nice to have some kind of mechanic where you can keep your momentum and chain your grapples through multiple enemies.

Great mechanic, good feel on impact.  Really fun and should be expanded on! :D

Nice game man! I loved the exploding chicken animation and particles, that felt really polished. The grappling feature and sounds were wonderful, and overall the game feels like it has a high level of polish. However, when going into a wall, the player becomes invisible, which makes it a little harder than it needs to be. I also found myself taking unnecessary damage when going into two chickens and the one I'm hitting doesn't die, something to think about maybe. All in all, good game!

Cool idea with a lot of strategic possibilities. Few visual problems like enemies walking behind walls and you can't see them.

Grappling hook games are so goddamn fun

You should expand on this my guy

I really like the mechanic. Wish there was music. Nice work!

Nice, fast paced game.

I liked the particles and a lot of the audio. Smashing into stuff at high speed was great. It feels good to go between objects to build momentum. It was pretty "juicy" which was nice.

The only big thing I would change would be it's hard to see where you are when you crash into a wall, because you stop inside it. Other than that, I think levels with varied layouts would let you use the grappling in different ways which would be cool.

Overall, I liked it, and I think with a bit more polish it would be great.
