Well polished game with really nice aesthetics. I am really bad at these games, so I would have appreciated some kind of checkpoint system for being able to finish it, but it was still fun nonetheless. Nice job!

This is a nice and clean relaxing gamejam game! I personally wasn't worried about the spike movement being telegraphed like some other players were? Not sure where that came from. Since you could just observe them at the start to see what their pattern was.

Everything works really well, my only *minor* complaint might be to let the WASD input be buffered just a little bit, so its a bit easier to time, or even let the button be held down.

Also for the theme, this is the first one I played where randomness does not play a part but it still matches the theme. Well done!

Congrats on finishing your game for the jam!

Your concept is simple and straightforward - perfect for a game jam. And it looks like you were able to execute on it well! Controls work nicely, and your presentation, both art and sfx, are fitting. The pip-text is a bit difficult to read at times, but there's not too much of it.

The biggest deviation from the grid-based movement puzzles I see are the moving spikes, adding a bit of real time to the game. With grid based games, especially puzzles that encourage you to take your time to think, I try to avoid real time elements as that directly contradicts the time to think you're supposed to have. It's not bad here, but the designs oppose each other, making it a bit more challenging for you to design. Like Mark mentioned on his stream, it might have been useful to telegraph the moving spike paths in some way - such as scratch marks on the ground, or even different colored tiles.

Having to restart on a failed puzzle is a real downer. I made it pretty far on my first go through but didn't want to redo everything after one death. For your next jam, work on making player failure a less punishing experience, whether that be checkpoints in an action or platformer, shorter levels for puzzlers, or something else.

Good job completing your jam. Keep learning, keep improving, and keep making games!

Interesting puzzle game concept, nice art and audio. Maybe I'm just getting old but I found it tough to even beat the first level as I couldn't get the timing right. Maybe make the first one easier so that people (like me) can get the hang of it quicker.

Good puzzle game!

What I liked?

- The Dice movement and animation are satisfying

- The music and SFX are great

Other comments:

- It is too bad that it doesn't have a sort of "save system", because it was frustrating to restart from the beginning when losing

Overall nice work!

Nice game, congrats ! The art and music fit well and it is polish. Maybe just the hit box is a little bit to big but it is all.

Really nice puzzle game, very well polished though it seems the spike hit boxes are a bit big I died a lot for not apparently even touching the spikes.

But any ways very entertaining game with great visual style and music/sfx design is spot on.

I remember your game from Mark's stream, good job! The graphics and animations look nice, it has a bit of an abrupt learning curve but that can always be improved. One thing that I would have liked is if dying restarted the current level rather than sending you back to the first one, and if the portals were color matched so you know where the portal will take you!

Presentation and theme is excellent ! A very neat little game, very impressive ! My only remark, aside from the aforementionned checkpoint system, would be that I don't really understand the health pool ? Does it matter ?

Submitted

I like the style! Very impressive. Pretty difficult game. You need quick reflexes!

Some feedback: maybe you can give the player more lives, so that you don't go back to the beginning if you get hit by spikes.

Developer

Thank you for feedback! On the 6th map you have 9 lives.

Great game! Watched your game on stream, and I wanted to try it for myself :) The only thing is that maybe add a checkpoint for every level? Restarting everything is a bit annoying. Overall, a great amount of polish for a game jam game (especially for a 13-year-old if you were not lying on stream). btw, can you check out my game too? Keep up the good work mate :)

Here is my honest critique. Game concept and idea if simple charming and easy to pickup.  The style is very neat and orderly , everything feeling like part of the same game. Lack of checkpoint system makes the game replicability go down ironically.  Every time the player dies they have to replay everything all over again, which ironically makes them less likely to replay and keep moving forward. I think a checkpoint system would really help this aspect. I think there needs to be less response time between inputs and movement. Geometric shapes in art forms of shape theory stimulate expectations of rigidness and quick or snappy motions. I think by making the dice squish after getting in place, or increasing movement speed it will help combat the contradiction happening in the shape theory. Overall good game. You should be proud and keep up the great work.
