Interesting concept!

Had a great time with it, very fun concept. I agree adding some more complicated puzzles would go a long way. The presentation was also great!

Trapped in a Faraday cage, very clever! The voice is so funny and the particles are very satisfying!

I think it crashed at the end, it was frozen here:

Nice use of lighting and very creative use of "on a timer", good job

What a charming little puzzle game. Ecaroh is adorable. The great animations and solid sound design along with the cute voicework really make for a fun vibe. While the puzzles are enjoyable, they could use more complexity - spamming junctions trivializes them. Adding junction limits or a scoring system would spice things up. Still, the game’s presentation is top-notch, and it really makes Ecaroh feel like a character you’d want to see more of. Overall, it’s a delightful experience.

I absolutely love the pixel art in this entry the little thunder character is just too adorable ! the animations are so smooth ! The concept is pretty clear and the level-design really is creative : super inspiring entry !

I am a bit curious to know how you made the voice-lines : was it recorded and high-pitched in audacity ?  The sound effects on the level selection sounded like a ice-cube as well, really cool !

Developer

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed playing! The level select sound was me shaking a glass jar full of crystals and rocks, with a little bit of post-processing added in audacity.

The voice acting was done by my bro, who is a true  audio wizard. 🧙 He has this to share about his process:

"I recorded it really low and mixed in white noise, resampled it up 2x, then time stretched it 33% slower using e2 transient method in Edison, then put compression > bitrate reduction > high and low pass EQ > dialed in the feedback and stages of a static phaser > and put a noise gate

the ticket was doing two passes with the stretching, you can get more lofi artifacts when slowing down as opposed to speeding something up"

Thanks for the comment!

Fantastic across the board.

Very nice aesthetic and feel, simple mechanic and fun

Very playable, but a bit too easy. Good game.

This game is awesome once I figured out how to do it. Controls are simple. I am just bad at reading tutorials :P
Great job and great concept.

P.S. I Really like the electricity visuals.

This is amazing, i love the art and the gameplay. super cool concept.

wow the art and music are so amazing

Really awesome job on this! The art and presentation are both just fantastic! I think a more challenging version of this with handcrafted levels would be a lot of fun. Idk if it would've been a good idea, but maybe you could've put every level on a timer so that there's a lose condition adding a bit of difficulty to the game since there wasn't enough time to hand craft levels.

Unfortunately I think I ran into a bug on level 5 when I should've won, the game completely froze and I was unable to continue. Other than that, had a great time with it, nice work!

Developer

Thank you for that suggestion! I think that would have been a great compromise for the time being. But to be honest I think just focusing more on level design would have been the best solution! It's definitely my weakest area of game dev skills... so naturally I went for what was more fun/easy which was audio visual haha. Next time I'll really focus on level design and fun, I think! Appreciate your feedback!

Also sorry to hear you had that bug! I thought I squashed it before I uploaded, but I guess it's still present. It has to do with switching to the "You Win" screen while a chain lightning is still occurring I think, which triggers something on a null object... thanks for the report and sorry for freezing your browser! Just know that you met the "win" condition for this demo :)

Really enjoyed the game animations and the character voice reminded me of something team17  would do! Did not like how easy it was, literally no effort needed to complete any levels when you have infinite nodes but other than that I enjoyed playing it and the art looked slick!

Yeah, visuals here are just gorgeous, and work very well with the choice of sfx and music. Voice acting caught me off guard, but in the end I really liked how it was done. Only issues were RNG being awkward sometimes, and abrupt ending transition, but those have already been mentioned in other comments, and don't detract from the whole "toying with pretty shiny lights in a happy carefree land" feel.

good fun, audio and visuals work together and make a nice cartoony atmosphere :)

Stellar presentation!

The level ending transition really caught me off guard, not going to lie ;D

Game mechanic is very interesting, hard to master though!

"Oh no!" I loved the visuals and the sounds a lot! I wished there was some kind of limitation on how many Junctions you can set but otherwise it was a very fun experience!

Submitted(+1)

The visuals on this one are super good. I like the sounds a lot too. But I think making the levels randomly generated makes the game super easy without any difficulty at all, that's a shame. Hand crafted puzzles with limited amount of Zap Junctions would be the best!

Developer(+1)

10000% agreed! That was my initial goal, but I fell back to implement randomization when I started running out of time and wasn't sure I could design real levels before the deadline. I definitely learned a valuable lesson: Focus on FUN FACTOR first and foremost. I may have spent a bit too much time on the visual/audio polish :P

Thank you so much for playing tho! I hope to make an update of this concept with REAL LEVELS and maybe even some FUN (?!) next!

Fun game after i relized the controlls! Audio was funny!
Good job!

this was fun, tho it does get a little boring after a while. Also are levels randomly generated? because i only realized it at the last level if they do. anyway cool idea and i liked the guy's sfx
