I am not proud of it, but I have to admit I feel a physical attraction towards sekhmet.
there.
I said it.

But it's the artists fault for leading me down this path!

let us know if you want her number haha

Great game entry, I like the Egyptian theme. The camera made it a bit hard to work out where to move at times but I find getting the camera right can be tricky. I also went out of the building and got stuck, not sure if that was supposed to happen but the enemy came for me and killed me anyway. Nice work!

Developer

Sadly it's not something that is supposed to happen, but we had a few technical issues at the end so we didn't get to test as much as we wanted and it's meant there are a few places that let you escape and the camera is a little...wonky.  Thanks for giving us feedback, it's much appreciated.

Since there is no browser playable version nor a downloadable Linux build, I had to download and compile it myself (not so much an issue).

Unfortunately gameplay for me was mostly fighting against the movement controls and the camera position. When I did manage to reach the second room with the puzzle, I got stuck trying to walk around some of the obstacles. Having an enemy in constant pursuit doesn't suit that puzzle area well, unless there's some way to deal with her beforehand that I wasn't able to find out how to do...

So, maybe the game would actually be better without her as a pure puzzle gsme?

I like the ancient egyptian theme, and the presentation of the game was nice! Congrats on the submission 😎

thank you so much!

Graphics are very nice, and the music fits the game well, but I couldn't really work out what to do.

There were amulets about the place that I couldn't pick up, even after my health depleted.

Pressing E didn't seem to do anything in some parts.

I don't know why I was collecting the coloured stones, I couldn't seem to do anything with them., and I couldn't pick all of them up.

I also managed to escape the level by exiting the first room where Sekhmet came from. Then I just ran around the outside of the map and entered the room at the end and made my way to the afterlife.

I would have preferred a method to fight Sekhmet, even if its just to stun it for a few seconds before it chases you again.

The game really needs sound effects, if nothing else than to give player feedback when being attacked or activating something.

thanks for the feedback, the amulets and stones unfortunately we needed a bit more time to fix!

Developer

thank you!

The atmosphere is really well done in this game. All assets scream "Egypt", but the action is also very readable. The music is nice, but I miss some sound effects (time constraints are hard :D). Very good job!

thank you! glad you enjoyed it !

Played and rated. Had a fun time!

Pros

  • Visual style is attractive and looks nice
  • Puzzles are simple but interesting
  • The pharaonic music fits the ambience

Cons

  • Lacks sound effects
  • I personally didn't find it fun to run away from Sekhmet, it was stressing
  • The connection to the theme is not so strong

Overall the game looks good, and I had a good experience, well done! :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

Nice graphics and great choice of theme. I managed to clip out of the game in the first level by going through the white door (maybe intentional by devs?) Also my mouse had a hard time staying in the screen (I have dual monitors) so it was hard to interact with things. Other than that, it was a great experience. Job well done!

Developer

thank you! The devs will get back to fixing this cursor issue, thanks for letting us know!

Great graphics, but couldn't do nothing while pressing "E"

Eventually I jumped till I got to the roof of the first chamber XD

Edit: I restarted the game and finally worked!

Developer

Thanks for playing! glad you enjoyed it!

I liked the Egyptian concept! Congrats!

I had an issue with the mouse cursor, after starting the game it was there and I click on one other monitor (I have 2) and I came back to the game I can't move my camera :(. I hope it is helpful.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it.

Thanks for letting us know about the cursor issue, I suspect I know what is causing the issue and might be able to sneak out a hotfix at some point this week.

The Great Pharaoh, Ra-Thos, has opened the doors of his pyramid for all.

Aka, the repo is public now :D  Sorry about that and thanks for letting us know.

Jam Host(+1)

Yup, it looks good now :)

I liked the premise  of the game. My only issue was the camera kept clipping into the environment making it so I couldn't see where my character was which made it difficult to maneuver.

Developer

Glad you liked the premise.  Thanks for raising the camera issue with us, we will have a look at possibly putting out a hotfix for it.
