Ranked 15 out of ~72 huh? Not bad. ^_^;

My game for once is not floating at the halfway mark this time

Your literal interpretation of a "shooting star" is amusing and the background music sounds like something ZUN could have written himself, so I didn't mind that the game was too easy.

Developer

Thanks!

Esp. the ZUN part lol the music is indeed very heavily modeled after Touhou melodies and progressions (esp. Clownpiece's theme) and the instruments are PC-98 soundfonts XP

Great game! I really enjoyed the feel of the game. I enjoyed how an angle spawning pushes away all of the demons, both a great way to keep the angels from getting killed to quickly and I nice effect too. I think some sort of score in addition to angels saved would be cool,  combo for killing multiple demons with one dash or some sort of additional benefit would be nice. The dash already feels great, I just think that would make it feel better. Some sort of hit indicator on the demons would be nice too, my first playthrough I wasn't sure if the shots did damage or not. Overall quality game!

Good use of limitation. I liked the game. The controls felt a little bit weird though.

Nice job

Btw thank you for your comment.

Very nice yet simple game! The music was very nice as well. There is a bit of a delay between turning your mouse and the star moving in that direction though, probably because of something with shooting interrupting the movement.  Other than that though it was very fun. Nice job!

Developer

Actually... the movement is solely by the shooting so... of course :P

Good game but the shooting seemed a bit weak and unnecessary. felt like the best thing was to just use the speed boost the defeat the enemies.

Developer(+1)

Yeah. I suppose that would need rework if I were to expand this game XP

Fun stuff. The music was great, I see that you composed it yourself. I really wish the shooting was either not automatic OR the shooting lined up with the beat of the music. At first, I thought it was lined up and it reminded me of crypt of the necromancer.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

I actually tried to make it match w/ the beat; but I have got a feeling there are two problems:

1. I think sometimes the music starts a few miliseconds later than the game itself due to lag and this can shift the beat in relation to the shots

2. The music is 160BPM -- 1 beat is 0.375s and this is the timer I set for my shots. The game itself is 60fps -- 1 frame is 0.01667s. 0.375 is unfortunately not a multiple of 0.01667 so I think due to this the shots will start to go out of sync after a while. I think this could've worked better at 150BPM gameplay wise (1 beat is 0.4s and so I can use either 0.2s or 0.4s) but I haven't checked how the music sounds if I reduced the tempo to 150BPM. 180BPM can also work gameplay wise but from my experience my musics usually sounds silly at that tempo.

Nice that you were thinking about that. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of engines have an issue with 100% accurate timers but I'm sure there are workarounds for that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The music was really chill and fit well, the art was simply beautiful, the use of the limitation was pretty nice, and I liked the scrolling background movement in the back as well. I also love how you balanced the game out by allowing the player to be able to reach in time to save the angel seeing there were so much demons. I had to cut it short at 120 angels recused since it was kind of becoming a bit easy for me. XD

Only thing I have in my opinion are the controls were a bit chunky when it came to turning angles. Also, I would of loved to see a bit more mobs because this game was really interesting. But I seen you had to rush sadly so its fine. Amazing work on the game!

Thanks for the feedback!

Glad you enjoyed the music. It's actually the part of the game I'm the least confident of during the making process since I'm not a composer and composing a music usually takes a week for me. Tbh this time I kind of... modeled it after some certain musics; take a listen to this:

Though... you said the music was chill? Damn then the music kinda failed to achieve its purpose here because I used chromatics to make the music somewhat fits the idea of a city in chaos. Was aiming for this kind of vibe:

Yep. Unfortunately I too rushed my game XP

Ikr regarding the diff curve. I know it's getting too easy even though I keep summoning more and more demons m(_ _)m

More mobs is def a great idea. A faster type of demons is def needed here. Maybe ranged attackers and demons that CAN affect the player's ability to just rush to the angels too.

Honestly, I'm not a composer either, but I'm trying to make some 8 bit music myself, and I feel it would of taken me quite a bit just to create the music you did. You definitely did really good starting out. I guess I said it was chill because after listening to the music you sent from Youtube, I realized your music lacked the depth and the base it needs to make it sound impactful. Maybe having lower pitched music and a bit of triangle sounds and drums would of definitely improved it a bit more. But like I said, the music was really good seeing your still practicing making music. :D

I definitely felt you there when you couldn't add the ideas you wanted. I wanted the boss to have more attacks and I wanted to properly align my pixels, but I couldn't sadly.

Yeah those ranged attackers and demons would give a bit more of a challenge indeed. Still, you balanced the game really well though.
