Concept is fun and simple. Movement could be a little bit better.

Your game tricks our habits by shooting in the opposite direction of where the ship is going. That's was surprising !
I definitively see this game becoming a multiplayer one !

cool but complicated because of gaming habits, so i went often on the edges and try to act as a static cannon

Developer

Little Insight to the game: enemies spawn at the edges and so often you run into them if you are at the edge. My tactic is to be in the middle  and go in circles ,shooting everything.

However that breaks down when the boss arrives

Submitted

Interesting idea. It's impossible for me to get away from the edge but that may be because I can't go in full screen mode for some reason

Developer

There should be fulscreen button in the bottom right corner

It was because I was using Itch's new randomizer feature, which disables the fullscreen

Well I learned something new!!

Like the idea that you always move away from what you're shooting at which means you always move towards potential danger, very interestin!

Nice idea but execution has some issues. Try making the ship waay smaller and make it move a bit slower because now its just too fast. Good luck :)

Okay, interesting idea, struggeling execution. The spaceship moves so fast that it's hard to control, especially since the arena is so small. Also you can't move your mouse outside the screen, so once your in a corner, it's pretty hard to get out. But overall a solid concept that shows promise!

Please check out our game at https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463868! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Yes the area is small but there is a full screen button at the bottom-right corner  of the game-screen. This should make the game much more pleasing to play.

The rotation of the ship is based on where your mouse is compared to the center of the ship.  This means that closer your mouse is, faster you can turn in less mouse movement.

In my testing period I haven't  encountered any problem with the ship getting stuck in the corner  but I can only guess it is because of the small screen not showing the entire area. So I think that playing in full screen is the way to go.

I'm not near the computer this week so I won't be able to fix  the speed as well.I personally liked it as it was the minimum speed required to dodge the bullets of the enemy ship when touching it( the ship turns slow so enemy ship takes long to turn big angles )

Thanks for the feedback-it means a lot!! I can only blame it on myself as the CSS and HTML coding could have been better but I left  it at the default code which unity compiled for me.

Quite possible that my failure to activate fullscreen mode was the culprit in this case.

I was unable to really play.  Ship would get stuck on the side and couldn't get it back to the middle.  Good first try!  Keep practicing!

I don't quite understand how my ship is controlled.

Developer

Basically, the rear end of the ship points towards the mouse. Also the ship automatically shoots for you and bullets flies off from the rear end.

This means that you have to dodge the various obstacles while simultaneously shooting as well. This makes the game,I think, more interesting and difficult.

I have experimented with strafe and making the ship follow the directions of the mouse when mouse is clicked. It's definetly made the game  easier to play but however the ship repeatedly glitch through the wall if I strafed too much.

Thank you for your explanation! Now it's much clearer. And now I played in fullscreen mode, it helped too.

Hmm the game won't open full screen in my browser, but I still tried my best to play.  The controls are clever, good job! (also it was a little loud haha, had to take off my headphones)  Please try my entry if you have time.  Only One Arrow by Neat Games.

Hello!

Thanks for the feed back! - it is my first game on itch.io and Im really excited about this (no hopes for the game jam through!). I was a utter doofus and forgot to set the game to auto-resize. And yesterday the GMTK jam was kind of  buggy due to the amout of submissions and so I wasn't able to check my website. It is now fixed and should be playable.

I am looking forward to play your game!
