Yes, it was a fun experience,

Was the resolution a challenge?
The hurdles we faced was fitting the text and fitting the UI. We overcame them by shrinking them them to it's limits.

What did you learn?
We learned how to create low resolution games which can be helpful in making low resolution games.

Lovely art.!

Nice idea with inversion.

Really cool idea, and loved the colour palette.

Tons of reading in a game is never great, and having to read 10 pages of tutorial at this resolution was a bit much.

Music was also a bit unpleasant.

Nice idea with the inversion mechanics, but the game was reasonably hard to uhnderstand… Had some inconsistent temperature changes not fitting the card description, but not sure why… maybe there’s a cap on how much variance temperature can have? Also the turn sequence was not too clear… I guess you had o use all your cards to end a turn (or at least that’s when I could move turns somehow) but that forces the player to use cards that are not good for the situation and you’d prefer to keep and build an strategy around in future turns. Agreed on the music becoming too repetitive and I would have preferred it to be not so loud or to be able to stop it while playing after a few turns.

Good potential on the idea, but requiring a bit of extra work to round up. Nice job nonetheless!

Interesting round based card battler… The inversion principle was quite novel - The actions the enemy would take were quite hard to remember, it might have been good to also write them down below in the description….

I liked the graphics… the sound was also good but the music got quite repetitive quite quickly - in general good job :)

Its a really interesting concept i would like to see it explore more, i wish insted of one boss you would fight a lot smaller enemies because it does start to drag after a while.

There is the very interesting concept of inversions in here. I think there is great potential to explore this mechanic and also it's really cool that the cards interact with various environmental effects.

However there were some problems I had with the game:

  • It wasn't clear to me whether it was hot or cold, and it also wasn't very clear whether temperature conditions have any effects on the opponent (and yourself)
  • After I used the first hand of cards I couldn't do anything anymore. If this is intentional then there should at least be a "back to menu" button.
  • The music was quite jarring, it sounded it it was in two keys and two rhythms simultaneously (which could lead to good music, but it didn't quite work in this game).

The thermometer is red and the number is a positive number if it's hot and the thermometer is blue and a negative number if it is cold. Once you use all you cards, you can end turn (press c) to let the enemy do their turn and so that you can get some new cards. Though thanks for the ton of feedback!

Pretty art and I like the concept of the game. I think more effects based on temperature would be very interesting (such as lowering temperature to block a strong fire attack). Also, it'd be nice to have more enemies with lower health so we can ease in into the mechanics of the game.

I got used to it and came up with a strategy to win against the enemy, and that was fun, I think this idea has potential after ironing out some kinks.

I think the current music gets in the way of the gameplay after some time. Also, I think it could change based on the current state of the fight: a chilly music when the temp is cold and a faster, more intense one when the temp is hot.

Other than that, good job!

My game somehow softlocked after using all of my cards.

Maybe press C to end turn?

I like the idea of inverting cards but I think the range of cards is too limited and the health of opponents too high to keep the game enjoyable, maybe I just got unlucky but I found it very hard to damage my opponent more than they could heal. With all that criticism though I think with more card types and some minor rebalances this game could be very enjoyable, so I hope you release a post-jam version at some point.

Also if there was an option to turn the music off, that would be nice.

The artstyle is very charming, but the gameplay is a bit strange. I've ended up just passing the turn hoping more damage cards would appear but with the criminal healing itself just made the fight way longer than it should. And with the cards getting randomized makes it really dependend on the rng to deal more damage than its healing. Maybe I am missing something with the gameplay but that is my initial impression.

But otherwise this is a very solid and polished entry, great work!

Developer

It is intended to be really random and sometimes give you just a few damage cards since you can invert cards anyways so you can flip a healing card to become an attacking card. There should be a guide below if you don't know what will happen if you invert the card. Maybe reading the tutorial could help. It should be quite easy to control the RNG but it's RNG so... You know.

Hey, I don't know if I'm missing something but the I can't get past the splash screen. It'd be a shame given the work you put into it. If you get it fixed do let me know, I want to rate it fairly!

Developer

Just press Z. Sorry if I didn't write it down.
