Really cool spin on the idea for a neat platformer. I like the art style too, reminded me of N++.

Developer

Thanks!

Took 612 seconds... Hah... I suck xD I liked it though. Neat little game. It took awhile to get used to the controls but after that it just took patience and rhythm

Developer(+1)

Not too bad for a first run! Glad you enjoyed

Challenging game! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Hope you enjoyed it :D

The levels were all super fun, the idea is so good I can see it becoming something so much more.  The SFX created some nice feedback and the simplistic art style of just using black and white gives the game a really nice aesthetic. Great game!

Thanks!

This is one of the best games of the jam for sure. A lot of games have done "out of controls" but this did it best I think.

Developer

Thank you! That's some very high praise, hopefully it ends up pretty high up in the final results

Yali!! This game is so good!! Gives a whole new meaning to "precision platformer" makes it really fun to conserve momentum once you get the levels down, and has a different game feel than most other platforms due to the limited resource, the aesthetics were amazing as always and the sound effects piling on each other in combos were really satisfying, I seriously hope this wins the whole thing, Great Job!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks man :D Here's hoping!

Really neat game! Took a while to get used to the walljump timing, wish there was a way to practice it better since you have such limited time. When I got used to it though, it was really fun! The last level's easter egg (you can go through where the title is) was neat to find accidentally as well! Well done :)

My only feedback would be to lower the volume of the power up: it was kind of loud in comparison to the rest of the game.

Developer

Thank you! I'll be sure to keep that stuff in mind for a post-jam build

Nice idea and took some time to get used to. Definitely good fun. Can imaging this being quite engaging if it's polished a bit more!

Developer

Thanks! After all this feedback, I'm definitely interested in expanding on the concept more

I could tell it was going to be fun, but couldn't seem to get the timing for walljumping right in browser. Also, are you supposed to be able to tap the keys to move without spending much usage?

Developer (1 edit)

The walljump is a little finnicky, yeah - you need to hold the button against the wall, the tap jump.

Also I'm not sure for your other question - the way the game works is the button timer goes down as long as the key is held, and each timer maxes out at 1 second. Theoretically tapping it would work, it'd just drain for as long as you tapped.

Hope it was ok for you, regardless!

Great concept! I had some difficulty pulling off wall-jumps consistently but other than that great game! Keep it up!

Thank you!

Lots of fun! I'm a sucker for puzzle-y platformers, and this one really has the sauce! The mechanics is easy to understand but tricky to master, and the level design does a great job of testing your abilities. I felt really clever when I found the secret path on the last level :)

My one piece of criticism would be that walljumping could be pretty inconsistent at times. I had to wait a little bit after moving towards the wall before I could jump.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I don't do walljump mechanic super often, so I agree it's pretty flaky - I might try and patch it to be better once the jam ends.

man this game is HARD

honestly i was going to be more critical of the difficulty but it's all smooth once you get used to it, the levels are nice and movement is punchy. overall really enjoyed it!

i didn't experience any weird bugs. i'm a little annoyed by the blocks having a diagonal corner but you still collide with it as if it's a square, but it doesn't affect very many of the levels

Developer

Thanks! I was worried about the difficulty, but I think it turned out as being more 'difficult but fair' than 'annoyingly difficult'.

Also as for the blocks - that was mostly to make the levels look more interesting, but I didn't want to implement slopes so I just kept the whole rectangle collider. Probably not the best decision, but it's not gamebreaking or anything

Submitted(+1)

I don't know why but most of the levels were covered for me so i didn't get past the wall-jumping. Still, you had a very unique mechanic and idea with the controls running out!

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Huh, that's weird - I'll make a windows build, that might fix some of the issues if you want to try playing it again

EDIT: Can't edit it until after the jam is over, sorry about that. Maybe try resizing the screen?

Submitted

Hm, I'm trying. Full screen mode seems to shift it but it's somehow covering up for me in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Which browser is working on your end?

Developer(+1)

I'm just using Firefox. I think you might be zoomed in on the webpage - I got a similar issue when I zoomed in

Submitted(+1)

I was finally able to play more of your game due to your comment! I had zoomed out to about 50% to get the covers out of the way. Seriously, just might be something weird on my end. What a great challenging game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad we figured it out eventually😅

Hey, i really liked this game. The frustration of barely not making it to the goal kept me playing it for longer than i expected xD

Also the quick transition to retrying a level is very nice

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, with how difficult the game is I wouldn't want people waiting more than a second between restarts

Submitted(+1)

That's an incledible game, I loved it! it's simples and elegant. congratulations!

Developer

Thank you!
