This one is really great! It looks and plays very well.
Though sometimes there are so many bullets, you can't dodge, and i'd suggest not making the enemy ships invulnerable while they come into frame. other than that, it's awesome
Thanks for trying it out, glad you’ve liked it :D !
Yeah due to time i’ve made the enemy spawns a bit too random and the bullet patterns depending on what enemies and how many are present at a time can make things a bit too hectic can’t argue with that ^^’
I’ve made the enemies have somewhat of an invulnerability period at spawn to prevent them just getting destroyed off screen constantly cause i felt this wouldn’t be all that fun but i’ll see how i could better adjust this if i get some time to work on this post jam.
I just love space shooters! The game ended up being quite difficult due to the RNG of enemies. Aside from that though, it's a banger!
Yeah i’m a big fan of them as well !
That’s why even though it’s been done to death i still tend to go towards sci fi and spaceships when making shooters even if this one’s a bit barebones compared to others i made in the past.
No worries the difficulty is absolute crap and unbalanced cause i didn’t have much time to balance the Rng elements properly not to mention there’s not all the enemies i would have wanted to vary things a bit more.
Thanks for playing and your comment, glad you liked the game despite all the jank :)
All around a pretty good experience! Music and visuals were stellar (ha)
And the player movement and bullets were smooth
Haha Nice pun XD Thanks for giving my game a go !
Glad you liked the spritework and music ^^
Nice sprites and especially enjoyed the music, gameplay was pretty simple but good. Would appreciate it being less random, as sometimes enemies patterns get very messed up. Liked it alot!
Thanks :D Glad you liked the spritework and music !
Most of the randomness of the gameplay came from the fact that i didn’t have much time to make anything better with the deadline on the horizon so i’ve added the semi rng based spawning to have the game be a bit less predictable and boring especially considering that there’s not much to it other than surviving and getting the best possible score. And due to time as well this randomness wasn’t properly balanced :(
But really happy that you liked it despite these flaws ^^
Had fun playing this, I just struggled to dodge some patterns. But I liked what you did with the sound and visuals.
Thanks for giving my game a go !
Glad you liked the music and spritework ^^ the patterns are probably not the best cause i tried to partially randomize enemy behaviour to keep things a bit more varied since i didn’t have the time to implement all i initially wanted to.
Great job either way!!
Thanks for your kind words, have a good one ! :)
the enemies look cool and the soundtrack is a BOP!
I got absolutely shredded but still had fun
Thanks ^^
glad you liked the enemy designs they were a lot of fun to make, i wish i had been able to implement all the sprites i made cause there are still a few in there that didn’t make the cut to fully functionnal enemies in order to meet the deadline. Also happy that you liked the music, not my best work but it’s cool to see people seem to like these tracks so far :p
Oh and no worries about the difficulty, the game is absolutely not balanced so that’s that XD
Pretty boppin beats. Kinda fooled me with how large the hitbox really was, but didn't really matter as I am pretty terrible at dodging.
Thanks for trying my game out and your feedback!
Happy that you liked the tunes, these are not my best though i’ll admit i managed to make 4 tracks still for variety.
I tried to make a small hitbox which stayed somewhat logical with the sprite but i think i should have probably made it a bit smaller, nothing i can’t fix with updates if i get the time post jam.
I liked the art and the mix of classic and modern shmups, which I found very interesting. Dodging the bullets was quite challenging. I enjoyed the game, congratulations!
Thanks ^^ i’m glad you liked the art, iv’e had fun trying som stuff with shader and particles this time around cause i wanted the game to have this more arcade feel thus the more modern aspects XD
Pretty hard. Seems like a classical Space Shooter :)
Thanks for playing ! Haha yeah i didn’t have the time to properly balance everything so it is a bit hard, glad you still liked it though ^^
Nice game. Looks cool too. Starts off hard and gets harder :)
Thanks for trying it out ! Glad you liked it, especially the look ^^
Well i didn’t really have much time to properly balance anything so i hope it didn’t start too hard as it got even harder :p
I love how alien the enemies' ship looks in contrast to to our ship. Really tell some story with the design alone.
My only pet peeve in this game is that I cannot go to the upper half of the screen. "I can dodge this bullet just by move forward a little bit" and then I hit an invisible wall. Other than that this is a fun game.
Anyway, my highscore so far is 3200.
Thanks for giving my entry a go :)
Glad you liked the alien ships design, i really wanted them to feel very otherworldly and outlandish compared to the more grounded (if a bit retro) tech of the player ship (kind of a staple of mine whenever i made sci fi themed games so far :p)
The enemies themselves don’t have collision so i wanted to somehow limit the movement of the player so they didn’t overlap too much with enemy ships whenever there were a lot on screen, but i might have gone a bit too far with this i’ll admit, and i didn’t have much time to adjust it more.
Cool score ! Especially considering how jank the game is, thanks for baring with it haha XD
Nice "game feel" when dodging the bullet storms.
I enjoy the throwback vibes to C64/Amiga 500 space shooter games :)
Didn't get very far though, with a highscore in the low 1000's, but I might come back later for another try!
Thanks ^^
the game didn’t turn out as good as i had planned this time around so i’m glad you liked it and that it felt like a good throwback to these older shooters on Amiga and c64 :)
It was already cool of you to give my humble game a shot, but nice to see you’d be willing to try again XD
I only got a score of 2400, but anyways the game is quite fun, I love the difficulty and overall visuals. Thanks!
Thank you for trying my game out ^^
Glad you liked the artstyle and overall game even in its rough state, cheers !
The guy next to me got 11300?! Dang.. I could only get up to about 3500. Fun game! Feels like it could easily be the start of a full game. Keep up the great work, congrats on the submission.
Thanks for giving my game a shot ! This one ended up a bit more bare bones than i hoped it to be but i’m glad you’ve enjoyed it regardless.
I’ll see how much post jam time i’ll have to add to it, cause there are a few unused enemy sprites in there which didn’t make the cut as well as some glitch where no powerups are spawning so in the game’s current state players are stuck with the default gun and no satelite drones :/
Thanks again for your comment, have a good one :)
OK, I did a slightly less shameful run with 11300 points in the end.
I really like the background and the music is engaging. I think each individual enemy simply appears randomly? Anyway the combination between the few patterns generates pretty fun sequences to deal with, the game is fun to play with the right speeds and difficulty.
The game would be even more punchy with sound feedbacks but as someone who uses stock assets for music and sound while you're doing everything it's certainly not a harsh criticism.
The game is cool, thanks for sharing.
Dang impressive :O
well i don’t have any kind of leaderboards in the game but you might just have the High score right now congrats !
I tried a bunch of stuff with shaders and particles to animate the backgrounds a bit more so i’m happy that you liked it, as for the music i wouldn’t really call them my best work but glad you liked it as well, i managed to make 4 tracks to have a bit more variety even if they are a bit short.
The enemies only have partial randomization to their behaviour, i tried a bit of a new approach to their ai but it turned out a bit janky but hopefully not too much.
Yeah stretched myself too thin time wise so i couldn’t really implement much in terms of juicy feedback, i didn’t even manage to implement a UI to indicate player hp, but i wanted to sub something even if a bit rough rather than miss the deadline. Haha and no worries dude it’s completely constructive feedback ^^
Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback !
The pixel art is fabulous, and I love the variety of bullet patterns, avoiding them is really fun. The movement is crisp which is really needed for bullet hell games. There is a strong resemblance to space invaders, which I love. I would make the green for the hitbox a bit more notable and maybe change the music for something more intense, other than that great game!
Thanks for playing and your feedback !
i overscoped so i stretched myseflf thin on time cause i tried a bunch of new stuff to make the enemy ai and the bullet patterns so the gameplay stuff is quite basic and a lot of things didn’t turn out as well as i hoped, thus the bit of a Space Invaders vibe.
So i’m glad that you’ve enjoyed it despite all the shortcomings:D
The alien ships were a lot of fun to design, if i get some time post jam i’ll try to implement the rest cause on jam time there are a few that i didn’t have time to implement fully functionnal, but their sprites are in there just unseen for now XD
Music wise i’ll agree these tracks aren’t my best, i wanted to have a sort of arcade game vibe but yeah they are what they are, but i get what you say and funnily enough i have done more intense tracks on past games :p
Noted for the hitbox, i’ll try to highlight it a bit more :)
