ONLY ONE direction: up AND right. :D Nah, but seriously: small, but clever twist on the flappy bird formula. Like how the sub speeds up quite a bit if you hold the key for longer. Definitely can imagine someone with more skill than me to min-max upon this in order to finish the level as quick as possible. Maybe add a timer? However, I feel that the level design rarely leaves enough room for that kind of movement: would have considered a mostly diagonal level with just a few linear parts instead. As of right now, I avoided abrupt movements and tried to move in small, but stable steps.

Cheers mate! Yeah, a level focused around that direction of movement would certainly be more fluid! Trying to find a speed that felt controllable while not agonisingly slow was one of the trickiest parts of this to balance (and I don't claim to have a perfect solution at all)!

Nice! I am so bad at these types of games but interesting take that it makes you move in two directions instead of just up.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I thought it would be a fun take on this genre which fit the theme pretty well! Thanks for checking it out :)

one-button PICO-8 game! Love the PICO games :) Great music too! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! I'm a fan of them too! It was a rush to figure out music implementation in this (this is the first bit of music I've written for Pico-8) but I'm glad I made the time for it! :)

Simple but well-executed! Linking both horizontal and vertical motion to the action button definitely gives you a lot more control over your motion, which is nice. The environment and music are quite nice, too.

Thank you very much, I appreciate you taking the time to check it out :)

Super cute! The only frustration is that the precision of the input was hampered by my computer - it would sometimes "hold" my key longer than I actually did and get me killed. Great art, sound and atmosphere!

Developer

Thank you very much, I appreciate you checking it out! I'm sorry to hear you had that experience, I hope it's just a funny platform thing :/

The movement feels excellent and really fits right in with the cute, simple music and art. My only complaint is that the game might work better with more vertical level design as opposed to straight, narrow corridors, but as is this is an extremely fun and addictive little game.

Thanks very much, I appreciate you taking the time to check it out! You're right, that would be an excellent idea to implement if I'm making something like this in the future :)
