  • I can definitely see that the scope got away from you here. But adding in some music and a jump sound effect would have made this a much better experience, since I did actually enjoy jumping from tree top to tree top along the way to the gem. But without any sound it felt a bit dull. I won't say much because you of course wanted the game to be much more than the result, but: -Locking off the edge of the map with an impassable mountain or even invisible wall would prevent players from falling off the map(Like I did on my first run lol) -Music/sound would have resulted in a better experience/score. -Confused as to why the compass didn't just always point towards the crystal, since I basically spent the entire time holding F anyway. Neat little concept, and the attempt was there, but a couple of little additions would have resulted in a better score.
  • Scope of a project is always a little hard to contain, especially if it's a first time jam. That being said, I like your graphic style and the open world. I'm not sure if the bouncing feeling of the movement was intentional but I enjoyed it, it makes the game feel happy. I did find my gem on the first attempt (I think) a small blue gem embedded in the ground, I believe it was just a fluke of the random generation. I couldn't pick it up so that was just a bug of the unfinished world. I did like the compass mechanic, but will say that the visual of just a magnetic rod was a bit odd. But I'm all for unique style. I am giving a good score for theme as what you laid out would have been on point.
  • Congratulations on your completed entry into the Fireside's first ever Game Jam!

Did you work alone, or as part of a group? (If in a group, list their names)
I worked alone.

Unique idea for the jam, and making a randomly generated world for your game is very ambitious! I really like the idea of searching through a landscape to find a small gem with a compass, that  aspect felt really cool. It really did just suffer from not having enough features or polish. Things to look at and more ways to move, things like that.   I figured out that you could stand on the trees and after that I actually had a lot of fun jumping from tree to tree on the way to my destination.   If you came back and fleshed this out with more polish and features, I'd be really interested to give it another go!

I'm already working on making this something you can really play (not just for 1 min). I was also lets say distracted when I found out I can be a monkey :)

Randomly generated 3D terrain for your first game jam? That was brave =)
There's not much to do in the game, but I think you now learned a good lesson in scoping.  Curious to see what games you will come up with in the future!

Yeah my thougt process was like: I've got a week, this won't be a problem... Like I'm already finished with the procedural generation of the terrain. And I still have ... 1 day left for the rest of the game ... oops.

It was cool that the map generated randomly and fun (for a while to explore) but it did get repetitive visually when I was looking for the rock.

And then I fell of the side of the world :)

I over scoped on mine so no judgement great entry and something that looked a bit different then the rest.

Well I'm sure you'll hear this a lot, but your game sounds  really cool. It practice there's obviously not a ton here. What I mean by all that is that I think this has a great premise, being out in a procedurally generated world and jumping around mountains, then bringing a stone to the top of the mountain. I would have loved some backstory behind it, like what the stone meant. I feel like maybe it could be an urn of ashes of a loved one and you have to bring it to the highest mountain to scatter it or something. I know you probably didn't have time for a story implementation, but even a story in the description would have been fun to give the walking purpose. I think it's great that you did something knew and made something. So great work!

i know it have nothing to do with the jam theme, but the game idea of Exploring is really cool, i enjoyed the gravity and the ability to jump on trees like a monkey xD ,i found the stone and bring it up high the mountains and won the game, since its not a finished game, talking from the part of the game i played, it could be better with Music/sounds/UI  like i honestly didn't know HOLDING F would tell me where to go :p i pressed F once because you mentioned that in the description, i didn't know i have to Hold the button, but the idea of bringing something with you to Guide you in this Jungle to the point where to go, is a Fun idea ! and am sure if you got the right time it will be a great game !

The idea you had is definitely rejuvenation but if I had a nickel for every idea...well you know. It's really cool that it is a procedurally generated world and the mechanics work, just need music/sfx/ etc... Games are hard, but you did submit so that's better than most! You should definitely work on it some more and at the very least get it to a level which you are happy with, even if its not for the jam.

Yeah I plan to work on this some more, as I have more ideas for this game. I actually created some music for this game, but when I tried to implement the rest at 2am yesterday I just forgot about it.

It's better to submit an unfinished game than have no submission at all, as even a low rating is better than a "not submitted". I don't want to be too harsh as I'm sure you're aware of the limitations of your game, There isn't a whole lot to do. If you do revisit this project I'd be interested to see what the game could have been.

Yep I know that this game is lets say "very limited" right now. I plan to improve it quite a lot and already have some ideas.
