Did you work in a team?
Myself and @quillenink, who did sound.

Was the resolution a challenge?
It was! Trying to convey complex puzzle concepts via such a small screen was quite a process.

What did you learn?
I learned how to do pixel perfect properly in Unity. I improved my blender -> pixel art workflow.

This is the first full Myst-like project I've undertaken.

This is one of the most immersive audio-visual submissions for this jam. I just sat around for five minutes staring at that beautiful tree, listening to the wind. Actually, most places in this game were worth chilling out in.

Please keep working on this outside of the jam. It's got a ton of potential.

This game has the coolest atmosphere! I like the reflections and the 3d-2d artstyle! it took a little working out to see where I was able to go and not go, but I really enjoyed it!

I'd say this game is graphically one of the best in the Jam.

The puzzles are amazing and the atmosphere was great. I was felling like inside the game thanks to the sounds...

Very well done. Good job, dude!

The graphics are very well done, including reflection and particle.

Congratulations on the great game.

Fascinating Mystesque clone, the visuals have a soothing touch. Congrats!

I'm really amazed at what a cool visual style you were able to achieve with the graphics restrictions! It was sometimes tricky to figure out where to go, but the game is small enough that trial and error works fine. I would love to see this developed further.

Thanks so much! Yes, clarity was definitely an issue at this resolution, and it's something I was concerned about from the get go. The raw 3d renders were never meant to be used in the final game, but I wasn't able to do draw-overs for everything in time.

Beautiful game, art, and sound!  I'm totally stumped by the puzzles but I love the way they're presented.

Developer

Thanks! That's the trouble with designing a hardcore puzzle game like this for a jam -- I didn't have the ability to do player tests for the puzzles and gauge the real world difficulty. All of the puzzles are technically possible with the information presented, but that doesn't mean that the connections are obvious enough to be useful. I had plans to implement in-world hints, but ran out of time, as usual!

Thanks for playing!

This is outstanding.  I've always wanted to try to do a myst-like in a jam, but I didn't know how it would be possible to execute.  I love the graphical style and interactions.  When I turned the computer on I definitely got major myst vibes.  I hit a snag when I got stuck in a weird corner of the map, but I'll definitely come back later to try to solve the mysteries of Aethos.

Again, fantastic work!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Can you explain a bit more about where you got stuck? I'd like to take some time after the jam ends to bring the game to a finish. Thanks for playing!
