A very big game for a month long gamejam. My favorite part about the game is how many mechanics you managed to add to a good basic gameplay loop, and how well they are introduced (both pacing wise and what they manage to add to the game). Not alot of complaints. Solid puzzle game.

The only thing I found is that I think I managed to break some levels. I found solutions to more complex levels with by just moving 1 thing. This isnt really a bad thing per se, levels having multiple solutions can be nice.

So yeah good job!

Really nice game! I really liked the puzzles you had for us, and you even took the time to make a puzzle editor! (Though I didn't actually try it, heh) Nothing bad to mention here!

One of my favorites! Well designed puzzles!
This was really well polished so I don't have any criticism, well done!

Well designed puzzles,  nice game mechanics. It sometimes really takes hard thinking to judge where to place things in order to make the level work. Well done.

And how's my game, please rate it and share a screenshot if you happen to win on this thread:  https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2021/topic/1834539/who-can-save-the-land-of-monochr...

A really well made puzzle game. Great work

A really cool puzzle game, with a lot of content and a lot of polish!

The music was a little repetitive, maybe some different music for the different worlds would have been nice? And I wish there was a way to reset puzzles without resetting leaf positions... but that might be a bit hard to implement alongside things with other objects moving, and red flowers that have to be reset...

New ost is in progress! Also resetting the level without placing back positions might be a bit hard to make but I think it is possible, might be done soon

Awesome! Oh, by the way, I played the version that was finished for the jam, of course - I'm sure the updated version has improvements, but I figured it was unfair to judge based off those.

Version 10 will have the feature of not resseting position of objects!

A very well-made and polished puzzle game. I liked it.

(I played v7 which seems to be the latest jam version.)

A very cute, coherent and polished game! From the blooming flowers over the hovered option in the main menu to the cruncy leaf sound that plays when you pick up something to move it, you can tell a lot of love and effort has been put into 8U6. Also, it's got 40 levels and a level editor (what?!) - that's HUGE! I also appreciated the auto-save feature that shows which levels have been completed in the menu.

I found the music to be charming and a good fit for the game, but maybe a little bit repetitive. I think having one track per 10 levels would be a good amount, to keep things varied. The only other feedback I could give would be nitpicks, such as putting the next level button above the close button, instead of below.

Possible bugs:

  • From the main menu, clicking "Custom" and then "cancel" on the file open dialog causes an empty level to be loaded and then shown as completed.
  • I couldn't beat 3-7 so skipped ahead. After beating the others I was able to access level 4-1. I quit to go back to the menu to try and go for 3-7 again but then I couldn't access 4-1 from the menu. This might be by design (i.e., it appears when all 30 of the previous levels are beaten but I'm not sure).

All-in-all a great experience and one of my favourites from the jam so far!

Thank you <3

I can make more music for the game (and I think that I will do that very soon) but only for different things like the main menu, editor, the level and level completing screen.

Putting the Next Level button above the Close button will be done too.

About bugs:

  •  In the v7 you had to choose a file via selector, but now it loads a list of levels stored in \Levels\Custom which is better (and makes sence for that folder).
  • For the 3-7 bug, I did never get that, but I think it has been fixed.

Hey, no worries - and thanks for leaving a comment on my game as well :)

Yeah, those were just my little nitpicks, I always try to think of something I can give feedback on - but I had to think pretty hard about your game haha.

I'll have to try the next version of the game and check out the changes!

A very well thought out and polished puzzle game. I'm impressed with the different amount of mechanics presented, as well as the ability to mod and add custom levels. How did you go about designing some of the levels? I had a bit of trouble solving some of the levels.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Making levels was easy at levels x-1 to x-4, but then it was getting harder as no ideas came to my head. Also the guy that made sprites have made some of the levels, but I made them harder.

My plan for making levels was like that:

1 - Make an already completed level with complicated path;

2 - Make it harder and harder by adding changing something or making some actions forced;

3 - Maybe add some objects which are not needed for the game (you can place them on the level so that they are not used)

4 - Replace some objects so the level is not already completed

Ah okay, that makes sense, thanks!

Nice cute graphics with good puzzle designs.

I love a good puzzle game, and this one is very good. The way that elements are slowly added building up to some very tricky levels is amazing level design.

Very clever idea! Love the art and thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle.

Cute pixel puzzle game!

But the glyphs of "M" and "W" really make me confused.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks :) Unfortunately I cant make string characters wider or taller

Edit: But I can change the font and I will do it in v8!
