I like the idea of being a ghost and possessing the enemy !
The cutscenes are great, it had some depth to the story.
Graphics & Audio suit the game nicely, I like the style of the enemies.
I didn't try all the ends, but I read them in the game page and they are pretty cool (Will try the sacrife one if I manage to do it) =D

Game crashes when trying to possess someone.

Developer

On the FIXED version? Hmm strange you are the first one to report that. Thanks.

Very cool and interesting - played out differently than expected and has a few new ideas - very well done! Format really suited the 64x64 res too.

Developer

Thank you! I wish I had enough time to use my ghost gameplay more.

Nice enty, so much content!  You used your time well.  I was surprised when Elric died so easily and thought it was a joke game, until the game continued as a ghost.  I tried to play more, but the gameplay was somewhat confusing to me.  (I'm not very good at playing games, so don't be too discouraged by that.)  I liked the pixel graphics and controller use.  "gHost" seems like a very well made game.  Cheers!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

This took a left turn for sure. My brain went through this: "oh it's gonna be a story-based mini JRPG alright!" then *mild disappointment* "oh it's a wave-based brawler" then "what the hell I died and am now talking to a spear?!

I like the characters, pixel art, and story bits. I wasn't able to get too far, went up to the evil boss and I think tried to possess him but the game ended because I didn't know his name. When it restarted the ghost was already there in the scene where the knight warns the king. So it's a tad janky, but I really enjoyed it and think you could span a bigger game out of this!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! If you possessed the boss then you had one of the endings (it's very short, yes), if you launched the game again from the menu after that, yeah I didn't even try and it's probably bugged.

At the beginning I thought it was just a typical hack n' slash.  Then it takes a crazy twist and you become a ghost!  Really cool idea, I had fun with it.  Nice job

Developer

Thanks mate, too bad the ghost part is so short though, it's like 80 % of the game is the introduction ha ha.

One of the best games I've played this year, well done. I'm not sure whether I won or not tho. In the end the bad guy has a spear on him, like katunga killed him? Anyway great entry, I'm rating everything 5. Well done again.

PS: If you have the time take a look at my entry https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2018/rate/293637 nothing special compared to yours.

Cheers

Wow, thanks, I didn't expect a so nice comment. There are 4 endings, depending on: a) whether you discovered the name of the bad guy or not, and b) whether you took the spear (touched it while possessing an enemy) or you stayed as a ghost and possessed the bad guy. So if your ending only shows the bad guy killed by the spear, that means you didn't discover its name and possessed it instead of taking the spear: you said your own name after possessing him, forcing Katunga to kill you both. This ending is the one called "Sacrifice". I'll add a "Tips" section on the game page to explain the endings.

I'll play your game right now. for sure

I see, now I understand what "Sacrifice" stands for. I'll have to play it again after I try some other entries, so I can get the other endings.
