Hey, the idea for your game is great, and trying to get a new high score is very rewarding. Swapping the ability to attack really makes the game fun to go through. But I feel as though it was quite difficult to control the ship.

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you liked the idea! Ship controls is definitely difficult, wished I had more time

Never tell me the odds!

Haha, nice!

It great idea of a game and great execution, you could easily addicted to achieve a better score. great submission.

Developer

Thank you for the positive words and great score! Thanks for playing.

i love the creative take on the theme. I felt like the ship was a bit too slow to turn and would end up dying because of it. One detail i do love is the jets light up depending on what way you turn

Developer

Thank you! I was very happy with how the thrusters ended up looking for the different movement directions. Indeed the ship controls are not as perfect as I would like them. Glad you like the idea of the theme!

I like the concept! Has lots of potential! Controlling the ship is actually a lot harder than I thought, which meant I fly into enemy ships a lot haha. I think adjusting some of the values in terms of the ship's acceleration would definitely help with moving around more comfortably. Also, bullet speed could be higher since at times I would be going faster than the bullet! Anyway, it's a cool design and I hope you continue working on it afterwards!

Developer

Hi, thank you for playing! Controlling the ship is definitely difficult, and it's somewhat on purpose and somewhat not. I definitely would like to have tinkered with the player controls more, but didn't find the time for the jam. For bullet speed also, I think the issue would be fixed in a cool way if they followed the player's velocity (travelling fast + firing = fast moving bullet). Thanks for the positive words!

Cool Idea and nice visuals. It's very satisfying to destroy enemy ships, whether that be shooting or ramming into them. I just think it needs some tweaks for the movement of the ship (Quicker change in direction, faster acceleration, and a maximum speed are some examples of things you can tweak).

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the positive words and constructive feedback! The movement system are absolutely something I wish I had more time to tweak with. I found tinkering with the settings of it more difficult than I had anticipated and I ended up going with what i had with the time limit. Thank you for playing!

(sorry commented on the wrong page lol)

this is a very fun idea! An asteroids type game where you actually do have to ram into the enemies sometimes, it challenges the conventions you would expect for sure.

The sprite work is positively lovely, I adore how all the ships and the space background look! I found the gameplay very engaging, but it takes some getting used to due to how different the concept is from the norm. Though I guess that's part of the point of the jam either way!

Developer

(Here is my comment from the other page, lol)

Thank you for the positive comments! The gameplay is indeed somewhat difficult, but I believe holds a good skill-ceiling also. Needing time to get used to it is understandable! Glad you had fun with it.

One of the more original games on this Jam! The movements are a bit hard to control which makes it more chaotic which I absolutely love. Also the switching of the roles captures the essence of this Jam prefectly and adds a some variation in the gameplay. Would've liked more additions like maybe power-ups or different enemies (like more unique ones with different attacks) but considering the time limit of this Jam this is very good. Hats off !

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for taking the time to play it! I'm very glad you enjoyed the game and appreciated the creativity and link to the theme. With the idea of power-ups and enemy variation, it's absolutely something I would have added if I had more time available. Instead I kept focused on making what I had as fun and playable as possible. Thanks again! <3

The aircraft controls are way more realistic than other space shooters I've seen (like mine 😅) - you have no drag, like you would in outer space. The pixel art also has that really nice 3D shading effect that I never seem to get right, and it just makes this overall a really solid game. (to everyone saying that it doesn't fit the theme, just play for 30 sec. You'll see what I mean.)

Thank you very much for the kind words and taking the time to play and review! I'm glad you enjoyed the realistic approach I took to the controls, even though they are hard to get used to. Thank you for reassuring me on the theme fitting! <3

Unsure about it fitting the theme but keep up the dev, turned out good!

Not sure if it plays along with the theme. I think it is a great start and looking forward to what you make for the next one!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the positive response! I would however argue my case for fitting the theme, with the "role" of the players and enemies reversing back and forth, between a "ranged role" and a "melee role", if you will.
