In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game is about an ant colony that must work together to stop an invading beatle
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code and made all the artwork. SaxonWolcott made the music.

Totally in theme game, sprites and animations are quite cute !

I didn't really get what I had to do at first. When I saw the ants take the queen to the surface, all I had to do was hold down the Beatle the whole time so they could escape. That was it.
Some ants seem to navigate kind of oddly, and at one point one of the ants was walking towards the Beatle while carrying an egg.
Somewhat of an interesting concept, but I didn't find it engaging.
Nice game, love the fact that we have lot of action we can do to help these little ants and no one seems really better than other It makes us want to redo several game and trying different strategies.
And I don't even know if I need to say it but your graphics are so beautiful <3
A little bit disgusting :)
It was hard to figure out at first but it was actually quite fun once you know how to play.
Interesting and simple game, But the first time I played I didn't know what to do. But once you know what to do its pretty simple and fun.
Wow this game has an interesting concept. I like the idea and the art is great! I was just using an egg to keep off the enemies while the ants were carrying the other eggs. I had to sacrifice one to save the others :). I managed to finish the game with 30 eggs in total or something like that. I liked this game a lot and it was pretty fun. You did a good job mate!
Cool art! I think that players need some type of guidance to help them understand the game better and faster. Nice job though
Great idea, a little bit hard to get it at first glance.
The idea is kinda fun, but it mostly feels like the game plays without I am doing much. But the visuals is pretty good. Overall is this an interesting little jam game.
I don't understand the criticisms below mine. Your game has a very good concept. Artistically, it is very well made for a jam. Moreover, the idea you had of the theme you turned into the gameplay is very nice. I very quickly understood the objective of the game and its mechanics.
Thank you, good job.
I really enjoyed the artwork and the music but, unfortunately, I didn't get too much out of the gameplay. Probably, I didn't grasp the intricacies of the mechanics and AI but it didn't really feel like I was making any meaningful decisions. I think you have a really cool concept here and you obviously put a lot of work into details like AI, but I (and I think most other people as well) don't really have the background knowledge to notice and appreciate those little details.
Can't say that I was the target audience for this game, which is a shame because it seems like a cool concept. I just had no idea how it was played, even after reading the itch page and the help page on the game. It also moves really slow -- but I guess you were trying to regulate room speed in game maker so I get that.
Seems really cool! Good luck in the jam!
It's well made but there are certain parts where lacking a bit, like the Ant AI, but the rest is good.
I'm glad you liked it! The ant AI was pretty complicated. To put it simply, the ants have many motives, some stronger than others depending on their surroundings, time, and some RNG. As more directives were added their desire to do any specific action and essentially "attention span" shrank, which is a natural tendency of ants in real life. I tried my best to get the AI as perfect as possible, working with someone who researches swarm and insect behavior.
Edit: Each ant is roughly 300 lines of code :)
Wow pretty impresive work in there, hope you are doing great! :D
The idea was great but the game was a little confusing.
