As a physicist I really loved this game :D I think it was very clever to make a game out of putting objects in orbit around each other. And you executed it really well too! Putting the chaotic three body problem as a final level is just really evil of you XD I did get some really pretty patterns out of it though :D

Developer

What a coincidence! It's really cool to have an expert in the field play my physics game, and even more so that you enjoyed it! I couldn't resist adding that last three body system xD.

A simulation game that doesn't require too much from the player to get started. Great concept!

Thanks! I’m glad you like it.

Bro you really put the boss of trajectories "Three Body Problem", the hardest problem in physics and it has multiple solutions. I literally spent hours trying to get the trajectory right but it always end with an gravitational collapse, i then even asked chatGPT to given me solution for three body problem with initial position of masses with 0 velocity but it said there is no specific solution with these conditions. Such an amazing game you made. I wish i could solve the three body problem. You are the dev so do you know the solution for that?, if yes then please tell me. This game is straight 10/10.

The last level is quite the challenge indeed. I myself, have gotten a stability around 0.9, and I definitely believe it's possible with further tweaking, though I haven't gotten to that yet... You can find a tiny preview of an attempt sent to me, with the setup it's built upon, in the game page description. It's definitely very finicky. However, the initial velocities aren't actually 0, they're, respectively: (1.0; 0.0), (-0.7, +0.7), (+0.7, -0.7). I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the game!

Well done on your game! I really - and I mean it - really like the concept, its super creative. Its ashame there are quite a few bugs in the game. I started with a familiar place, then played the level with three celestial bodies, and then the speck, which didnt seem like the intended order. My level progression also seemed to disappear when exiting menus - I am not sure. I had the same as the comment below me, I didnt see I could move more than one celestial body until later (though I am still not sure what determines when you can and cannot drag one.

Nonetheless I got the gist of the game, and it was actually quite fun. Artstyle is great and SFX do the job. I would've maybe liked more feedback on some actions, like a level complete celebration, swishy sound effect when dragging planets (I know it doesnt make sense) etc. Realistically though, how much can you ask for in a jam, you already did super well.

I write too many emails, so I am always inclined to end these comments, as I do for emails. Normally I resist the urge, but for some reason this comments feels worthy of a proper ending.

Kind regards,

Casper

Hey thanks for the feedback! I got a suspicion of what might be going wrong with the improper level progression, and after trying it out, it seems that you can select invisible planets in the main menu, effectively skipping otherwise required levels to reach that one. So that's an unfortunate bug - sorry about that one! I believe the same thing is going on with your progression not being stored... More feedback and polish is definitely needed too, for sure. I'm happy to hear you liked the game nonetheless!

I suppose I'm obligated to respond with an email of my own now xD.

Kind regards,

Octox

Very creative!

I liked the loop stabilization concept, but I got frustrated with the 3 celestial bodies, I couldn't figure out where to place them... *5 minute check* Well, now I checked the game again and realized that, as it turns out, you can move more than just one celestial body in the game ._.

Because I was sure that I could only move one, because in the first two levels I only controlled one planet. I think it would be worth adding levels with balancing of 2 controlled planets, before those difficult ones with three planets, so that the player is forced to touch both planets.

I barely noticed that the small planets, as it turned out, had an outline.

Or somehow else, but still inform the player of the necessary input data to complete the level.

Otherwise, very nice design and a great idea!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I totally get where you're coming from, and you're not the first to miss that more planets could be moved - that's a mistake on my part. Like you said, I probably should have done an introductory level where you have to move two independent planets, before the one with the fixed positioning. And some of the planets got a bit too small. I'm glad to hear that you liked the idea and design, despite the confusion.

Liked the concept and the art style. Very nice game. Great job!

Thanks!

super cool. love the artwork and this is probably the best game i played in the jam. well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Such a pleasure and honor to hear that it's one of your favorites!

Submitted(+1)

this is really challenge and pixel art style did well.

If possible, can you please rate my game and leave a comment too?

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and kind words! I'll make sure to add your game to my list.

This game was so mesmerising, and I enjoyed watching my solution slowly approach stability.  It would have been really nice if the explosion debris interacted with the orbit physics as well and stayed on screen,  it would have added to the chaos of a loop going wrong! Really nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your kind words! The debris being part of the simulation would definitely be a nice touch; one that I unfortunately overlooked.

Submitted(+1)

honestly despite the difficulty this game is still pretty fun, i especially like the artstyle of the planets

Developer

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks!

Ok, this goes in my top 3 favourites for sure. Perfect use of the theme, well executed, straight to the point. Some levels present a very good challenge (I was SURE you’ll put a 3 body problem in there hahaha). Almost nothing to complain about, except maybe the very slow fade transitions and the fact that you have to manually click the menu button to continue when you finish a level. But it’s really just nitpicking. Good job on this one!

Developer

I am honored to be in your top  3, and  thank you so much for your kind words <3.  Good nitpicking too; those are things I'd definitely change were I to return to the project.

Cool concept and vibe! I agree with other comments that it is a bit difficult. I'd recommend introducing difficult concepts more slowly.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and kind words! The difficulty ramping is definitely to be refined, I totally agree with you and others on that point. As the level designer, you always think the level is easier than how it eventually is received by the audience - accounting for that is something I need to work some more on, for sure.

Submitted(+1)

Wow really impressed by this concept. So simple in theory, but really tricky in practice. The planets were all beautifully rendered in this really unique puzzler

Developer

Glad to hear you like it! Physics can lead to chaoticness quite easily, evidently, so much so that when I was doing level design I found a lot of my ideas to be outright impossible xD. As for the planets, they are very beautiful indeed. I have to give credit to where credit is due: Pixel Planet Generator by Deep-Fold is an awesome tool, and with the planets in this game I barely grazed the surface of the tools capabilities.

Submitted(+1)

Insanely good concept ! The only thing I have to say is that I find it very hard real quick (Maybe just a skill issue lol) and I have no idea what is happening when a planet goes out of the screen. Really cool puzzle game !

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear you like the game and thanks for the feedback! I unfortunately didn't have a lot of time to make contet, so the result is that the difficulty ramping isn't rather smooth. Also, I should've probably added a zoom-out for when planets go off screen as to give some sort of clue as to what is going on.

haha love the three-body problem level. orbit sound is satisfying and vaguely reminds me of a marble rolling around a track. cool concept!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!  Love to hear that the otbit sound works nicely - it definitely makes for a big part of the game feel.

Submitted(+1)

This is a very neat concept and I loved playing it, the pixelated reference lines were a wonder to look at. The level design is very good though I would say the last level is pretty hard, still haven't beaten that one yet. I do have one suggestion is that you include in game pointers incase you get lost, I was slightly confused at the beginning. But overall very very good game. (i should've added the game pointers to my game as well :((()

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree on the lack of guiding direction in playing the game; this was something I unfortunately missed in the development process. And the last level is very hard indeed :)

Submitted(+1)

One of our brainstorming ideas was very similar to this hehe.

Well made and enjoyable, I had fun. Minor nitpicks: I do wish the simulation phase was a bit faster. It took me a while to figure out that I need to click the hamburger menu button to go back after finishing a level. It also took me a while to realize that I can move all non-asteroid bodies and not just the main planet.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! There is definitely a lack of guidance when it comes to navigating and playing the game, and these are definitely important aspects that I would have considered more carefully had I more time.

Interesting to hear that you were brainstorming something similar. I’ll have to look at the game you landed on!

Really nicely done, well executed :) (if someone beats the last level, I'd be blown away)

Developer (1 edit)

The infamous Three Body Problem. If someone beats it, I'd want to know how they managed to break my game xD. Thanks for your kind words!
