Although this isn’t a single sitting type of game, it definitely is the type to keep me coming back for more!

Mixing in RPG elements with bullet hell elements in a game with clear progression where you feel yourself actually getting stronger is amazing. Fantastic entry! :)

Thank you for playing! Glad you like it.

Such a cool game! Not just a small bullet hell shooter but a full blown RPG. I think you should be really proud of this one!

Developer

Thank you for the compliment! Also, thank you for playing!

This was really fun! I am especially impressed with how much content you managed to add -- which also relates to my main criticism because I think the game is too long (and too difficult for me at least). I spent way longer than I did on most game jam entries (which is a good thing obviously because I enjoyed the game enough to stick around), but I never even managed to beat the first boss. That's a shame because most people probably won't even get that far in the time they're willing to invest and miss most of the content you created. I think for game jams it's good if the players can see most of the content in 5-15 minutes as a rule of thumb.

Also I really enjoyed that you made the game structured like a roguelike, it works well for the theme imo. The one thing that was missing for me however was some more variety so each run would feel different and not too repetitive. Of course making a whole insanely complex roguelike/lite system would be way too much to expect for a 10 day jam, maybe multiple possible level layouts that get picked randomly would be a good start.

I hope this comment doesn't read as overly negative, I genuinely really enjoyed this and see a lot of potential so I wanted to offer some (hopefully) helpful input. Looking forward to seeing what you'll create next :)

Developer

No worries! I won't count this as comment "overly negative" since you brought up a valid points.

I did a lot of cut corner in this game. For each stages (except boss stages) I actually want the map to be randomly picked from a map pool. With this feature, each run would be more random.  I also want to make an achievement system, something like "Shoot the gun 1000 times" or "kill <enemy names> 100 times". I think both of these features would enhance the rougelite experience.  That being said, I don't think I can release the game on time if I included those two.

And for the duration of the game, I think I too used participating in RPG game making event (outside of itch) where the game usually 1 hour long minimum.

Anyway, thanks you for playing my game! Glad you enjoy it!

Really nice looking and great atmosphere.. A bit on the hard side for my taste, but very good effort!

I appreciate the effort and ambition, the music is great, gameplay is a bit clunky, but I imagine it feels better as the RPG elements kick in. Nice job.

pretty cool!

I think early game is a bit too difficult.

the music and sfx are on point!

Developer

Yeah... I don't want to make  the character too overpowered at the end of the game, I didn't realize I kinda sacrifice the early game balance.

Anyway, thank you for playing!

Extremely fun and well made game, hope to see more from you. I found grinding between runs annoying, upgrades don't seem to confer as much benefit as items.

Developer

I'm glad you are having fun when playing this game.

The upgrade increase the stats exponentially. So upgrading from lv.4 to lv.5 increase the stats a lot more than lv.1 to lv.2.  Upgrading Attack also increases the attack gained every leveling up. Besides that, early upgrades are a lot cheaper than item.

Anyway, thanks you for playing!

Great art for the game, also very good music tho. Got some nostalgic vibes from RPG Maker. Very fun to play good job!

Developer

Glad to hear that! Thank you for playing my game!

Really cool top down mini rpg mixed with a shooter !

I really dig the artstyle the sprites are awesomely detailed, and dang that music is Castlevania levels of good

I also like the way you handled the strafing for a keyboard only or controller gameplay.

My only gripe would be that the game feels a bit hard, with the default slow movement speed and 3 narrow bullets for the shotgun spread it was hard surviving to get anywhere with resources to actually upgrade, especially with how fast the enemies kill you with their melee attacks :/

Other than that it’s still quite fun and i like the base concept and story premise, the mix of hunters with guns and magical girls works quite well for some reason XD

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you like the game!

I usualy balance the game after making sure there isn’t any game breaking bugs in it. Unfortunately, I only have a few hours left for the jam after checking for the bugs. So, I’m sorry if the game not too balanced.

My original goal is to make the upgrades drastically strengthen the player character. But in order to not making the character too overpowered at the end of the game, I kinda sacrafice the early game balance. Now that I think about it, I shoudn’t have done that.

Anyway, thank you for playing!

No problem dude, jams be jams time is short and balancing difficulty is especially hard under these conditions ^^

This game is incredibly fun! I loved it. The art is very neat and consistent. It gives me vibes reminiscent of Resident Evil and Castlevania. loved it keep going

Today I learnt you can make bullet hells in RPG Maker. Pretty fun ones too!

Developer

Thanks! You could make anything in any engine if you forced it enough.

I really liked the overall look and theme of the game!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like it.

I liked a lot of the aesthetic stuff. The whole game looking like an rpg maker game and the main enemies being magical girls made it feel like we're invading and fighting more traditional schmup characters.

Developer

This  game looks like an  rpg maker game because I made it in rpg maker.

Anyway, I'm glad you like  it. Thank you for playing!
