Really liked the art and the concept! The idea to make a light zone with the cat to attack the enemies is nice, but I didn't directly understand that at first! Making a zone of light was a bit tricky sometimes, too. Overall, it was fun and I really loved the intro! Great job!

Hii, thank you for playing our game! We appreciate the feedback. ^^

I like the concept! The idea of guiding the cat to create light for the wizard is super creative and feels unique. The atmosphere and animations are great, too. At times it felt a bit overwhelming to control everything at once, but overall it was a fun and memorable experience. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!! It means a lot ^^

Not sure if this was the intent, but what I got out of the game was that the wizard was blind and you were playing as a guide animal, which I find to be a really awesome concept for a game. Whether or not that was intentional, the fact that I could extrapolate that from what was presented to me is something I find really impactful

Developer

Yesss, we had in mind something similar!

The wizard wore glasses in the beginning and once it got into the portal, the glasses broke, so he was kinda blind>>

The thing is, I forgot to draw the glasses and I had already finished some animations by then without them..

Thank you for playing! ^^

Mostly agree with the comment by woeishuen! I do feel like the idea is very good, the whole concept is very fun, and sometimes it works pretty well.

Perhaps there’s a bit too much mixing of different ideas here as well (Controlling the wizard, controlling the cat and creating light areas where the wizard can shoot while avoiding hazards in the dark) and my brain can’t properly do anything haha

Also don’t want to sound too harsh, because I genuinely liked the game, art and sounds :)

Developer(+1)

Heyy, thanks for your feedback, and thank you for playing! Don't worry, it's not harsh, it's exactly what we needed to improve, but the time was limited.

We also had to think of how to do the controls without making it too complicated or overwhelming. Maybe a better tutorial so you can get used to the controls would've been great, but time was ticking :((

the starting animations are sooo good!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed our game!

I tried to make the animations funny and silly with what assets I had at the moment! ^^

The idea is very creative, but I think the execution is a little lacking. I find the lack of feedback and game feel to be a big issue. It isn't clear when I can attack, and when I attack, my attacks feel underwhelming. Add some effects, some sound to enemy hit/death, make it feel like the player is doing something correct.

Also would be nice to have a clear goal in a jam game (e.g. find 4 pillars). I wondered about, met 4 different enemies, and then I got disinterested.

Try not to include elements that are "nice to have", but ultimately don't matter to the core of your jam game. Inventory items are nice to have, but your time and energy would've been better spent doing something else.

Sorry if I sound too harsh, but I think the concept you guys came up with is brilliant, and I hope that some of my feedback here can help you make better jam games in the future :)

Developer(+1)

Hii, thank you for taking your time to give us some feedback! Don't worry constructive criticism is welcomed! ^^

Yeah we agree that the wizard attacks should ve been more fledged out.

We also wanted to make something unique so that's why we had lots of ideas coming to us of how to make it better ("nice to have" things).

The overall idea is that we did too much, we should ve focused more on the main mechanic!

Thank you ^^

The art was really good, nice job! The controls were cool but I felt like my wizard was just shaking my cat around on a walking stick haha. Its a fun concept and having a full wizard and cat adventure sounds like it would be a blast. Well done.

Developer

Thank you for playing and thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

Your interpretation of the wizard shaking the cat is so funny^^ Never thought of that!

Submitted(+1)

Really nice idea for the game. I was shockingly worried when that floaty thing grabbed the cat for the first time XD

The only thing missing for me would be a more little instruction/guidance in the beginning, as I initially wasn't to sure what I was doing.

The pixel animation is very expressive too, so good job!

Developer

Hii, thank you for playing our game!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! We know that we didn't do much of an introduction, the 'tutorial' was done in the last couple of minutes.

Yes, we called the floaty thing "Thief", I wanted to make him scary but also funny at the same time. I had the same reaction when I got to test the game! I'm glad you had fun with it! ^^

Thank you for the feedback.

I agree with what @SaturnTortilla said. I loved the idea of wizard walking a cat. At first I did not even notice that Wizard is shooting something when I loop, some better visual feedback would help.

Developer

Yeah, we totally agree with you!

Some visual queues would've done better.

Great idea with a cat and a leash. Playing 2 characters is always challenging, but it's always awesome when executed correctly. The way wizard and cat are controlled is great; however, it's too dark. It was impossible to explore properly or to fight properly since. I couldn't see the slime because the wizard was running away, and the cat was trying to loop them in. I am thinking either a bigger light from our heroes or a small light from monsters would help with that. One more thing at first I thought that I wasn't killing the slimes only later I noticed the ball that flies from a wizard, this needs to be more impact full, your are a wizard blasting away mosters it needs to have some BOOM in it, or the loop could create magic circle (sigils), within the loop. Overall, I like the visuals, and I see that it has great potential.

Developer

Thank you for playing and helping us with feedback! ^^

About the controls, we had our doubts of how to not make it too complicated, so that's why we decided to make the player auto attack.

We also didnt have much time to tweak the gameplay and make it feel more welcoming, but now we know what we were missing! ^^

Submitted

Creative idea but its not that fun unfortunately.

One of the better exploration-based ideas I've played from this jam, though I think it falls into the common pitfall of being a little bit too big for itself. There's a lot of really good ideas here that just need some tweaking. I did really care for my cat buddy in the beginning, but I quickly learned that he was much more durable than me so I sent him into danger without much sentimentality. The current inconsequential nature of death was a good move as opposed to making it frustrating. The light probably needs to be expanded a little bit to make following the red line a little more certain. The core design here is solid.

Developer(+1)

Firstly, thank you for playing our game and taking your time to give us your opinion on it!

Yeah we totally aimed a little high, we worked on it until the last minute, but we pulled through!

We know the problem with the light, we went through many iterations, and kept this one because it was the most consistent and our time was running out.

This was very unique! I loved the mechanics of the game heaps! One thing I noticed is when my health was completly gone, I could still play the game and interact with things which I thiiink was a little bug? I loved everything else! The artstyle is really cute, well done for making such a nice looking game in such a short timespan! <3

Developer

Thanks for playing! We actually forgot to make the lose screen and ran out of time

Submitted(+3)

i wish i had more time to play this! the artwork, gameplay and narrative premise is solid - i hope you keep working on this.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game ^^

I'm glad you enjoyed it, we too loved how this silly idea came to life!

Submitted(+2)

The pixel art is very cute, just needs some music to match!

I read the controls before playing, but it was still pretty hard to figure out what was going on or what to do once I was actually in game

The in-game text mentions moving the mouse and picking up the cat, but doesn't really explain what that does or why you'd want to do it

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing :D

Yea, the in-game text was added last minute and isnt that self explanatory.

Submitted(+2)

I like the concept of the game. It's fun to play :)

Developer

Thanks a lot :DD

Submitted(+2)

Very unique concept and great art! The mechanic is cool, it just took me a while to learn it - I played without reading the description, but I was so attached to the cat that I didn’t want to stop playing to read the instructions haha. I want to be a wizard walking my cat in the forest

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. The "tutorial" was made last minute and it's kinda ambigue, sry for that. Also we are glad you liked the cat :D

(+2)

i love the art style and the theme! i can't believe you made this in under a month from how polished it looks!

Developer

Thanks for playing our game, we worked very much for it :D

Submitted(+2)

Super cool idea. I really  enjoyed the cat/leash mechanic, an interesting way to navigate the dark. Great work!

Developer

Thank you!

This game was awesome! The artstyle was great, and I loved the music :D

I really enjoyed the gameplay, it reminded me a bit of that one boo minigame on the DS. Very creative way of interpreting loop!

Great job guys, I'd love to see more!

Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it!
