The game for a Game Jam is absolutely great! One of the best ones i have seen for now.

For me, a tutorial would have been great because I struggled a bit trying to discover how to play (didn't read description).

Some things that would be great too or new ideas:

- Be able to change volume of audio and a menu if you press ESC

- Bigger maps with maybe some puzzling using the companion

Although i think the game is very well done, I don't know how being together (with his friend) makes him stronger. Maybe there should be some kind of improvement if they are together or so (maybe like Link when is full hp with its sword? Extra dmg, some special attack,...?).

Anyways, congratulations, nice work!

I encorauge you to play our game too! https://undefinido.itch.io/a-tale-for-food

Thanks for playing! Shame you came across the dreaded overlapping world bug! :(

While hitting enemies is a little hard, the graphics are absolutely amazing and the storyline is really cute! I like the relaxing tone and pixelated, low-poly aesthetic. Great job! I love it!

The gameplay is super interesting. Splitting once injured is a great idea especially the screen that splits too. The audio as well as the graphics are super well done. It's perfect. Well done.

Great job.

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it :)

I really love the theme and concept behind this, hope you can expand further upon it later.

Really liked the game, had a lot of fun playing it. The mechanic is simple to understand and the graphisms are really good. I also felt like there was an interesting twist on the theme  as the game focus more on the fact that you're weaker apart (wich in part means you're stronger together). I would without a doubt pay for a longer version of the game with moremechanics and depth.

You had me at rogue-like twin stick sooter.

But anyway, I have honestly nothing bad to say about the game (besides that the controls on K+M could be better but you know that). The graphics, the visual and sound effects, the music, the UI, the smooth transitions and animations. Everything is really well done and fits together perfectly.

One bug I found is that on the shop screen (with zoomed in camera) you can still move around and go to the portal to the next level where you will still have the shop UI on the right. Pressing ESC then brings up the black transition circle and leaves you with a dark screen.

Ahh that's a shame about the bug. I thought I'd squashed that one!

Amazing game. How did you make cutscenes in a week!!
My character did get invisible after we beat the boss though. He sorta went in the ground.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Used lots of janky animators to get those cutscenes done! Seems like there is a reoccurring bug with the second world sitting on top of the first which is a shame.

Very nice game! The entire game feels very polished from the shooting to the enemies to the UI and sound! I personally enjoyed the little conversations between the characters in between areas! The gameplay is fun and quite easy to grasp. Trying to juggle between the two characters when they split is an interesting and challenging aspect to the game as well! I did notice a strange glitch where the game stuck to the second character and I could see or control the main character. I also was a little confused to start with the controls and perhaps more explanation for controls in the game would be nice. All in all though this is a fun and charming game! Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! :) Shame about the bug...

Immensely charming game!

The powerups I came to truly appreciate in the split screen mode, and I  also enjoyed how the  characters acknowledged the "loop".

Definitely worth a play, and I could definitely imagine this game expanded!

Great game, love the twinsticks shooting! One problem though, I was playing with my Xbox controller on Win10 (browser version Chrome) and can't attack. I can only move my character and (if I cheat by typing M) use the special attacks. Keyboard and mouse works fine though.

Developer(+1)

Hmm, so the right stick wasn't shooting for you? That's a weird bug!

Yeah, the only buttons that worked were left stick (moving) and the Y+X buttons for the specials. Right stick didn't do anything, neither did buttons/triggers. Not sure if it's because I was playing in browser or what. Otherwise though it works fine with keyboard, as I said!

Developer(+1)

Weird! I’ve been playing with a controller in the browser and it worked fine (same browser and OS as you)! Could be some weird Unity problem to be honest. Hopefully it’s just a one off!

I unplugged my controller and plugged it in again, and restarted my computer. Now it works!! Hahaha, probably a problem on my end, sorry!

Haha! Glad ya found the answer! :D

Awesome game, it looks fantastic. There was a bug on the boss level though where when I killed the boss on the left side, it covered up everything and I couldn't see the player. Fabulous game though!

I'd appreciate it if you played my game too!

Developer

Thanks for playing! That bug does seem to be a rather common one unfortunately...

I’ll definitely check your game out :)

Game looks very nice, character dialogue adds a lot of  "fun" element to the game. Appreciate the shader work as well as the effects. Looks very polished and I rarely ran into bugs.
