Haha that was an interesting idea. Not sure if I missed it, but it would be fun to see interactions like falling objects, breaking glass, etc. And game feel, some small touches, would be soooo good to have anything that sells that you are scaring the people out (e.g SFX, particles, screen shake). Overall, great work!

Thanks for the great feedback! More juice would definitely be great to add!

Nice visual details in the house - sound could have been more interesting.  A bit repetitive.

Thanks for the feedback!

Loved the devlog.

I was curious about the scoring system. Finding out ways for the player to engage with the game mechanics instead of doing things like camping the door is not an easy problem.

In this version of the game, is the goal to keep the hunters inside the house as long as possible without them finding your secrets?

Developer

Thanks for watching! Honestly the scoring system was thrown in during the last 30 minutes, so no thought went into it lol, but the main goal was really just to scare off all the hunters without them finding the knife or skull.

Looks great, self-explanatory, simple, really well done showing what's going on with the characters. Love it.

I saw your devlog. Cute game, nice idea perhaps the implemantation is a bit "Game Jammy" :D I notived by pure rationale that you recharge energy in the dark. Some tutorialization would have been nice.

Art and sound design are great, also character movement is really "Ghost-like".

I found out you could cheese out the game pretty easily by just scaring the hunters and recharging somewhere close. But if not for the 48h jam limit I think this idea could really work as a proper game.

Good job!

Developer

Haha 100% the code is very "jammy" lol. Teaching the game more is definitely something we would have loved to improve! Thanks for the feedback :)

Caught the video for this one on my youtube feed, and thought I'd check it out - The artstyle is great, the sound design is really good for a jam game, and the overall gameplay is pretty fun! The game does a really good job of making you behave like a real ghost would - Waiting in the shadows with subtle hauntings here and there, before jumping out and scaring the group all at once. One point I struggled with, though, is that I think the way you actually score points is a bit unclear - sometimes my score would reset to 0 without me knowing why, or some light switches and doors would be occasionally uninteractive. I'm not entirely sure if these were bugs, or something I was doing wrong, so maybe a little more feedback on the things I'm doing would be great (The sounds on the doors, telephone, and clock are already fantastic)

Once I got the hang of the gameplay loop though, this was a fun game!

Thanks for playing and giving us such great feedback!

Being honest I only clicked on the thumbnail because of Gone home but I found this interesting. I really liked the art too. Sadly I couldn't figure out if there was a win/lose condition, and the yellow character started floating from the first floor to the second floor after some time. But I think it could be a great game if it's fixed.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! It's a bit confusing but the hunters have a scared meter that goes up when you scare them, and will eventually run out of the house when it fills up. The floating characters was because of our pathfinding being a little wonky 😅

Developer

Check out our devlog for the game!

Really great art looks fantastic! The game was a little buggy for me and I didn't quite get the use of interacting with lights and doors. Really great take on the theme

Thanks! Wish we had more time to bug fix and make interactions clearer, but that's how jams go unfortunately. For reference, you need to turn off the lights to scare the hunters :)

Awesome art and music, and the gameplay reminds me of Haunt the House. Thanks for creating! :D

Wow I hadn't heard of that game, funny the similarity!

At first I though the character to scare was Luigi but then I saw the Scooby-Doo van.
Anyways, great and fun concept !

Haha yep, we definitely took inspiration from those, plus some Ghost Busters and Pac-Man ;)

We had a similar idea! You play as a ghost in our game too! Nice work on this. Loved the concept.

Thanks for playing! Spooky games ftw

I've always loved this style of game, it's a little janky but still fun

Thanks for playing!

It's a very cool concept, trying to scare away the people!

It got a bit confusing with the people suddenly teleporting all around, but this is pretty creative, loved it

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Our AI implementation ended up a bit jankier than we'd like but we still found it fun in the end!

It took me a while to understand the haunting mechanic and the fact that you can interact with object to confuse the haunters. Cool concept.

Developer

Thanks! If we had more time we'd definitely have liked to explain the mechanics more, but hope you had fun!
