I really liked this experience! The sudden and different changes to the amount of light I had when going through the same rooms on repeated attempts were a bit confusing though.

Looking forward to playing again when music and other improvements are added.

Thank you very much for playing and appreciate your feedback. I surely will make several changes soon in sha'Allah that should make things much clearer. Thanks again :)

As someone who ruminates on past mistakes alot and constantly enounter waves of anxiety attacks, this game resonates with me. Good job, I'm glad to have played it.

I love that game. Only thing I would probably change is add some background music. Probably gonna elevate those emotions. Would keep an eye on it, as I am a super fan!

Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it, and I am honored to have you as a super fan :)

There’s definitely something special here and I could feel the emotional weight behind the design choices. I was a bit confused about how the light system worked as it seemed like sometimes I had positive light but I would still get to the lose screen, but I was still definitely curious to find out the game’s deeper meaning and kept trying! Would love love to see how you evolves this, seen how much thoughtfulness has been put into this entry.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate your encouragement 🙏

I will add the math of the light here and in the instructions as I think I should have made that more clear to the player through ingame feedback which I will add too in the next version.

Basically there is an initial loss from living the memory and as long as the memory is not resolved, the initial loss will be repeated on scene entry. For scenes that require praying (the harder ones),  praying decrease initial loss by a certain amount and as you continue praying each time the initial decreases until it reaches zero.  Also, doing actions to resolve a bad memory requires some light. The amounts are different depending on the level of pain attached to the memory.

On the other side you gain light from good memories, from resolving bad memories, and praying.

I will continue working on this one the soonest in sha' Allah and hopefully you will be playing a more refined and more enjoyable version soon :)

Thanks again :)

Cool idea! Lots of emotions, but unclear on what is happening. I can tell there is a lot of passion in this project and I am excited to see what it could become! Would love sfx/ music with each location to help with immersion, but overall, great job! Here are some notes meant to be helpful so you can continue to grow and improve as a game developer:

1) The text moving as each character is added is sometimes hard to read. I wonder if there is a way to add each character that doesn't change the position of every character (Think stardew valley)

2) Going through the same rooms multiples times takes my light, even if I already prayed for peace or altered the memory, so that felt strange

3) Going down after I go left takes me to the beginning and plays the message as if I ran out of light.

4) I can get to negative light which looks strange on screen - maybe clamping it so it cannot go negative?

5) Quite a few spelling / grammar mistakes which just leads to me being taken out of immersion

Great job getting this game up!

Thanks for your kind words and your feedback.

I didn't notice the first point but will check it and find a way to fix it.

Point 2,3,4 are intended. I wanted to simulate someone who is trapped in the past and the memories will keep bothering them until they find a way to come to peace with them. They can leave when they want but they will stay haunted. Also, I thought about clamping light value but I thought it could show better  what is happening to the person.

The final point I will fix soon along with adding music  sfx and some missing actions' visual effects that were direly needed. I just didn't have enough time for the 3000 tasks I needed to do :D

Will continue working on it in sha' Allah post rating. Thanks again really appreciate your time :)

Hopefully the feedback was helpful! I get it - so much to do for a jam, so little time! Good luck working on it!

I have finally uploaded the web version. If you had the chance to play it, I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks again :)

I finally uploaded the web version. There was a very nasty, persistent bug that took forever to be killed :D
If you have the time to play it, I would appreciate your feedback

Just played it thanks.

I can see what you were aiming for with the story elements, and the style of gameplay.

Sound and music would definitely help with the immersion, and could be used to accentuate the emotion of the different scenes.

The situations described through the story are quite innocuous when looked at as a single event, and most of us would have experienced a bad day like the events described when growing up.  However, when those events happen again and again, like the story alludes to, is when it goes from a bad day to a situation that damages those that live through it.  When young, it can make you feel trapped, unwanted and insignificant, as you grow it can then lead to situations of depression, low self esteem and self destructive behaviours that can damage all types of personal relationships, aspirations and prospects.

I honestly hope you were not affected by these stories, if you were, thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the heart felt words. It is hard to talk about it but thankfully the process of making this game has actually helped me alittle (even though that was not my intention). I actually wanted at first to do hypothetical scenarios but found my mind going in this direction so I decided to go with my feeling.

Thanks again for playing the game and for connecting and sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it :)
