Simple and to the point, fits the theme very well. Well done!

Thank you, glad you liked it!

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to look at the vod again in the future here it is timestamped to your game

Developer(+1)

Thank you for taking all the time and effort to play, and even timestamp the correct part for me. It was great watching somebody react to the game live!

Love me some space shooters. and this one had a fun twist. Anyway you wanted unfiltered criticism, so here it goes:

I get what you were going for with the slidiness in space, but you way over did it. It felt very awkward trying to control the ship, which made moving around unfun. Also I feel like you should have capped the max speed at a much lower speed, since going at light speed and accidentally running into an enemy was also not fun.

I think if you just tweaked all the movement values to make the ship controls feel responsive, smooth, and in general more predictable, the whole game experience would be way more enjoyable. If you really want to keep over the top sliding, at least triple the turn rate so you have some control of the ship with that.

Two things about your actual core game mechanic.
1. 30 seconds is an incredibly long time.
2. Enemies were chasing you even when they couldn't shoot.

If you shortened the role switch to 10, maybe even 5 seconds, the game would feel way more active and encaging. And I feel like making the enemies run away from you when they can't shoot would enhance the feeling of who is in control at what point, and make for a very fun pacman:ish back and forth.

Developer

Hi, thank you for all the feedback! Glad you liked the twist on it. Lots of the feedback are things I've already heard and knew I wanted different already, but I hadn't thought of enemy ships avoiding the player when able to fire, and do agree that would make it more dynamic. Thank you for taking the time to play and give an opinion!

Pretty clever take on the theme, as a lover of Nova drift it was nice to see the controls and I loved the touch of infinite momentum. It did feel like it took a bit to long between the roles reversing  but other than that super fun!

Developer

Thank you for the positive comments! Funnily enough I had never heard of Nova Drift before the jam and now I of course keep hearing of it. Glad to see somebody who enjoyed the fast movement, even if I think it was a weak point lol. Thank you for playing!

Neat idea! Enjoyed it overall, but found it was better to sit in one spot because I couldn't tell where the enemies were coming from to turn and face them fast enough while moving, which felt like it defeated the purpose. Cool concept though!

Developer

Thank you for playing and enjoying! The player movement definitely isn't the best; I wish I had limited the possible speed of the player. Glad you liked it!

I didn't get quite grok it at first, but once the roles reversed it was super clever! I also like that you can apply force in all 4 directions instead of not being able to apply to the front. Really cute game. I wish the camera was slightly more zoomed out - at the start it was a bit tough to find enemies so I was confused on what I was trying to accomplish.

Overall, cool concept for an arcade game!

I'd appreciate it if you check out my game too if you have a minute!

Developer

I'm glad you thought it was clever! Glad you enjoyed it, and I was never sure quite how to place the camera in the end, and think maybe a minimap would help it. Thanks for taking the time to review and comment! Glad you enjoyed it!

Solid concept and execution here! Lot of little things QoL things that would make it way more enjoyable (radar for seeing enemies past the screen, slightly slower character / faster bullets, etc) but it's already a lot of fun! good work :)

Developer

Thank you for the positive review! All those things you mentioned I've absolutely thought about and would have done if I had more time on it (and probably will in the future). Glad you liked it!

Very creative application of the theme, little hard to control and aim, especially since contact blows you up, but the panic that sets in when roles first reverse and the satisfaction when they switch back is so good

Developer

Glad you enjoyed playing it! Controls are definitely a thing for me to work on for future versions, thanks!

I love the controls here, kinda slide-y but fun once I got the hang of it. very cool game.

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

Very cool game and nice take on the theme very literal^^

I personally don't like games that controll like this - for me it feels like driving on ice.

Still I had fun!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you still had fun, thank you for the kind words and review!

Thank you for making the game! Be sure to check out mine too!

It's so simple yet so cool and well implemented. At first i didn't understand how it fit in the theme, but then i realised after the timer the roles were reversed and was real fun, congrats!

Developer

Thank you for thinking it's cool! Glad you liked it

Love the idea here. Tight scope and great execution. The flip really caught me off guard the first run lol. Visually the game has a great aesthetic and the audio is solid. I wish the controls were a little less icey, maybe give the player more control and make the projectiles faster.

Well done, fantastic entry.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and for playing! I'm very glad you liked it, and I can see you found the same problems that I personally agree the game has, about player movement and perhaps bullet speed. Thanks!

Solid idea, my favorite part was flying around super fast avoiding enemies.

Developer

Glad you liked it, thank you!

The art is great, the controls are great, and its fun! I would love more health, i was not good enough to ram a ship, and would have liked to actually experience that.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! It's definitely difficult to ram into the ships during the reverse, but thanks for playing!

I like the idea of each side get a turn to attack in a shooter game like this, and it's challenging as well since even on your turn you still need to avoid crashing with the ship drifting, great fun!

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked the idea!

The art style is great. The controls are kind of difficult. Still, it's a fun game.

Developer

Thank you! I'm proud to say the artwork was done by myself and was my first ever real success in pixel artwork. Thanks for playing and enjoying!

Loved the game, controls can be tuned more but all in all lovely game! Make sure to  update it after the  jam!

Developer

Thank you for playing, glad you liked it! I am definitely thinking to continue updates

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!

It's very fun. Game has giant potential. Please, make new version after jam!

Developer

Thanks for such positive words! I am definitely thinking to continue development after the jam, to include better controls as well as things such as upgrades or power-ups.
