86 score first try woot!
It's always nice to see a rhythm game.
The only thing I'd like to improve is probably making it easier to swing around the red ball, because I had to stay relatively calm to not lose. I'm not sure how to exactly do it though, perpahs change note spawn to place red notes in some kind of semi-circles or something, maybe also introduce "phases" so that sometimes there are mostly blue notes on screen and sometimes mostly red. Just a couple suggestions.
The game looks pretty polished, so good job on that!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. That's an impressive score for a first try ;)
Do you mean that the playstyle of swinging red ball around should be easier? I do think it's the best if you want to try collecting every note, though I would try some changes to make it less likely to collect a wrong note immediately after it spawns.
Well, probably you can swing the red ball and not lose if you have the skill, but I don't have it. Perhaps it requires some time to get used to.
But yeah, I think it should be easier, at least in the beginning - having a slowly increasing difficulty would be nice IMO and give some time to adapt without too much frustration.
This is wonderful. It's so polished and fun. My only gripe is that getting -3 for the wrong color is a bit punishing, it basically means that unless you get more than 75% of the notes correct, you will have a negative score, which seems a bit harsh. Excellent work.
Thank you!
It's 75% of collected notes, you can skip some ;)
Yeah, it may be too much, I'll probably lower it to 1 or 2 post jam. Did not have people to playtest and did not realize how many people will end up having a negative score.
Spinny Saber
Nice game.
1, The game is too hard.
2, There is no game over or high score, so there is no use playing the game.
Besides these, nice game.
I would be very happy if you would play my game.
Thank you for the feedback. The game is meant to be difficult, so there is room for improvement and getting a higher score. I didn't want to add lose state so that everyone can play through the whole song, even if they aren't the best.
Wow! That was very fun! Well polished clever idea! Fav++
Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it
Love this beat based game. you found good music and have nice simple art to go with it. I love how as time when on the speed went faster.
Beat-based games must have good music, and I'm glad to say that this game's soundtrack is groovy! Controls could be a bit tighter as the blue ball felt a bit heavy to move around sometimes, but solid concept with solid visuals!
Thank you!
The speed of the blue ball is capped so it deasn't make the red one fly everywhere too much (as can be seen in the menu where the speed is higher). Though it's definetly something to balance out.
Really enjoy the concept for this game! It felt quite unique and really groovy to play as you got the hang of things :)
One thing I noticed was that I often didn't really feel like I was swinging to the beat or working in tandem with the music. I'm not sure how it would really feel, but perhaps having the notes fly over a dead zone that you have to either hit with the mouse or swing the red ball into would establish a more solid flow.
Regardless, I had a fun time playing this and think you made something pretty cool, good job!
Thank you!
Yes, while the notes come out on beats, you can collect them (or not) at any point.
I do think it would be cool to have different game modes including one where you collect notes on beat, as it would require completely different systems.
Loved the idea for the game. Very unique concept!
Wow cool concept! I really like this graphic style and the game in general looks pretty polished.
My only problem was that Im very bad at the game so I cant really move the red ball controlled around. Thats why at the end I got a score of -20 or something XD
Nevertheless a very great concept and it was still much fun to play.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Really liked the idea. First rhythm/music game I encountered on this game jam
This game is lots of fun to move and play. Either I'm very musical and accidentally hitting the notes on the beat, or that mechanic wasn't really there, but I might be missing something. But it was very enjoyable to play.
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
The notes do come out on beat, but you can collect them at any time
The swing mechanic is very fun to play around with, to the point that it seemed much more fun to me to try to land the red notes. My biggest gripe is that it seemed like the rhythm aspect wasn't really incorporated into the gameplay. Maybe if different elements of the song triggered different "cannons", like one is for the kick, the other is for snares, one for main synth line, or something like that, it would make the gameplay more musical.
I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
The notes do come out together with beats of the song, though I noticed that if the game lags/stutters it causes them to desync
Interesting concept, and really good swing mechanic. Well presented and well juiced.
It's also pretty difficult. I just couldn't control it well enough to deliberately aim when swinging fast, and while I could kinda hit the things I wanted if I went slow, it wasn't as much fun playing like that. I don't think I ever had a positive score!
Thanks! I'm glad you had fun playing
Love the concept of this game, super well polished and great gameplay! Great job :D
Thank you! Happy to know you enjoyed it
This is the game I have spent the most time on so far when looking through the games in the Jam. Brilliant idea, with great execution. The music is well selected.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed playing it.
I like the premise of this game. I was actually recently curious if anyone made a rhythm game for this jam, and I'm glad to see the answer is yes. If I had a complaint, it would be that your movements often don't move with the beat, even if the note spawn does. Overall, very good game!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Yeah, the player movement doesn't really have to be synced with music so it's not a REAL rhythm game, but the upside is that if the beats desynchronize with the music (which unfortunately can happen if the game lags) it doesn't affect the gameplay much.
the amount of polish is 10/10. Really cohesive visual/audio style, great physics, very nice to play. Well done!
I wish there were some kind of lose condition. Maybe like a meter that goes down whenever you miss notes or hit the wrong colors, and cuts the song short if it drops to 0. That would've gotten me more involved in the gameplay and made me want to keep trying again and again to hit higher scores, or "beat" the song.
overall very well done for a 48 hour game! Very impressive
Thank you! It means a lot :)
I did at first think of making a lose state - something like in beat saber, though decided against it (mostly due to time constraints)
It's something I would definetly add in a full game, but on my last game jam I made a game that was quite difficult and most people wouldn't finish it and see the ending. So here I wanted to make sure that even if you aren't the best you still can play through the whole song and later try improving your score :)
Oh yeah, that totally makes sense. We put a “skip level” button in our game for the exact same reason, we wanted people to be able to see the whole game. good call. Great job, again, this is a super impressive entry!
Cool concept! I really like the music and the red and blue art style! I'm not the best at it, though I somehow managed to get -39 points. Nice work!
Thank you, appreciate it!
It's definetly quite hard at first :p
Great game! I really liked the fact that new notes come out on beat, I also liked selection of music for this kind of game. Don't know if I am too bad or a game is too hard but my score was almost always negative
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
