I was pretty invested in this one. I found the notebook and after that I think maybe the game glitched? There wasn't anything I could interact with but it might be that I just didn't know what to do. A great game though! Good work with this!
Nice work on this. Clean programming. I didn't look hard, but I would throw in a volume slider or tune the volume of the music down some. (I could use a slider in my game tbh). Great job!
This was the best game I played in all the jam. I couldn't stop going for the next item. Well done.
This was a great puzzle/adventure game. The safe was a good distraction, Enjoyed playing it there was a few bugs with colliders but nothing major. Nice work.
This was a fun little story and fun puzzles. You have quite an imagination. I can you making some fun games like "The secret of monkey island" or "Kings Quest." This is a good submission. Keep at it.
I'm always impressed when people can make an adventure game with puzzles and a story in such a short amount of time, and this was well done. I think the control scheme is pretty innovative, too, with direct control of the character and mouse interaction. I discovered a few glitches, which is to be expected, but nothing terrible. Overall, I enjoyed this.
impressive game. i liked the details. you wrote this story in 10 days, beside that you made a game about this story. its amazing. congrats for submission
Interesting point and click. Has been a while since I played one of those.
I was so impressed when I got to the puzzle, I loved it so much.
This detective style game has potential!
Very well done :)
I don't know how many endings there were, I only played one - gave the book to the lawyer as I was told to hehe.
I did encounter some problems, firstly my first 2 attempts went to the credit scene right away before I could play. The opening prologue text is too small, even at full screen and the font didn't match the game.
For me I, I liked the big info symbol about the interactables but I would have preferred to click on the item itself rather than the symbol.
The portrait puzzle is available from the start but nothing happens when you complete it. Then after I'd done the other stuff, that's when I went back and clicked on it again and got the key, I'm not sure if I only got the key because when you complete it, the back button isn't blocking the puzzle behind it so when you click to go back out, it moves the puzzle piece underneath.
It was a nice puzzle, not too difficult. I liked the letter, that was a nice touch but the info interaction with the globe seemed to disappear after I got rid of the snake - I no longer had the option to "get the globe", now I realise that getting it wasn't the point but it seemed odd that I got rid of the snake so I could get it and then it was no longer interactable.
Things I like:
-The puzzles: the painting puzzle was so responsive and so much fun! I would have loved some fun fanfare, but it was so awesome!
-figuring out how the letter gave away the order of the numbers, that made me feel clever and that means you are doing something awesome to give a player that kind of reward- a thoughtful and well designed puzzle
-music and aesthetics all fit together very well
-cool interact system! Loved how the interact thing popped up!
Things to improve:
-If I am holding something with my mouse and move to the next scene, I lose the item permanently.
-Should be more of a visual cue for the boundaries of the level - player cannot move offscreen if there is a boundary there
- interact symbol should be pixelated - same with font
-introduction monologue should be clicked through, bigger, and the end should not take you to the next scene (credits) in case players need time to get ready
Overall:
This was one of my favorite games of this game jam so far! You are doing a great job- keep up the great work! I hope to see more of those painting puzzles from you in the future! ;P
Thanks for checking out my game! I think you played the updated version, but if you found any bugs or issues, or ways to improve, let me know!
I liked the adventure style and puzzles to progress in the story.
Something funny that happened was that the game was over before I could even take a step!
I was reading the instructions at the start and somehow it sent me to the credits page and title screen. XD
Also, nice music.
Good game!
I liked the adventure style look and feel. I hated the snake and wanted to try anything to kill him! The puzzles were pretty cool.
Nice game! Reminded me of King's Quest. The music and visual style really fit together well!
Overall a really good submission the story was pleasant and I like the puzzling aspect of the game. I think you would really benefit from universalizing all your assets and arts so it makes a more cohesive visual story (making them all pixel art or other mediums) otherwise the UI Mechanics work well and I know how hard that can be to get right.
Reminds me of those questing retro games. :-) A suggestion: for the first time reader, the lawyer speaks too fast. Maybe spacebar to pause his speech? For subsequent iterations, we do want him to hurry up, lol.
I like the style :D Sadly I couldn't hear he music.
If you have the time, please rate mine :)
Congrats on submitting! I enjoyed the retro aesthetic and music!
rate4rate?
