One of the best in the jam. I knew right from the lovely title screen that it was going to be good. I get the point but I think I might consider speeding up the player a little bit at the very start. It's my feeling that an HTML5 game needs to grab you in the first few seconds of gameplay, and honestly the first few seconds of gameplay here felt like a letdown (after the exciting title screen and music). It improved VASTLY after a few upgrades, but I just feel it took a little bit too long to get there. It should never feel like a chore to play a game, and it did for the slightest bit there at the start.

That's really the only criticism I can think of. Great music & sound. Lovely graphics. Smooth gameplay (aside from my critique), interesting level layouts. This is a winner. Great stuff, kudos all around.

Hi Melwing, thank you very much for the feedback and the support! That was exactly the area we struggled the most with and sadly it shows…

I’m very happy you still had fun!

last thing , you can pass  through a wall on a lower right room where the wall is thin.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The levels are generated randomly with rooms, and our programmer didn’t have time to make the rooms work perfectly (because I had him change the way the levels were generated very late in the jam) Sorry about that, hope you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

nice work, it looks like a procedural dungeon, art is wow.  the character controller  is too slow at the beginning for me . i really like the dungeon changing , very nice work for this.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! The procedural dungeon was implemented at the last couple of hours by our talented prog. He did a great job with the time he had! (and it would have been 100% better if I didn’t have him change it from the random tile generated level ^^”)

it greats experience for the programmer, i working on room generation for my next jam.

Great idea! I wish you luck I suggest the work of Ondrej Nepozitek https://ondrejnepozitek.itch.io/edgar-pro or check unity’s dedicated post about that. I’ll be glad to test it so feel free to send me a link to your game once you made it! (mp on insta https://www.instagram.com/ouyair/ )

thanks for the share. i am working on  simple dungeon  spawn rooms in 3d and put some ml agents inside... might take a while lol

OMG I really LOVE the dashing bugs when you max out your speed! Really fun to play!

Developer

Yeah, some things in the game are still a little broken, I personally max out the dash cooldown reduction then dash length, I’ll try speed next time!

Really nice job on this one! Everything felt very solid and thought out, the soundtrack is amazing too. Also good incorporation of both the theme and limitation. It felt great being able to upgrade my abilities and being less worried about the reaper than I was at the beginning. The collision did feel stiff at times (mainly when I was trying to escape the reaper), but that's my only real complaint.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed it and we’re sorry you didn’t get to have the experience we expected player to have, but that’s how game jams are! Again, thank you!

really great presentation the art looks awesome

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Our team worked hard on this project and it feels really rewarding getting kind comments!

i like the art, i hate the sound, but i get it , overall not bad

Developer

I'm sorry you feel that way about the sound. Do you have any recommendations on how it could be improved? For it, we were going for a classic NES game style. I understand how it could rub you the wrong way, though.

Submitted

no, its just me, i hate annoying and irritating sounds, it cant drag me in and its what i love in the games, i think its just fine for your thematic, but maybe little less beepy bup would be much nicer from my view

Developer(+2)

Thanks for elaborating! I will keep this in mind moving  forward.

nice game! the gameplay was challenging, the controls are responsive and I like the graphics, and sound effects, it gives an arcade feel to the experience,  overall I enjoyed playing! keep it up!

Developer

Thank you for the comment, we hope the controls and hitbox didn’t ruin the experience too much.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, such a nice concept with upgrading your character after your death

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Hope you enjoyed playing as much as we had fun making the game!

Submitted(+1)

Great game and pretty design. Sometimes I collide with i don't know what but apart from that is a really funny game.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We are aware of the issue with collision but weren’t able to fix it. (btw, you might be colliding with some of the randomly generated walls, and some of them are really small, if you play the game again watch out for these thin walls)

Submitted(+1)

I like the old-school graphics and sound effects. The limited color palette is great. It looks like there is quite a bit of content there.

Unfortunately, the movement is way too slow. I understand that iterative playthroughs make the character faster and more capable, but it's very frustrating to hold down the button and watch him crawl across the screen like that. :) Also, if there is a way to avoid the Reaper, I haven't figured it out. Lastly, one minor point, the collision is a bit too unforgiving.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! We are aware of these issues, sadly we didn’t have time to correct them… I hope you still had fun playing our game!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game!

Sometimes I got stuck for no reason, and the movement is a little bit annoying, but I think that's it.

The idea is pretty basic, but nicely done.

Great job and keep up the good work!! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback We had a simple design with simple gameplay that we enjoyed making! I hope you enjoyed it as well. Sorry for the issues with collision and movement, we weren’t able to fix them in time.

Submitted(+1)

This is really fun little roguelike, but sometimes it feels like the reaper is too overpowered.

Developer

I’m glad you had fun and I’m sorry to hear about your experience. The game would have benefited from more playtesting and 2 more days to fix issues and clean the game!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting use of the limitation. At first I found the movement to be surprisingly slow, but through upgrades it gets better. The atmosphere was pretty good too. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

I’m happy to hear that, our team worked hard to get there. Thank you for the feedback, hope you had fun.

Submitted(+1)

Limitation fit well and presentation is great but collision is a bit off, with you not being able to walk through some gaps while also being able to walk through some walls

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. I am to blame for the wall issues as I had the game switch from a randomly generated level to a randomly generated room layout. I hope you still had fun!

Submitted(+1)

I had multiple issues where I couldn't fit through gaps, however the concept and use of limitation is good.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! We are aware of these issues but weren’t able to fix them. I hope they didn’t impair your experience too much. In case you’d like to play the game again, keep an eye out for thin walls, as they are pretty hard to spot.

Submitted(+1)

Very cool! The concept is great, and the presentation is solid. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much! We had a lot of fun making this game and we’re glad you liked it!
