Nice game, the aesthetics are great - felt very tronlike to me. Sound was good, clearly a lot of thought and polish has gone into the game.
Thank you.
I think I spent too much time on the polish and too little on the actual content. However, since the game was supposed to be a 5-10 minute experience, I guess it's OK. :)
Nice game! This game reminded me of destiny 2.
This game is great, I was hooked. The controls are quite responsive, although I would have liked to see an option to move slightly, instead of full movement all the time. I really like how you add the braking sounds when the player keeps turning for a given duration, it makes it so much more immersive.
Great job!
Thank you for your comment!
I'm glad you noticed the sound effect! It took me a while to get it to work that way, but I'm really satisfied with the result.
About the movement... I guess, just tap the button lightly? XD
This is a really neat game. I thought at first that you couldn't jump over the buildings, but it turns out my timing was just awful. The turning is a little clicky, like I kinda wish there was a little lerp or easing, but I guess there's some tradeoff to make it feel responsive. Really liked the UI work and the 3d tips at the beginning
Thank you for the feedback!
Yes, the game needs fast reflexes, so I didn't add any easing to the movement or jumps. I'm glad you liked the UI. I spent quite a while (more than I should, probably) making it look nice.
Love the synthwave theme. I wish the colors changed between levels to make it feel a little different.
Thank you for the suggestion!
I'll keep it in mind when I pick up the project again!
Loved how you did the instructions, gave the great impression of a race game and speed. First 2 levels were pretty easy and then I couldnt complete the third and was stuck there. Maybe just me or a more gradual difficulty curve. The only mechanic I didnt like was the jump. Felt too quick and kept making me fail, but was more on the third level. Overall, I like it :)
Thank you!
The concept for the levels was: basic tutorial, learning how to move fast to the sides, learning how to jump, challenge 1, challenge 2.
So yeah, level 3 was all about jumping. XD
For the gamejam I had to make the levels short but challenging. Probably will lower the difficulty curve when I develop the game more in the future. Thanks for the feedback!
Buttery smooth controls. Great job on the theme (We also did a synthwave style).
Thank you! I'll take a look at your entry for sure!
Fun game! I love the graphics and coloring are so 80s. haha
As a huge fan of 80s-like synthwave, I have to rate it with 5 stars in music :-). The rest is also more than fine. Good job! *thumbs up*
Love the art and style of the game! The driving mechanic could use some refining, but I thought you did a great job!
Thank you for the feedback!
My favorite game so far. Loved it.
Thanks for the submission. Nice retro driver. Great art and fitting music.
Thank you!
I really like the synthwave mood! Good job!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Great aesthetic, love the synthwave vibes. The only thing I would say is that the twitchiness of the movement in combination with the scanlines hurt my eyes a tad, other than that great entry!
Thanks for the feedback!
I'll be adding a toggle to turn off scanlines in the settings in a future version of the game.
Spot on OutRun aesthetics. Really good job.
rate4rate?
You really nailed the look. How did you make the scanline effect? Gameplay is pretty good as well. You should have had some proper synthwave in it. Look at White Bat Audio, he does royalty free stuff that you can use in whatever you want as long as you credit him. It would do wonders for this game. Cheers!
Thank you for the musical suggestion. I'll check them out.
For the jam I went for exclusively CC0 assets, so anything that requires attribution was filtered out, but for future development on the game I'll have no constraints and can use better music/assets. :D
About the scanline effect, it's just a semitransparent texture tiled on a canvas in front of the camera. Very simple to implement!
That makes sense, thanks, I will try it out. Saved me having to download the source :)
I'm generally not a huge fan of this type of gameplay. But the graphics, the audio, and the overall vibe of the game is amazing! Seems like you definitely met your goal with this one :)
The overall aesthetics look great! Other than turning, which is not as sensitive as I expected, the control is very smooth. Very polished. Nicely done!
Loved the 80 tech art vibes! fun game! Suggestion, maybe make the souls collisions to be a little larger, I swear I went by some and where not detected. Might be a good idea to keep implementing, I really liked it.
Thank you for the feedback!
I definitely need to fine tune some details like the soul collider size. It's easy to miss some when doing late jumps.
Really cool UI and look, the worldspace UI is extremely polished. Overall fun, I would only try to polish the movement a little, the camera is a little jerky.
Thanks for the feedback.
Many people have noted the camera thing. I may add a setting so that the player can change the camera smoothing to their preference. Thanks!
