Really very cool and the controls were well published. Custom music and SFX would have been amazing for this game.

Hey, Rocket here, the character artist and animator for the game. Actually, we planned on having SFX, I found some nice stuff, but we didn't have enough time to implement these before the deadline. But that's something we're considering for an update. As for the music, yeah, we didn't have time to find a composer to make us a custom soundtrack, hence why I grabbed stuff from the Free Music Archive. But maybe in a future update? Not sure yet, but that could be fun

Amazing concept, at first I thought this was just another take on the good old floor inversion mechanic, but combining it with level-modifying grenades has turned it into a new game completely!

The implementation is also very solid, feels like a complete game. Nice style and character animation. Special points for the playable menu :D

Great submission!

Oh, thanks for the kind words about animation, I'm actually pretty much a rookie in this field. I'm more of a 3d character artist myself (hence why the character is actually made in 3d but rendered as sprites, which took some time to figure out), but it's been a long time I hadn't touched anything animation-wise, so that was a learning curve to take again. And yeah, I thought some rubber hose animation would add some more personality and playfulness, that turned out even better than I anticipated

The concept really fit the theme very well! Very fun!

This is a really impressive concept and execution!

very polished, well-executed idea. one of the most complete games i've played this far. the minimalist art style worked well for this type of game. the controls were not quite tight enough for some of the later levels to feel smooth to play through, but that's a pretty minor thing. excellent jam entry, nice work. congrats!

Developer(+2)

thanks for your comments and suggestions. We already polished up the player controls in a newer version, will update after the jam has ended if you want to try again with better controls

I almost forgot to play this and it's good that I haven't.

I love the main menu, the approach the tutorials, the tone and the unsolicited leftist propaganda ^^

A VERY VERY solid entry. Congrats.

Developer

I am glad you enjoyed it Comrade, we enjoyed making it! If you finish the game there are some secret levels with some additional poetry ;)

Good Gameplay. Loved it.

Developer

thank you :)

Reminds me of an old "N game", but the addition of 2 worlds and the constantly changing levels make for a surprisingly in depth mechanics - I was always pushed to keep going, because there soon might not be any platforms to jump off left :o

Developer(+1)

Wonderful to hear, thanks a lot for your comments. It definitely reminded us of N as well while developing :)

Developer(+1)

It didn't start off as trying to emulate N, but once the style started to solidify, the comparison became a bit more apparent. N is a fabulous game, and as someone who probably put a few thousand hours into it on old flash sites, I'm deeply honoured that anything I was involved in making is mentioned in the same breath and that we were able to connect with people who loved it; while also offering something that is also very different to actually play

That's only when we realized the game was very n-ish that we decided to embrace the influence and I stepped in with that custom character animation I did in Blender (cause yeah, it's 3d rendered as sprites, actually). But I wanted to divert a little from it, so I went for a modified skinning of the character so that I had some kind of rubber hose animation going on, and it turned out pretty cool

Its a VVVVV idea evolution! Very nice one!

Developer

thanks a lot :D

Looks like the stats at the end aren't implemented? Anyway, there are some very clever mechanics at play here. I wish the player's movement had felt a bit more polished, but things got a lot easier when I realised I could combine jumping with dashing.

Developer

thanks for playing our game! And thank you for the feedback :) the stats are working on some computers and not on others, we're still investigating how and why :)

Developer

Did you unzip before playing? Executing from within the .zip may not have full OS access, so may have trouble creating/writing to the stats file we create in %appdata% - When voting is over and we can implement other fixes, I will upload a file to create the stats file with the game complete so anyone still unable to complete the game (according to stats) can access the secret levels ;)

Wowza~! The gameplay of this is super polished. Don't want to spoil any solutions for any of the levels, but the variety of things you can do with void shifting and grenades is insane. Going through each level created the most satisfying light-bulb moments I had ever experienced from a jam game. Incredible work!

Y'all have an amazing loop, and it would be awesome to see what you can do with it if you choose to continue this project.

Good stuff and congrats on the first GWJ!
