woha, what a sad and beautiful world. i mean, nanni died, did she not? I was hoping to see a lot of fantastical version of what the afterlife might look like when I saw the jam's theme - but you were the first to really blow me away in that regard. hopefully I don't misunderstand your concept entirely (*monkeyhidinghisface*)

unfortunately I think there were some problems with the pressure plates and I couldn't progress (the one you can jump down to at the beginning didn't react), but the short stroll through this world was already worth it!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you very much! Yeah, you are quite correct :D

For the pressure plate at the first island sorry, we missed some indication there, you had to go on them in order based on how many lanterns they had in front. I supposed you go straight down at the beginning and you encountered the last one (with 4 lanterns) :D. Anyway sorry about it, next time we will implement a better system to show you that you missed something else :).

Thank you for git it a try! In case you can retry it and continue, so you can enjoin the full story and reach the ending "scene"! Thank you again for playing it!

Wow this game is really well done!

The map is awesome, I loved the art style, the atmosphere, the music. My only comment is that there is not enough variety of props, so you can get lost easily. But, I mean, 10 days, wow! That's a lot of work!

I really enjoyed this, one of the best games of the jam!

And finally,

ma che siete italiani? La tizia é doppiata in italiano. Grandi!

Developer

Thank you so much for have played the game and... Si siamo un piccolo team Italiano!

Grandissimi! Siamo in pochi in italia con questa passione, ma buoni evidentemente :)

I loved the atmosphere / visuals of the game, the voice acting is on point, I feel like you need to work a little bit on the graveyard puzzle, as that level took the longest to complete. Maybe queue in some hints through voice lines? I also liked the story, especially the ending. It caught me off guard and was a nice touch :) Very well done!

Developer

Thank you very much! I agree with your comment on the graveyard part, the next time we will be more careful on how to set up the level.

Thank you also for finishing the game and seeing (hearing) the final cutscene! :D

Nice intro to set up an inital mood and theme for the game.

Nice aesthetics and environment setup, adds to the overal exploring mood of the game.

The falling animation of the character looks awesome.

It's kinda slow to move to different areas - gets especially tedious when you move to a location in a different order than you were supposed to.

It was hard for me to identify what the other characters do - some kill you? - others ignore you?.

I like that you put billboards with instructions to read at your own pace while running around.

It's nice that you put lights or colors or other indicators at objectives to mark that they were important. I feel you can exaggerate these effects - especially for the gates. Since I sometimes at a hard time finding them.

UI-animations in start-menu can be snappier with increased speed of the transition animations. Note: Also when the button slide out, they are still active so you can activate multiple buttons at once.

You guys made a lot of content for the game. Nice work, you guys should be proud!

Well done for creating and submitting a game!

Developer

Thank you very much for the kind words! We appreciate it!

Yeah, I agree it could be tedious, the next time we will think better about the task for the areas.

For the UI menu, you are absolutely right, it is one of the less effective parts. To be honest, at the start I thought it could be a good idea to experiment with UI-Animation, but are you pointed out it didn't perform as expected :D. It is more difficult than expected.

In any case, thank you for the feedback and especially for playing the game!

Great visual, the level design is incredible. It lagged a bit on my side, think my pc is a bit small so I missed out on the true experience. Great game.

Developer

Thank you very much! Yeah, I think we have put low effort into optimization, we apologize for it! Thank you for Playing in any case!

Great graphics. It's games like this that makes me excited to give unreal a try in the future. The world was nice and fun to explore. The controls felt good, although there wasn't anything original or unique about the way in which your character moves about.

It was an awesome experience, especially for something one in only 10 days. The best part for me was making the woman who kills you fall off the edge lol

The only part I scored lower was "Theme" as it felt shoe horned in, rather than something the game created around.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your feedback!  We appreciate it!

For the theme in reality you have to finish the game to understand it, it is a story of rebirth, the death is the beginning of the journey through many challenges to take you to the end and to make you deserve it. In any case, maybe we needed to me it more clear, I thought it to be as interpretable as possible to not say too much but not say too few.

Anyway, thank you for pointing it out and especially thank you for playing it!

Hey there, very nice looking game and it felt great. Was interesting to explore and solve puzzles. The motion blur on the camera moving was a little tough on my eyes, but maybe that's just part of getting old :)

Developer

Thank you for playing the game! We are sorry for the motion blur, we have disabled it in the patch we have just posted!

I love it :-)

Developer

Thank you!

Played and rated. Had a great time for a while!

Pros

  • The voice acting was excellent I loved it!
  • The visuals look nice
  • The music pieces are great
  • The puzzles are interesting
  • The NPCs make the game more alive

Cons

  • Walking takes a long time, I would have prefered being able to sprint since we go back and forth a lot
  • Needs some markers that make it easier to know where the objectives are, I was  running around too long not knowing where I should go

Overall a nice relaxing game that is fun to play for a while, but only lacks sprinting in my opinion. Great work for making this in 10 days! :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

Developer

Thank you very much for your post!

You are right.  It takes way long time walking back and forth, and there are not makers or any kind of helpful feature than the player can use (we didn't have enough time to implement it).   We will work on it once the gamejam finishes.  Again, thank you!

Like any good unreal engine game, playing it in my potato of a pc makes the game run with low fps xD which made the platforming part kinda frustrating. But apart from that, the environment looks amazing, and the music fits each area. The puzzle is simple, it just takes time to explore the map. Overall a really great game.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, unfortunately, we weren't able to test on a low-performance PC, so we apologize for this. In case there are the Video Settings options in the menu where you can lower some settings, maybe could better fit your PC spec!, in case let us know :D. Thank you for git it a try!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, I change the video setting because the first time I played it I can barely move around :D. After I set the setting to Low It is getting better, though there's still a slight delay in input and actual movement I managed to finish it.  Great job in this Jam :)

Developer

Thank you!  We will try to solve it after the jam.

Submitted(+2)

Nice work with the environments. I'm impressed by how many levels you managed to fit in, each one with its own gameplay characteristic.

Very nice use of light with the bricks in the second level, especially when you throw them inside a dark room. And also, awesome menus.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you very much for your kind words! We appreciate it! Thank you for playing it!

I love the concept. Super setting and beautiful work on the leaves.

I just had a few problems with the jumps, but it's all playable with a beautiful alien world.

Good job :)

Developer

Thank you very much for your words! Yeah, the jumps are very difficult at the beginning, sorry about it. I  any care Thank you for Playing it!

I have a low end video card so that may have been my issue, but it was so dark I could no make out the ground easily. I fell a lot due to not being able to see there was no ground. I think a little more lighting would be nice. The look and feel were amazing. The music especially was very moody, loved it. So you know the Audio settings did not work in the options menu.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, sorry for the too dark area on the third island, we will try to fix it :)! For the Menu audio setting yes :D, we are aware of it, we had many problems with it and we decided to disable it at all to avoid destroying the sound atmosphere! And again thank you for playing it!

Submitted(+2)

That alien fauna really looks pretty! After I got the “hint” with the lamps at each plate I understood the sequence and was able to open the door. The jumping sequence on lvl2 made me see the free falling animation several times ;) As for the technical “issues”: I also encountered some blurriness and a few flickers (Nvidia 1070). Also after one “teleport home” the scene turned into night mode, not sure if that was intentional. Gonna finish this game after I recover from the jam review marathon…

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! If you mean the teleport after the Desert area, yes, the night scene is intentional :D. The other issue we will try to fix in the next few days, thank you for mentioning them :). Thank you again for playing!

Great images with a really touching script. Really enigmatic in the early stages but overall an excellent entertainment driven mainly by curiosity in discovering the end of the journey.

Developer

Thank you very much!

Only a few mins into this game and you can see the outstanding quality from the get go. Very proffessional and well executed.

My only critique would be i thought the game crashed the first time it loaded as it was a fully black screen, once i realised the audio was there i was impressed by the story given :D

Will be keeping this for time to come as it's super enjoyable. Well done!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! Yeah, I agree with the first "Crash Impression" of the black screen :P. The Audio Cinematic is a bit strange to see (see I think is not a proper word here :D). We apologise for it. I would love to have had more time to add more things there and in the final at the end of the game. In any case, thank you so much for your time playing our game! :)

Submitted(+1)

The graphics are beautiful, and I really liked the overall design! The changing of the music and atmospherics between the different areas was really nice and it helped to show the journey of the character.

The only technical issue I could see was that after opening the door to the house in the first area, the subtitles on a couple of lines were overflowing outside of the backing image, making them a bit hard to read.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words and your feedback! yeah, the subtitle system is a bit row, we apologize for it. We will try to fix it :D.

Thank you again for playing our game!

Loved the beautiful world and the sound. The UI is very cleanly done as well! Would love to see more of a story behind this and a sense of purpose. Great submission!

Developer

Thank you very much! We appreciate it! The story behind is like a soft line that joins all the challenges that the protagonist has to make during his voyage (explained in the final Audio Cutscene :D)! Thank you again for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game for sure. The fluidity of the jump with the character, a big fan. All though, I do agree. I felt no real impression of what to actually be doing. The aesthetic was cool, but it felt a little too mixed and matched between different art and the music. I got whimsical vibes with tranquil music. Unfortunately I didn't go very far. But I see the effort!

Developer

Thank you so much for your comment!  We really appreciate the feed back, and will try to give more feedbacks to the player.  About the music and Art, we can't adjust it now, but we will look into it after the jam.
