This was pretty cool. It reminds me of the home before dark Webkinz game lol. It was a little confusing at the very beginning because I wasn't expecting the vehicles to be able to move onto roads that weren't facing them, but after a second I was able to get the hang of it!

This is right up my alley, good job :)

Only thing I didn't understand was when two vehicles started with different timers on different tiles and eventually ended up on a single grass tile. Then one moved forward and the other went along with it at the same time so there was no way to separate them any more... Is that intentional?

Hey thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed!

Yes it can be a little annoying when the vehicles sync up like that.
If you are rotating a tile that a vehicle is planning to drive onto, the vehicle’s 3 second timer will reset. Also, if you rotate a tile that a vehicle is on, it will pause its timer until the tile stops rotating. So I believe these are the main cause of them syncing.

I think I would’ve liked to remove the ability of vehicles entering the same tile. Either by crashing or just waiting and causing traffic or something.

Crashing would be interesting, but would very much change the nature of the game. Not to say that's a bad thing, could be fun and add tension as it would be another possibility to lose the motors.

Causing traffic seems like the obvious 'solution', i.e. not letting motors drive onto occupied tiles. This would increasingly lead to situations where you'd have more than 1 motor trying to enter the same tile and being on stand-by, as their timers ran out. When the tile would be vacated by the previous motor, you'd then have 2 or more motors trying to enter it at the same time.

Maybe prioritize them according to who's been waiting the longest? Randomize? Maybe go back to the crashing option? :D

Am I the only one for whom the game doesn't work? All I see is a pink screen with score on the top left. If I press esc I see two buttons: next level and restart. I'm on Windows if that helps...

Developer

oh that is strange, I haven’t heard that from anyone yet.. I play on Windows also. Is that in browser? Or does it happen with the downloaded executable?

Sorry about that!

I think I installed it from itch app. And when it didn't work for the first time I opened the folder and launched from the exe. I can try it again in the evening once I get home and let you know what I did exactly :)

This is really clever game! Almost strategy. I like tile animations a lot. But it is hard to know where each car will go...

Developer(+1)

thanks a lot! Really glad you enjoyed it!

You know, I wasn’t going to take part in the jam but the rotating tiles was the first thing I did and I was so happy with it I just had to keep going! Haha

Yes it’s a little hard to tell. When a vehicle drives onto a tile, if the tile has a road on it, the car will turn to face the closest road end (if it’s not already facing in a direction of the road!)

Great concept, and fun gameplay.

thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Oh no! Oh no! Really stressful! :-x But I love it! <3 <3 <3

Developer

haha! Yeah it is pretty stressful! Glad you enjoyed it!

Brilliantly executed.

Developer

thanks so much! Really appreciate it!

Love the concept, but i think 3 cars is to much to nadle at the same time, nice job!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah it’s pretty tricky alright. I knew it was difficult but I made all levels available to play. I think with a full game where you are required to unlock levels I would make it a little easier :)

Really cool But kinda confusing at first Got wrong direction many times But loved to play.. Good job, mate

Developer

thanks so much! Yeah the roads seem to be confusing alright. The vehicle is deciding which way to face based on the closest direction of the road when it first drives onto a tile (assume there is a road on that tile) thanks again :)

So hard but so fun! Level 3 kicked my butt lol. I tried to set up an endless loop for a couple of the vehicles so I could focus on others but it never worked out. I love the little animation and sound that happens when you rotate a tile, it feels clean. Thanks for sharing!

Developer

haha thanks a lot I’m glad you enjoyed it! Level 3 is very tricky :P I believe level 5 was designed specifically for creating those loops. It was more of an experiment for me to see if that could be a cool approach! But I think you get a build up of vehicles too quickly in that level. But the idea is there and I’m glad you had that idea too! :D

The rotation animation was what convinced me to keep going with the jam! Haha
