Fun little game! Fits perfectly within the resolution, with readable gameplay and graphics. The clouds on a few levels move quite quick. The sounds helped add a bit of extra feedback to actions. One thing I wish is that you were able to use the jump button to restart levels, switching to the other key always takes an extra half-second.

Developer

Thank you so much. The fact that you are trying to save half a second makes me very happy :)

Good luck with your entry!

I thought this was going to be a clone of vampire survivors turned out to be something quite different. Interesting concept, made for quick restarts. I felt the levels were pretty manageable until the last three rooms, exit to the room with the three lights was a little sneaky, the room with the umbrella took a while to understand how you were supposed to move mechanically, the jumping in the last level felt very difficult to jump at the exact height needed. Also to add, I solved the switch room by chance, didn't realise that the shade could be stopped until it moved in view.  Overall, the game has a novel concept and great potential after a bit of tweaking in some of the levels where it's not as obvious how certain things interact,

Thank you for such a thorough review. And yes, I do agree, the jumping was fiddly at the end. I ran out of time unfortunately, and wanted to make sure the levels were at least completable!

Really appreciate the time you took to look at the game. Good luck with your entry :)

Love this game, Played it a few times

Developer(+1)

Oh man, that makes me happy! Thank you so much!

Really good! This is so nostalgia inducing, probably that pico ingredient ^^ I managed to get every cross, but on the later levels there weren't any to get? Could have been twice as long and I'd have kept going, really good game! :)

What a star. Thank you for the comments.

Yeah, I sort of ran out of time. I focused on making sure the levels were do-able, rather than the coffins (whoops!).

Good luck with your submission :)

Lovely, love the balance difficulty spike, I only got 4923. Nicely done.

nice game, the insta kill is hard but fair and i love the bulb concept congratulations

Nice platformer.

Level changes keep it interesting, and was sad when reached the end. Loved the lights/mini-suns. The umbrella felt like I was cheating, maybe usage could be on a timer.

The ~5 seconds before the first cloud appearing meant i died a few times at first trying to work out what to do, but once I figure it out, it was fun. Good work!

Developer(+1)

REALLY glad you enjoyed it mate. Yeah, I had thought of making the umbrella on a timer. I had also hoped to mix and match some of the mechanics. But boy is 64x64 difficult to work with!

Thanks for the feedback :)

Cool platformer with a nice twist.
Loved the timing mechanic you implemented.
The small replayable scenarios as a kindof
savepoint is also great.
More so since many scenarios were tough to complete

It took me some time to discover Z key was used to restart though.
The default Pico-8 message was no clear to me. "O to restart"

Developer(+1)

Thanks, and well spotted on the "Z" key (sorry about that). I'll update the details once the jam is complete.

Thanks for the playing and good luck with your entry :)

I was really hoping someone would do something with vampires when I saw the themes. Nice job!

Developer

Glad I hit the spot. Good luck with your entry :)

Fun,  hard, and simple game concept. I really enjoyed my playthrough.  It did take me a while to finish some of the levels. Good work!

Developer

Thanks maiza. I am pleased you said it took a while. I played it so often I began to think it was too easy!

Appreciate the feedback :)

Very consistent, I liked it. A bit ruthless but I dig it.

I didn't do particularly well (just 4881), but I had fun! I liked the variety of levels that you had—it didn't feel like I was doing the same thing over and over again, which can be a problem that puzzle games had.

Man, that’s a toasty sun. No rest for the undead here :) I love your idea, and the other takes on jam entries that I see around. It is inspiring. Thanks.

Developer

Haha! He burns pretty quick!

Thank you for the kind words. Really appreciated.

Puzzles and mechanic perfectly fit. Great work! I'm really enjoyed :P

Solid core mechanic, somewhat rough and finicky but enjoyable nonetheless! Like Wes said the colors could use some work.

Developer

Yeah, I look at all the other games and see such great palettes.

PICO-8 only has 16 colours. Damn annoying!

But thank you for the feedback. :)
