How does your game fit the theme?
You can detach from your body and join other bodies. By doing that you lose control of your body, so there is a consequence to joining and breaking the join.

I think it's fun, but also a little bit too annoying to keep  playing for more than a couple of minutes. Maybe you can add a keyboard shortcut for switching control between the closest object (Sort of like alt-tab?), or maybe instead of CTRL/SHIFT + CLICK you could just make a right-click work? I really like it otherwise!

This is a really fun take on the jam nice work! :)

The main mechanics is a lot of fun, even if a bit tedious to use the mouse to swap. maybe it would be better to be able to select the object to control with the keyboard :)

I liked this :) The “possession” mechanic was well used for the puzzles and it was all well presented.

I did find the selection to be a bit twitchy, especially when linking across things. But 48 hours is a very short time to make a game, and I had fun :)

this was a lot of fun to play! the concept of hopping around into different objects was interesting, and I came to appreciate the slow-mo effect when you hold down the button so you had a little more time to react.

I have ONE gripe about this game and it's that ctrl + W is the "close tab" shortcut and I accidentally closed my tab and lost my progress because I was switching to a vertical sliding platform and was a little too fast on clicking 'W'.  Love it though!

Developer

That happened to my flatmate after I submitted the game, so I added shift as a possible alternative and resubmitted it.

I hope you were able to go back through the level select and finish the game, glad you played anyways! :)

Nice mechanic, smooth controls, cute pixel aesthetic and love the funny death sound effects.
Good job on your entry!

Developer(+1)

The death sound was probably my greatest decision during the jam

I really like the idea of "ping pong"ing your soul around different objects. Great execution

gameplay and visuals are right on spot.Definitely an interesting and fun game.

Unique idea. Definitely an interesting and fun game. The pixel art was great too.

The idea is great!

Really nice game all: idea, gameplay and visuals are right on spot. Good job :)

Developer

Thank you! :)

That game is really well implemented and quite fun. :) I am a big fan of the time slowing when you have shift pressed to give the player time to switch between moving objects. Greatly done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I wasn't sure about keeping the slowmo mechanic since my flatmate got confused by it (he forgot to let go of shift and didnt understand why everything was slowed down...) but I'm glad I kept it! :)

So CUTE!

Really fun to think through. A great exploration of the mechanics you made. Nice mix of puzzle and platformer.

No real critiques for a game jam game, very natural.

Amazing work <3

Thanks! I would've loved to explore the switch/button a bit more since I could control different things of the platform or gate with it, but I was too tired to think of clever puzzles that weren't tedious to play.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Yeah a walking enemy or two to make that leaving the body mechanic extra risky would've been fun too.

But game jams are full of woulda's, and I think what you've published is awesome.

Very nice idea and platforming felt really good. Really good overall!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)

This was such a great game !

The main gamemplay is a well designed and easy to understand after the good tutorial.

The sound design and the graphics are also very good !

I really enjoyed playing it !

Thank you very much! I'm glad I had the time to add music and sounds, it adds so much in my opinion

Wow, this is such a great game, it's not too hard but not too easy, the puzzles are interesting, and the mechanic, wow, it's so cool, I can only imagine the chaotic mess of code you would have to make in 48 hours to get it working and working so well!

Best game I have played so far in the GMTK game jam!

(also the ending screen :) )

Developer

Thaanks! That's actually the exact difficulty I was going for. I thought about more complicated puzzles but since this is a game jam, I thought it was better to add some simple but fun levels rather than big boring and difficult ones.

And yeah... the code is not the best... but doing fast and dirty code is what allowed me to have time to add levels and sounds :D

Submitted

Yea, who needs fast and good code when you need code fast :D

This was a really cool game and concept! Levels took some thinking to solve and were interesting. The actual attachment/detachment mechanic is a bit rough on the camera movement, but the puzzle and presentation were very cool.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing it!

I actually tried to make the camera smooth but it broke other stuff and didn't have time to figure it out...

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll try out your game later :)
