How was your experience with Mini Jam?
Fun! It was really nice to get back to making games again.

This game totally amused us! Congrats!

Maybe having more control on the position of the crabs or on the direction of the shoot could leave an even better memory!

Very cool game! I wish the player had more control over the crabs. But it's really fun!

I enjoyed this a lot! I was a little confused cause I didn't realized the crabs fought automatically. The music was catchy as well, good job!

Am I missing something or are half of the upgrades not doing anything? :P

Other than that, pretty good, well done!

Developer

The 4th card upgrade are all jokes! Since everything dies in one hit, defense, healing doesnt do anything and becoming bigger makes you a bigger target cX

Gotcha, makes sense, I didn't figure out it was always the 4th one :P

It is my FAVORITE Crab Arena sequel ever! I had been waiting it for ages and finally it is here! I am waiting for Crab Arena 5 and can't imagine how perfect it will be (It will be on a par with GTA6 at least)
Now seriously:
Pros: I love the music | interesting mechanic | really addicting | cool traits | funny jokes

Cons: no combat explanation (it took me a while to understand that I can only control a direction of a projectile)

Developer(+1)

I was REALLY hard making it a step up from Crab Arena 3 but I think we managed to get it over the standard!

I'm glad you found my lame jokes entertaining ahaha, I had a lot of fun making them with my partners in crime. I can definitely see now how much impact our lack of explanations have but I'm glad past that, the game is entertaining for most!

Really nice game, i like the mechanics, and the idea is awesome, good entry on the jam and good luck too :D

Submitted(+2)

Woahhhhh!!! This one was quite mysterious.. The concept was nice and so were the visual effects.
The color scheme was great. Loved it<3
Good luck with the jam. I hope you like other games too<3

I find this one very strange at first. It occurred to me several minutes into the game that I don't actually control the crabs. I also had trouble figuring out which one was mine. Once I got past that hurdle, I found myself enjoying watching my crab grow. Not bad!

Developer

Should added that into the info thinking about it now and seeing how unintuitive that decision was. Really happy to see that everyone who managed to get past said hurdle had as much fun as we did making the game

Submitted(+2)

Super fun! A little confusing at first but once I understood, I was getting hyped for my crabs to win the battle! I like the variety of upgrades and the helpful descriptions. Beat the boss after 4 playthroughs.

Developer(+1)

Just 4? That's better than all of us making the game! Thank you so much, that's exactly the feeling we wanted and had with the rounds going deeper c:

what a fun idea for a game!! upgrades always add a hook of replayability to a game! I personally liked the more passive approach to the gameplay, but if there was more strategy involved (some Controlled randomness), it would really elevate the experience :D

Developer

Thank you! Upgrades were really the name of the game here, we definitely put that as part of our core gameplay loop. Controlled randomness does sound like a really good  idea though, didn't consider it at all c:

I also agree with pello. Good art design, but I'd prefer a bit more gameplay, than just watching from sidelines (not my cup of tea, honestly).

Developer(+1)

Definitely can see that, it was inspired by some of the auto battlers, that said slight controls through either basic movement guiding or activatable skills, no time though :P

Submitted(+1)

We never have enough time, aren't we :)

GG!

I love card games and it’s hard to get it right, specially for this limitation. Maybe I would like to have more control of the outcome with my decisions, otherwise the art and the result is great for a weekend.

Developer

It was definitely something we took awhile to formulate but I think we came out alright on that front. We were also hoping to add slight movement controls but there wasn't enough time for that.

Fun game, thou the contols and upgrades are not really intuitive

Developer

Thank you! Was hoping to add slight movement controls but coming out with only 45 minutes before the deadline meant that there wasn't enough time ^^"
