  • It's pretty obvious your game was over scoped. "I'm going to make harvest moon in 9 days" is a little bit more than just "ambitious" lol. But it's very clear what you were going for, and for the most part everything works and the gameplay loop is solid. Issues: -2 of the buildings didn't do anything -Displayed prices of seeds were inconsistent with the actual amount spent. -Day night cycle broke more than a couple of times, and just doesn't work at all in the town. Overall, Cute little game that would have done better if you aimed for a smaller scope, and added some more polish.
  • Congratulations on your completed entry into the Fireside's first ever Game Jam! Note, I could not find a way to actually progress in the game even with further instructions given by developer so I can only rate based on what art and music I saw.
  • I enjoyed the classic graphic style and the contemporary farming feel. Music/audio were good for the style. Took me a minute to find my seeds, as I believe others have noted. That's minor and would be fixed with playtesting. Main menu was very nicely done. I will say that I lowered my theme score as I don't believe it stood up enough. I do look forward to the update for chickens, and with that this style of game always lends itself to a large variety of possible expansions. I did note that the posted price of seeds and the actual price out of your wallet didn't match up. But again, playtesting. The night time change was a nice touch. I did enjoy this game overall for what it was.

Did you work alone, or as part of a group? (If in a group, list their names)
I worked alone

The game would be easier to understand with a tutorial, and I can't see the theme clearly enough. However, I think your menus are very polished for a jam game, the music was of perfect choice and the artwork is very cute.  Good job! Waiting for a post-jam update!

UI-heavy games like this are really difficult to do within the constraints of a game jam, so what you managed to accomplish is impressive. Had to figure out how planting works from others' comments, but the graphics are all super cute. The unique shop art and title screen are all very pleasing to look at

I think overall, this game is very nice, and I really love the art style and music. The gameplay was a little difficult to get around, as it took me forever to figure out that my seeds were on the right side of the screen.   Once I got that sorted, the game,  though simple, is very well put together.   I can tell a lot of care went into it, like the detail that the hud becomes transparent when you walk behind. Little details like that show me you care a lot about user experience! I just think next time doing a little more playtesting to figure out things like that people have a hard time finding the inventory would really help. It's definitely hard if not impossible to catch stuff like that on your own.  Overall,  great job!

I've read all the comments, but I still can't figure out what to do... could you tell me a bit about how it works so I can give it a try?

Full disclosure: I am a HUGE stardew valley fan. And what can I say, this checks off the  boxes for me :) It's got the farming, the cute graphics, a really cool intro menu, and that music is just so relaxing I absolutely love it. As someone who's played a lot of farming games I actually figured out what to do fairly quickly, though I definitely agree with some of the other reviews that a tutorial would have helped a lot since it took me a minute or two. I played until I planted a couple of the 75 crops and then considered it done since I don't think there was any content I missed. (Also the 75 crops don't cost 75, same with the 20 crops, they actually cost 15). The characters animation was fun and unique. Great job!

OHHH yeah i forgot to update the text for the crop costs when i updated the game before voting

The mouse pointer disappeared on the shop scene, which didn't help. Yeah like the others I had no money either it looked good and potentially fun but with out the ability to grow anything I feel I missed out on a core experience.

I had to use the unlimited money cheat to figure out what to do,  and buy the seeds then put them in the ground. It definitely needs a tutorial because it does work,  but the players don't know what to do. The seeds are hidden on the right side of the screen so well you don't even know they are there.

A lot of the mechanics are there the player just needs some hand holding. Maybe have the farmer use speech bubbles and explain what he needs  to do and what the goal is. I hope you do go back and finish it and update your game even though the jam has ended!

Looks like a promising Harvest Moon-a-like but I couldn't really figure out what to do. I tilled the land... and then what? I visited the town to buy seeds but had no money to buy them so wasn't sure how to get started.
