How does your game fit the theme?
This game is about claiming more territory than your opponent. Your truck creates a trail of fire behind it, and creating a loop with your fire trail claims all territory inside the loop. Drive into your opponents loop to disrupt them or loop around their territory to take it back!

Please tell me you will continue to work on this game. It triggers my nostalgia because I used to play the Tron: Legacy Wii game, and it's very similar to that. It's like Tron and Splatoon had a baby. I love it, and it's great. The solo version is lacking (I'm pretty sure that's the dumbest AI in gaming history 😂), but it's a jam so kudos for even attempting! It's interesting because the AI seemed smarter on the hazards map. I played multiplayer with my brother and had a blast! With a bit more fine-tuning I think this could be a great couch-multiplayer game.

Other comments:

  • The dynamic menu music is really neat, but it seems got out of sync
  • I really like that you included concept art. That's a nice touch.
  • Audio didn't seem to work with multiple controllers connected (though it may be my computer changing audio devices.)

Thank you for the specific feedback, I'm really glad you got to enjoy local multiplayer!  That's what we designed for and it's awesome to hear you and your brother had fun.  After getting so many comments about the AI we did some investigation and we're pretty sure it's a packaged only error unfortunately.  We tested the AI a lot in editor and it could handle bumping into walls and recovering right away and it's actually really good at denying your trails.  However in the packaged build it gets stuck a lot more.   The packaged build we tested more with real multiplayer and didn't catch the difference in AI quality until feedback started coming in.  We're looking into how to fix it!  I'll look into these audio bugs as well thank you for reporting them.

Great AI you got, really impressive even more for a 4 day jam. very solid work!

this game is really awesome, one of the best jam submissions I’ve seen so far.

Super fun! This was a rad and really well put together :)

Just like paper.io! Love it :D

Really Nice paper.io (RIP) like game. Pretty amazing you got multiplayer working and bots on such a short game jam. Kudos to you all. I am also a little jealous of your amazing fire trails. I really wanted to include them as well.

Wow what a cool concept! Saw someone describe it as Tron meets Splatoon, which is the perfect way to put it. The controls felt nice, the style looked good, and the fact that you coded in a CPU during a 4 day jam is impressive. I had fun with this one - awesome job! :)

Really nice game, pretty fun to play and it's easy to control and navigate around the map. I smoked the cpu :D
Great Job!

Tron X Splatoon is a great combination I never thought I'd see. The racing visuals for the menus and closeups when you finish were really cool. Amazing job coding a CPU in just a small timeframe too. They weren't much of a challenge to beat but I could see they had actual strategy going on which is impressive. The controls were pretty good too and felt responsive which is important when trying to make exact strategical turns. Great job!

This is a really cool twist on Tron Lightbike style games. I like that instead of taking damage by hitting the enemy flame you instead snuff it out making things harder for them. The AI spent a lot of time running into walls, but that's okay. I was just looping like a mad man in the corner.

Developer

Those Tron Lightbike games were a big source of inspiration for us. Thanks for playing!

Reminds me of some older fun browser games I played in school!

Good idea! I remember playing a game like this as a kid, where you had to quickly cut off a piece and the main thing was to close the line before the saw could cut through it. But your idea is even cooler. Awesome job!

Developer

That game sounds fun! Do you remember what it was called?

Would be a great party game, well made! Like redneck TRON!

Developer(+1)

LOL, Redneck Tron, we got a kick out of that in our server. Thanks for playin brother!

This game is so fucking cool!!!! You all did such a great job with this, I could see this being a really fun game to play with a group of friends on steam, 2v2s or even free for alls. Great job with this one. -Kaylee

Yes, I think 4 player would be awesome. Thanks for playing!

Fun idea! Once I figured out the controls, I started going for bigger and riskier loops just for the thrill.

Reminds me an old Tron game y played on a browser in school 20 years ago.

Liked the spin (pun intended) on splatoon and similar games!

Once I got the hang of it, the controls felt really nice and I tried to get the biggest closed loops possible.

The "cpu" doesn't got to do anything interesting unfortunately, so there was no real challenge.

The first time the camera only focused on the cpu and got stuck in a wall. There was no way to get out of there except for closing the game or waiting the 80 seconds.

Developer

Yeah, it is too easy to accidentally start a match without a player right now. We wanted to make it impossible, but it was causing some last minute UI bugs. Thanks for Playing!

Great concept, this was a lotta fun to play. I'm curious about the decision to limit the tail lengths, I feel like I wanted to risk it all for some massive loops

Developer

We might have to try that out! The tail length wasn't something we experimented with too much during the jam. Thanks for playing!

The AI always hit walls and got stuck... So I won easily. The game surpports local 1v1 multiplayer, but I don't have a friend nearby ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ

I like the music and artstyle!

Developer(+1)

Ideally the game would support peer to peer multiplayer, while testing we used Parsec to play with each other. Thanks for playing!

I like the idea, but the AI is very..simple so it doesnt make the game that interesting when the cpu car is stuck in corner

Developer(+1)

Unfortunately the AI has a bug in this version of the game. When testing in editor the AI was able to turn around when it hit walls, but something broke when we packaged the game for release. :(
Thanks for checking out the game!
