In what way does your game fit the theme?
Lyra animates a rock Golem and together they fight a morphling that neither of them can take on their own.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Code: Mostly me. I used an asset to implement remappable keys.
Art: Mostly assets. I made Lyra, some of the animations and some of the VFX.

Very cool. I like the voice acting and the cut scenes. The environment also looked great. Could defiantly see this becoming a full game one day.

Developer

Thank you :) I'd very much like to turn it into a full game eventually, so your comment is very encouraging.

I'll play your game.

I didn't expect a game made in a week to be so polished it looks great and I didn't manage to find any bugs

Developer

Thank you :)

I'll play your game.

I love synergy between powers. Visual (such as UI) and audio (such as voice acting) are very nice. Difficulty curve could be better, giving some grunts to test the skills, before pushing in boss fight. Also at least for me was a little bit too shaky camera in cut scene and I cannot heal golem (although am pushing on it).

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback :)

I didn't get a chance to do target selection with mouse click. Only keyboard targeting works (Tab is default).

I also enjoyed your game!

The animation and polish you managed to add is quite a lot, makes your game look pleasing.

Developer

Thank you :)

I'm happy to play and rate your game but I can't seem to find it for some reason.

Submitted (1 edit)

That's strange, I guess I submitted it wrongly.

Edit: It didn't save me setting it to public for some reason, it should be good now.

Developer

I can see it now. I'll play it!

That was cool! I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who took time for some voice acting!

Check mine if you have time:

You selected some lovely assets, the environment is beautiful! Nice work and well done! Hopefully you can find some time to play my submission as well :)

Thank you :)

Of course, I'll play your game!

This game looks amazing! I'm impressed you were able to do so much and make it look so good for a game jam entry. The voice acting was superb and the re-bindable controls is a very nice bit of polish. I wish my PC was good enough to run this game smoothly, I've been needing to upgrade it for a bit. I will not hold the fact my PC sucks against you at all. Overall super fun game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you :)

I kinda ran out of time working on the settings page. It was either "rebindable controls" or "volume / music / graphics quality" sliders. I felt that the former is a larger barrier to folks with AZERTY or other layouts.  Seems like the latter could've been more helpful for you to make the game run smoother.

Thanks for the review! I enjoyed your game.

If you work on the game after the jam and add in a graphics slider, let me know. I'd love to play it again!

Pretty cool game, rated for good :) I hope you like ours too

The animation and graphics are wonderful!

Loves the concept but the enemies were a lil hard for me :)

Thank you :)

I enjoyed your game!

Great game!

As the last review said, I would consider giving the spells more gradually. It was a bit difficult to understand all of them at the start. Though it was nice to have the key bindings below because if not it would have been impossible to remember ˄˄

Also, loved how you had been able to even add animations at the start of the game. Nice work for a week only.

Thank you for sharing your game!

Developer

Thank you for rating and for the feedback :)

I'm glad you liked the cutscene! Learning to make cutscenes was one of my objectives for the gamejam.

I enjoyed your game!

Wow this is epic for a game jam. There is maybe a bit too much different actions for to players to wrap their heads around. You could start by introducing one at a time while fighting smaller enemies.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you :)

This is very good feedback. In retrospect, I think having 3 offensive spells and 1 defensive spell (instead of 5 and 2) would've made the game better fit the gamejam format.

Fighting smaller enemies was on my list but it became clear half way through that I won't have time for it.

I enjoyed your game!

The game is good in terms of graphics, animation, and different skills usable but the monster is too hard to beat:

He has too much hp compared to our golem and the heal is not very powerful.

Developer

Thank you :)

Yeah I wish I made it easier. Here's the ending:

Golem's HP is ~1000. If you use heal on cooldown, it would heal for a total of ~1100 during the fight, effectively doubling Golem's HP.

Yeah, in retrospect I wish I made it easier (or at least had an "easy mode" option) to better match the gamejam format.

I enjoyed this game. I agreed with Coreylr, that the combat is rather complex, but once I figured it out, I really enjoyed it! Good job!

Developer

Thank you :) Did you also encounter the "default purple texture" issue?

Submitted

the concept behind this game is really awesome! the voice acting is great & the graphics are awesome too! Definitely could be a boss scene for a larger RPG in the future, so I hope you expand on this!

While graphically it looks good, some of the particle effects showed up as just the default purple mesh. It was also a bit laggy for me, but that's probably because I have a sh*t computer & has nothing to do with your game. Couldn't figure out how to heal or cast the shield, it kept saying I couldn't cast it on enemies.

There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to combat in general, but like I said, I can totally see this being part of a larger RPG game, so in that context I think it would be more straight forward. Great work!

I'd appreciate it if you could play/rate my game as well! :)

Developer (3 edits)

Thanks :) The default key for changing the selected target is 'Tab'. I anticipated that people might run into this issue, so I made the loading screen basically be "Press 'Switch Target' to continue...' Perhaps I should've displayed it in game as well if players repeatedly try to heal / shield the boss.

And yeah, the combat is hard. This is probably equivalent to heroic difficulty in an MMO.

What are you systems specs? Would you be able to send a screenshot of the default purple mesh?

[edit] Checked out your game. Very cool :)

Submitted(+1)

oh okay yeah I totally missed that! XD I think displaying that somewhere on the fight screen would help!

It's probably just my dinosaur computer. I have a Macbook Air (macOS High Sierra ver 10.13.6),  Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB & 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor.

I attached some screenshots! It happened in the cut scene & when I press "E" to attack.
