How does your game fit the theme?
We implemented it in a core loop of our game, helping a small sapling to grow into a big (and deadly) tree. As our carnivorous plant devours more and more people, it grows and its hunting ground scales, making the difficulcy scale as well.

Oh wow! This is fantastic. You should win game of the year. Lovely art style and the music really kept the pace going. I enjoyed grabbing guys and hearing their satisfying yells. Well done!

Developer

THANK YOU for you kind words <3 that means the WORLD to us

The Art Style is very beautiful but the game gets repetitive very quickly

Developer

thank you! <3 we will work on adding many features after the jam ;D had to cut most of them to fit into the timeframe

Submitted(+1)

I liked how the Jam Theme is applied in both the player and de current context of the game.

Nice game!

amazing art, i wish getting bigger had a bigger impact though instead of just increased range.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We plan to scale the retirement age and taxes every time the tree eats a person ;D

Submitted(+1)

very pretty! the gameplay loop is unique and fun, i could see it having upgrades and more food types in the future too!

Developer(+1)

What would you suggest as food? We plan to add "beggars," "priests," and if possible, "knights" or "lumberjacks" :3

Submitted

maybe even try more animals that will be harder to get! like a horse hitching a cart that will go by quickly but will give a lot of points, and maybe upgrades like small roots who automatically get rid of mouses and frogs etc

Love the idea of being human-eating demonic plant ! The art style is really nice too. It's just a little bit difficult to aim characters some times. Really great job !

Developer

we plants have to stick together <3

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful game, damn i killed a lot of "Woohoo"!! Would have loved a kind of aim % to give it a bit more of challenge.

Developer

thank you! we'll add it to goals after the jam <3

it was very fun! liked the concept a lot!

Very fun to play!

I loked the style and gameplay dynamics. Only wish that mistakes and successes were more meaningful, as I paid very little attention to combos and being sneaky and that hasn't actually influenced the gameplay that much.

Would be great to have more challenges while growing bigger and bigger! And maybe some effect (like screen shaking) when achieving a new stage would be also nice :)

Great job!

Developer

Thank you, we will take all of this into account! We're glad you had fun! :D

it's an interesting concept, the artstyle is nice but I wish we could eat the houses and larger objects as the tree began. I think that would make it more in line with the constant growth thing.

Developer

We really wanted to add the ability to eat a couple of houses but didn't manage to :( What else do you think could be eaten, aside from houses?

Submitted

I think there should have another danger besides the getting noticed one. I saw little stones pop up from the ground for a short period from time to time. Although I sent hooks many times I didn't manage to interact with them. I think this game flourish with more threats/ways that enemies interact with you. Think of the Hungy Shark games for mobile, with these types of games I feel like the majority of the cruch is the ability to crush enemies that you couldn't even dream of approaching when you were small. These would be my thoughts about the game but obviously this is a game jam and time is of the essence! So don't worry about it, a lot of features get scrapped all the time, it is the experience we gain that matters! Life is a roguelike with progression after all!

The artstyle is fantastic and music is top notch.

Very fun and addictive game. You also could add soldiers, that come and attack the tree after it gets bigger and bigger, which you have to devour before they reach you. But cool game, I like it!

Developer

Added to our list of ideas! Thank you for the feedback :3

That's soo baaad, you know! Cool plant or tree idk that eats all creatures for revenge. What can be crazier? :) I love this craziness! I love this game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We are crazy about the blend of horror and comedy! :D

Submitted(+1)

Wow the artstyle is amazing! the tree evolution goes crazy, i wanted a gain in attack power as the tree grew tho! that would have been amazing

Submitted(+1)

art style so cool is it inspire from don't starve? and it make me curious what is tree's next form will look like.

Developer

Yes, we adore Klei's style! We were inspired by their crazy and gothic atmosphere of absurdity :D

Submitted(+1)

I was really hooked on finding out the tree's next form. The art for it was good!

Developer(+1)

Love the idea of a plant making a demonic pact, and the design of the transformation were beautiful, well done :)

Developer
