Really creative idea! I can definitely see this working with lots of different puzzles. Super cool—hope to see a bigger version of it someday. Congrats!

It's pretty cool, I love the presentation, I think the puzzles are a bit simple wish you had more time to flesh them out. I would suggest have the snake fill the entire tile instead of being a small part of it. Overall pretty good.

Simple but effective puzzle game. I like your mythological theming and atmosphere!

Cool game. Love the Egyptian style.

Nice ouroboros game!

I like the style, especially because you went with trying to incorporate many different mythologies instead of just one like ours (and we didn’t even get around to playing with the theme much)

It’s a little too easy to run into a wall because you didn’t change direction at the right time.
And the puzzles are very basic, but it’s a start (not that ours are super complex lol).

Nicely done :)

I like seeing how small design choices leads to these different experiences and think this ouroboros sub-theme interpretation is a good showing of how detailed game design can get and impact player experience.

For your game, I liked how it seemed like the snake was coming from a pipe /tunnel. It was unclear why the player would want to get the other runes as if I wanted to clear the level I just needed the green ones although I admit I only played a few levels.

Just a hint the snake in this game moves in block increments, so you can choose to stop at a certain point and it should stop. I think I wanted to add a "skill" element to the game but I see this game could have been fun without it.

the point of the different runes / peg version is to acts as obstacles basically

You only need to encircle the green ones and greys are optional, but finding the right path for your body length is a little tricky sometimes

Red ones must be outside of the circle which mean clever positioning of you body

Later we also introduce spiky pegs that kill you and peg that you can push around

But I admit our current level design Is very bare bones

Thanks for trying it though

Interesting take on the theme!! Making a loop in a level itself as a puzzle is really cool, and the levels that are there are just scratching at the very top of what is possible with this concept. I really hope that you expand on this idea post jam, as there is lots of potential! For what's there though, the music and sound are nice, and the ouroboros theme is really cool, well done!

Short and sweet, reminds me of puzzles from The Witness

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play. I thought your game was a very interesting take on the "flappy bird" mechanic and adding rogue-like elements was great for the progression of the game. It was just difficult to control.

And checkout the The Witness, it seemed like a nice game, added it to my wishlist.

I like the idea. I would have loved to get more levels.

Also, I think the fact that we lose when touching a wall is unnecessary in this game. This is frustrating and adds "skill" to the puzzle while just trying to solve it is fun enough.

The more games I play from this jam, I'm just amazed at the creativity. Your game felt like crafting the perfect loop to get to the goal alot like when coding.

And, I did't really think about it from this perspective, as what I see for this game is after some initial levels, players can customise there own levels and submit it and challenge player to get a good score based on few "deaths" and "time taken". I think this can be a nice play mode as well to create a more narrative driven puzzle mode.

Hello there fellow Ouroboros developer, I really enjoyed your take on the sub-theme

Developer

Why hello to you to, I really like your version also, I found it interesting how slight change to anchoring the tail to a position and having set limit can change the game so much. Really creative!

Really cool concept! I've seen a lot of snake games this Jam but none of them have been puzzle games. This reminds me of Thin Ice from Club Penguing if anyone happens to know what that is. Completed all available levels and enjoyed my time with the game!

Nice Job! :)

Thanks for commenting and really loved you game. I really like how you introduced the game, it felt like I was being show the ways of spell-casting.

Interesting level design. I enjoy puzzle games so this resonates with. It's a shame there's only a few levels. Great game!

I really liked your game it was so good. I liked the fact you could eventually get it but there might be a quicker way so you can try again to see if you can find it

Cute idea, not all levels were playable but I've completed the ones I could do :)

I really like your game, the switching the button on and off was very creative
