Thanks for making the game, it was fun!

Submitted

very interesting gameplay idea!

Developer

Thanks! tooka a bit to come up with it, and i almost went for something else

Submitted

Nice! We had almost the same idea at first. The game itself looks polished and stylish. The art and SFX are good. But there's definitely something you could do about the camera, e.g. having the vignette or fixed zoom sizes, to reduce motion sickness. Solid overall!

Developer(+1)

Yea... the camera could use some work....

Submitted

Nice and simple game. Reminds me of old skating flash games. I couldn't quite make it under a minute but was good.

Developer

Thanks! It was almost pure chance that the main character was a skateboarder, i didn't know what ti make it be and i couldn't think of anything better

Submitted

Love the game! One of the most enjoyable games i've played so far!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! tho there are quite a few really good games in this jam, have you played "i live here"?

Submitted

Nope, going to check it now!

This is very unique; tying growth, movement and jumping all into one button for something that exceeds the sum of its parts. Despite the simple control scheme (one button) I can see a lot of room for skill expression.

The level generation algorithm could do with some work as getting a good time feels more about getting lucky with the level layout. Some obstacles end up placed a bit close to one another, which leaves little room to correctly scale and position for the jump whilst bouncing back and forth against walls. Outside of these edge cases, the games feels smooth and fun to play.

Developer

Yea.... idk if the level generation algorithm was a good idea in the first place.... i feel like i should've gone with hand crafted levels, but i realized a little too late in the jam

Submitted

'To live is to try' as they say, think of it as a lesson learnt.

But at the same time level generation can allow to keep each run fresh, so whilst it may not have been a good idea for this project with it being more about pushing the limits of speed and scale, it could work for another project down the line.

Either way, it was still fun.

Interesting concept and in the theme perfectly :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Very good and smooth transitions. Simple and fun way to use the grow mechanic. The music is kind of repetitive though. It is great that you need to change size for both going forwards and backwards when you are too close to a wall. I like that there are many different levels. The game is also fairly easy to learn. Good job!

Developer(+1)

The many different levels are actually just a single level generation algorith

Submitted

i played it all the way through! the sound effects and music go great with the game

Developer(+1)

Thanks! i'm not much of a sound person so i'm surprised it went well

My 10 year old son really adore your game;  And the competition about it was also fun.

Really nice mechanic and nicely implemented.  Top game

Developer

Nice to hear that! ig my game is a game for all ages

Extremely creative approach to the theme. I dig it! 5 stars.

I do have one little nugget of wisdom that doesn't come from me, but I think it would be well applied to this game, if you work on it more. Paraphrasing here but, "The goal of level design is to give the player an opportunity to use all the game mechanics".

The mechanic is obviously one thing only, but being big feels fast and being small feels nimble so it's kinda 2 mechanics in 1.

However, the levels as they currently generate, don't really allow the player to feel true exhilarating speed (rather, the feeling of crossing vast distances quickly for an extended time). I think it would serve the game well to space out the obstacles so that the feat of getting through a sneaky tunnel or over a nasty hump is rewarded by drifting through larger distances. This could still include some elevation changes, like almost floating down a set of stairs quickly or whatever.

With some visual context added, like a paralaxing landscape background or a cityscape, it would feel great! speed lines, also!

You've got a real gem here, and my suggestions come from a place of love and enthusiasm! This could be the next speedrunners or something. It's got great potential!

Developer(+1)

Yea... i think having a level genration algorithm isntead of hand crafted levels was a mistake, sadly i realised a little too late in the jam and was scared to not have time to make levels, so i kept the random generation :(

Submitted

Completely understandable! There were plenty of things I needed to change last minute and many other things that didn't make it into the game. Time is a cruel thing.

Submitted

The sound design is incredible! As soon as I clicked on the first button I knew this game had great attention to detail. All the little transitions and menu stuff is suuper solid.

Biggest flaw here is the lack of a kickflip button imo :)

Developer

haha, noted: kickflip button

Submitted

The idea is so unique and well done. The artstyle and design were neat and it was really fun to play!

Developer

Thenks! took a bit to get the moveent to feel right, and if this wasn't a game jam i'd tinker with it more...

Submitted

I love this game so much! The background clearly shows how the camera changes. Soooooo Cool!

And I have learnt a great lesson: I can always combine 2 functions into one single input, instead of making the player press arrows and A D back and forth lol

Developer

Fun fact, there are actually 2 copies of the backrground, one of them scaled down 2x, and the game crossfades between them as you scale up or down

Submitted

Thanks for the revealing. That's an inspiration for sure

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay is really cool !

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted

Dude the game is amazing! Really novel concept it'll be nice to have a smartphone build! Good job!

Developer

This exact thing happened with my previous gmtk jam game, i make game perfectly suited for phone, in fact, it actually even runs on phone, but then i bind an action to the space bar thus making it impossible to play

Submitted

lets goooo some skateboard game, it's been a long time since i played a game like that ahah, that's always so cool to play !! (couldn't do it under a min i'm so maaad)

Developer(+1)

I actually have no idea why i decided to go for a skater as the player character, it was kinda the first thing that came to mind and i couldn't think of anything better...

Submitted

LMAO it was a random idea but definitely a good one for sure !

Submitted

0:45.65 Finally under a minute :D The concept is great, the visuals are great. I love this. Took me a while to get this fast though. It's also really fascinating how big/small the player actually gets because at one point I thought I was already the smallest but then realized that I was actually still somewhere middle sized... Good job!

Developer

At the very beginning there wasn't even a limit on how small you could get....

Submitted

The concept is cool but it gave me too much motion sickness to play it for too long haha

Developer

Yea... i wonder if i could've done something to make the camera less motion sickening...

Submitted

That motion warning at the start is no joke ! :-D

Great idea!

Developer

yep..... there's a lot of motion sickness comments in this comment section...
