Definitely hard, but also definitely fun. What a cute missile!
very nice and polished game, a little too hard for me heh
Best jam entry I have tried! The game is very well polished, the art style is amazing, the jump mechanic is unique and it is really satisfying when you jump over land or enemies
Overall a great game!
WOW. That was seriously fun. Boosting and jumping over an island felt cartoonishly bonkers but still very tactile. There's so much attention to detail here from the minimap, to the multiple explosions, to the variation of engine noise when you speed up that have really brough this game to life.
Dynamite dropping while fleeing felt so right, and the topographical layout of the map was gorgeous.
This was a real treat.
Woahh!! The game was quite interesting!! I loved the overall design of the game and the flow was perfect. The assets were nice and the movement was very smooth!
Loved the game<3
Good luck for the jam I hope you like other games in the jam too!!
BOOM awesome awesome game
Nice work. I love to see AI killing itself like that, lol. (once I had a 3-5? ships blowing each other by simply ramming each other :) )
I loved the mini map system and it has great gameplay and well done UI
The art is really nice, and boat movement is fun to play with
Using bundles of dynamite to kill enemies made me miss playing Blood. Pretty novel game concept, and the boat controls feels very nimble and swingy, lots of fun to drift around. They only issue I had was that the boost did not seem to work consistently, even if I had boost available. Not sure if that was intended. Overall, excellent job, I had fun!
Super nice! I really like the look of the game and it's very fun. I love that you can jump over the islands.
It seems like the game slows down on subsequent playthroughs though—I had to refresh to get it back to full speed.
Yeah, I've got a bug with the death slomo, if you click the Main Menu button before the screen fades to black fully it stays for the next run. And you want to click it fast, because I've added a slomo and it takes too long .
I didn't want to update the game after the jam was over (not even sure if it's possible tbh), so I left it in, lesson learned: don't mess with slomo 15 minutes before submission!
I really like the game. The UI reminds me of GTA
Yeah, I was looking for a font to use and it made sense to use a GTA inspired font for a game like this ^^ Thanks for playing!
This was a really good game. The boat was fun to move around and was whippy in a satisfying way
So I see you noticed that the boat truns better at certain speeds! Thanks for playing!
The enjoyment on this one is really high! Appreciation over the references to the famous AAA series featuring drifting vehicles and explosions :-) Very very nice!
The GTA reference kinda came in by accident, I was looking for a font to use in the game and saw this one and it clicked together, especially since GTA in my 90's brain is still top-down (watche the GTA 2 trailer if you haven't seen it, it's like a short movie!)
Thanks for the kind words and for playing my game!
Pros: perfect use of limitation, procedural generation, satisfying controls, cool special effects, appealing graphics
Cons: this game needs some music and sounds
Note: my best score is 7388) Is it good result
There are sounds, but I made them a bit too quiet I think, because the boat sound was so annoying :P
I started on a track for the game, too, but it was pretty bad, so I didn't put it in. My best score was around 20k, but I was playing it a LOT :P
Thanks for playing
I originally thought this game was super hard before I discovered the jump button. Oh man, did that make the game 10x better! What an awesome mechanic, paired with a great level design, explosions, and boost. Definitely the most fun game I've played from MJ 108 so far.
Edit: Add some blood pumping music! This game is too good to be silent!
The jump was added like 2h before submission and I gotta say, it was what the game needed all along ;d I has a music track made for it, but I only had like an hour to make it, so I didn't put it in, it was annoying :P
Thanks for playing!
Wow I'm amazed at all you put together all by yourself, in this time!
Big map, fun controls and gameplay, all the QOL (except you should add a button to restart so I don't need to grab my mouse ever again ;) ) plus the feedback, amazing
Could use some music too but really loved it!
No idea why I didn't think about keyboard controls for the buttons, it would be so simple, great point.
As for the music, I actually made a track for the game, but I only had like an hour to make it and I decided that it's pretty bad and would make the game feel worse - this way you can play your own music :P
Thanks for playing!
Great use of concept and scope of the game is really good. The way the boat moves is super good and it takes a lot of incredible work to make that so smooth with the drag and delay on direction. 10/10!
I was really surprised how quickly I got the boat to move well, that's the only reason I had time to make the missions and combo system work (and make the HUD look good).
And the enemy "AI" took like 10 minutes, it's actually very simple to make a this kind of movement ^^
Love the HUD! Very detailed and amazing visuals! Like everyone else in the comment section, the only problem I have is the controls. It's a bit stiff for me and the acceleration might need some tweaking. Overall, very cool game!
Oh yeah, the movement could certainly be much better, but there were supposed to be different boats and meta progression, too, so... :P
